My wife and I had a wood fired fireplace. We just got tired of being ripped off for undersized cords of hard wood, the stacking, the ashes, the bugs and the general debris from moving the wood. I did considerable research on converting to a gas fired vent free insert system. I visited numerous stores and read lots of reviews before settling on Stoveworks. Stoveworks is a relatively small place run by husband and wife team Jan and Ed. We went down to their shop and were shown around by very personable Jan. See explained thoroughly all the advantages and features of the many different makes and models. Jan turned on most of the models that we were interested in. Our main concerns were a good heat output and of course, ambiance. We settled on an Mendota Model that would fit our existing fire box. My reseaa This model is rated as a "Wall Furnace" and comes with a remote control that controls flame height, blower speed and has a thermostat to set the comfort level. Within days the installers arrived to do the installation. Dan and Jimmy did a great job putting down drop sheets to protect our floors, cleaning the flue and rerouting the gas line deeded to fire the insert. We had to wait a few days for our town issued fire inspector permit before the installers were allowed to finish the metal frame around the fireplace insert. That process also went well. The installers were very clean, knowledgeable and thorough. We now find that the insert easily heats our main floor, 1700 square feet We were extremely happy with the whole process so we highly recommend Stoveworks!
Description of Work: Installed a natural gas vented fireplace insert.

I called Stoveworks several times to find out if they had a gas log set in their retail store that would fit my fireplace, and to help me measure correctly. Lynn was excellent to deal with on the phone. I faxed my fireplace measurements to her, and she called with additional questions. She wanted to be certain that what we were doing was absolutely safe, and that we had all the proper clearances. When my wife and I went to the store, Jan helped us select a model that came with "ashes" and looks very realistic. She took a lot of time making sure we understood the various features, called the manufacturer with question, and then was able to get us a 10% discount, too. We had called a number of places to see if they had the models we want, and Stoveworks was by far the most helpful.
Description of Work: Stoveworks was a huge help in my getting the correct size gas log set for my fireplace and one that looks good, too.
