Very disappointed in overall experience and customer service - took 2 service calls , several phone calls to follow-up (without return calls to proactively manage issue) - to repair a gas value under warranty - $300 in total billing - I can understand paying for labor on a part under warranty but having to pay for the diagnosis visit was adding insult to injury. They installed the unit - so was a loyal customer - Will find another Bryant service rep in the future.

I called Harriett's several weeks ago to make an appointment for routine maintenance of the HVAC system. Harriett's installed the system for a previous owner and recently gave us a bid to install a new heating system for our pool room. It took a long time on the phone to twice give Harriett's all of our system and contact information, but the appointment was finally set for April 26 2-4PM. When no one showed I called Harriett's and was rudely advised that the appointment, my name and telephone number were not in the system and the "account had been closed." The person who answered the phone kept admonishing me to set up a new account and could not comprehend that I had already completed that task and scheduled an appointment. Sorry Harriett's, but if you can't keep a simple service appointment, you are not going to get the $7,000 contract to install the new pool room heating system.

No high pressure sales; explained quality of brand, concern for consumer. Workers were professional, arrived on time and worked hard. It was a big job to do in the heat of summer and there were no complaints. I had estimates from three companies and felt Harriet's gave me the best for the money I wanted to spend. Family owned and I would recommend them.

Fast response! Harriett's serviceman was out at my house in about 30 minutes after making the call. Service technician (Chuck) was friendly and professional. Explained his repairs, offered advice to prevent future problems. (My fault, I usually remember to turn off exterior water line each Fall, not this time though.) Bill was $300. Don't know if I could have done any better if I called around, but Harriett's is local business and very supportive of Medford community groups, allowing Scouts, school teams, you name it to use their business on Main street to conduct car wash fund raisers. For these reasons, I'd rather give them the business then some out of town company.
Description of Work: Replaced hose bib in rear of house which had frozen and split over winter. Also repaired garage hose spigot which had a Anti-Siphon valve which leaked every time the spigot was turned on. Harriet serviceman replaced with new parts and fixed leak.

They are a terrific provider. We are very pleased with their service and would definitely work with them again and would recommend to others in our region. Their office support is very well organized and responsive. They worked with us in a timely manner to give us all the information and quotes we needed to make our decisions, including possible rebates and loans. They even helped us find a contractor to perform necessary preparation work. The providers were on time, very professional, very pleasant, and they performed very high quality service and work.
Description of Work: They performed the Home Energy Audit, which successfully earned us a Home Performance Rebate and loans from the State of NJ and an equipment rebated for the furnace from the manufacturer. So the actual final out of pocket cost ended up much less for us. The removed old original furnace with a high efficiency heating furnace, installed first time central air conditioner system, installed new thermostat that works with heating/cooling system, installed air sealing in basement and attic, arranged for vent cleaning. Also improved and fixed our water heater installation which had been done poorly in the past by a different provider. Service performed from October through November 2014.

The water heater broke within the first year and they replaced the part quickly leaving us a temporary replacement until part came in. I felt I didn't receive the 25% savings I was told would happen after one year. They worked with me and the state to figure out what was going on. they made changes in the routing of the water and timer. They also agreed to return $200. They were very professional and appeared as interested as I to make it right. Almost two years later, I thought my hard wood floor felt warm, and wondered if a heating vent in the crawl space had separated. Making sure the vents were tight was part of the energy package they had provided. I thought that this should not have happened and before the work was done, I mentioned it to the service person. He went under the house, found that I was right, fixed the vent and did not charge me. I have found them to always be responsive.
Description of Work: Harriett's serviced our heater and air condition for 15 years. They put in a new efficiency package two years ago that included water heater, heater, air conditioner and insulation upgrades which they subcontracted. they continue to provide service.

Dear Member, I saw your Review on Angie’s List and wanted to reach out to you. We wanted you to know that we appreciate when our customers take the time to review us on social media. We are aware we could’ve done better in some areas. It was our intent to address these and rectify them as best as possible. However I just wanted to touch base with you and make sure the grade we received was what you had intended. However, due to the dissimilarity between the review and the grade, I just wanted to ensure how we were graded was what you intended. I only ask because you mentioned that we were very professional and very responsive but our grade was an “F” in both of these areas. Thank you very much for your time, Selena Rose

Easy to set-up service, they fill my tank when it's about 1/4 full and leave the bill on my door. They're a little more expensive than others that I've looked up online, but they're local and very friendly. I haven't had any issues with my furnace, but a tech came and performed an inspection and cleaned the unit. He was friendly and appeared to be thorough. He also explained everything that he did and the condition of my equipment. Overall I like my service with Harriett's and would recommend them. The date used is approximate.

I like their punctuality, and they explain everything in detail. When asked for a service, they provided exactly as they said they were going to. Reliability is another word used for Harriett's. The price is not just for a technician being here for an hour and a half and doing his thing. Major components are not free, but if it's something like replacing the fuel filters and some of the oil heat, replacing the igniter and the points for firing the oil furnace, and those are kinds of service, and if something happens in that arena, it is free. Labor is free for even if it's for one of these parts that is guaranteed for 40 years by the manufacturer and fails, the labor on replacing that is free. It's a mixed bag. It's not just one price and forget it for 12 months. I have used them since 1979.
Description of Work: I had an oil delivery by Harriett's Energy Solutions at the end of March. Each fall they tune up the heating pump and it's probably in the $300-range. They are scheduled to do the air conditioning tune up in the middle of May and that's generally a $250-$300 deal. This includes guarantees throughout the season. If they tune it up, then there are lots of things that can go wrong that they cover.

Harriett's installed our new oil furnace and air conditioner and coordinated with an energy solutions company that helped us qualify for the NJ State program that provided us with $5,000.00 reimbursement for the installation of our furnace, air and insulation installation. High quality, energy efficient furnace was installed -- worked perfectly from the moment it was turned on. As well, high efficiency air condidtioner installed (14 sheer rating). Professional, polite and competent staff. Would highly recommend them.

Harriett's is a family owned business, which prides itself for providing excellent service and products. They have not let us down in dealing with them for over 25 years. We initially contacted Mike Kelly at Harriett's because of our past dealings with Harriett's for obtaining a new water conditioner (current house), annual HVAC maintenance on our old HVAC (current house) and having purchased a new HVAC about 15 years ago in a previous house. Mike began his assessment of our needs by taking time to understand what we were looking for and evaluating our house for square footage and energy efficiency. After calculating a load assessment for our house, Mike returned with the load assessment and a few quotes for recommended systems, ranging in price and efficiency, as well as options for installation (location in garage, crawl space or closet). Of specific interest with the load calculation was the recommendation for a heater which was 80,000 BTU (vs our older 100,000 BTU unit) and a two stage air conditioner (3 ton/4 ton) vs our older 2 1/2 ton unit. I was reassured with this, since our old system was always fine for heating but the air conditioning couldn't handle hot days. Mike also addressed one part of our house always being hotter or colder than the rest of the house, but suggesting installation of a zoning system. During the next 2-3 weeks, Mike worked with me fine tuning the quote for the system we wanted. Mike was never pushy, something I appreciated, but he was always available to answer my questions. We went with a Bryant Evolution, high efficiency system, with electronic air cleaner and humidifier located in our garage (vs the crawl space). Jim Hutinson and Mike Lee were the primary technicians leading the HVAC installation. There were others who also helped at various times with both installation and cleanup, as well as Selena the office installation coordinator. All personnel were very professional and courteous. Jim and Mike worked well as a team, both men knew their trade well, and quite frankly, both men busted their tails on some very hot days. They also did little things that made a difference, such as being aware of when our infant granddaughter was taking a nap, taking off their work boots to walk inside our house, minimizing the switch-over time between our old air conditioner running and the new one being set up and running on a very hot day, etc. Whether it was breaking through the concrete garage floor to tunnel to our crawl space, running electric or gas lines, taking out the old system, installing the new system, running new ductwork, programming the new control for WiFi, etc., I always felt they knew what they were doing and went the extra mile. Well, done men! After installation, we had a two week heat wave. The Bryant Evolution system works like a charm. The temperature in all rooms are exactly the temperature set at the control to the degree. Our problem of having one side of the house either too hot or too cold has gone away. Both heater and air conditioner are much higher efficiency ratings than our old system, which together with the zoning should reduce our utility bills. And the system is very quiet compared to our older system. Selina helped coordinate the township inspectors and both Selina and Mike followed up with us to make sure everything was working as planned. They also have helped with the processing of both Bryant and Government/Utility rebates, which we will be receiving (over $2,000 worth). I went with Harriett's because of both my past experience with them and because of recommendations that we make sure we use a good installer, as well as buying good equipment. You can find a cheaper system and probably a cheaper installer, but with Harriett's you will get a fair price, with an installer who knows what they are doing and will not cut corners. Needless to say, I would recommend them.
Description of Work: Harriett's provided us with a new Bryant Evolution heating and air conditioning system. The job was extensive, as it included relocating the HVAC from our crawl space (old heater) to our garage, adding zoning, an electronic air cleaner, humidifier, new venting, etc.

I'm 2 days into a 3 day project that has been in the works since about mid-April. Harriet's got my business for the NJ State/Federal Stimulus program known as the 'Home Performance with Energy Star' program. We signed a contract. Fast-forward about 4-6 weeks with no response. I call the state to find out what the status of my "workscope approval" was and it turns out Harriet's never submitted the scope of the project on the state's website. Therefore, the project was not approved by the state. Harriet's did come very close to the state's 50% rebate due to this being their fault. One of few decent things to come out of this project. Moving on to installation day. Harriet's sub-contracted another company for the labor on my install. Because Harriet's had done the site survey they had ordered all parts and materials for the sub-contractor. On day one, the sub-contractor had to wait for Harriet's to retrieve a new furnace because the one they'd brought had been hit by a forklift at the warehouse. This caused a loss of about 2-3 hours. This coupled with a few other snags (namely Harriet's selling me on an electronic air cleaner that won't fit in my closet) left me without air conditioning (house reached about 90 degrees) until day two. Day two, we've got everything set. New lineset is run, furnace installed. But wait, where's the new thermostat? Oh yea, Harriet's forgot that too. Another 2-3 hour wait (without AC) while their delivery man travels ~15 miles to pick it up. By the end of the day we finally have AC (which is performing quite well). Day three is tomorrow -- The heat side of the furnace/water heater. I can't wait to see what kind of snafu we run into tomorrow. Like I said, Harriet's made good when they screwed up in the initial phase but the installation hasn't gone very smoothly. I can handle the heat, unfortunately my 7 year old bulldog cannot.

They were very timely and answered all my questions. Everything was excellent and they are all A's. The other thing that they did was they kept sending the same person so that person was familiar with what was going on. I would use them again. If I have any plumbing problem this is who I would call. I don't know someone did found a problem. I had a sprinkler system put in and they cut a line but they didn't tell me what line they really cut. They just said it was a septic line but they cut my electrical line, they can't do it. It was filled with mud, sand and everything and I couldn't believe what I saw. I don't know if the electrical company found that or the plumbing company found that because they were both working around the same time and it was like a combined thing. The lines are being trenched in the same place.
