+ -1 moreTom initially seemed knowledgeable and trustworthy. However, after the initial hiring and a 50% deposit, we have not heard from him or been able to get in contact with him since December 9, 2014. I would not trust this company or give them your business as it seems they will take your money and then you can't find them.
Description of Work: We hired Tom and the Fireplace Shanty to install a wood stove in our home. We easily got an appointment for an estimate, and were told we would get an email of stone samples and were given an approximate start date of the 1st of 2nd week of January.

Description of Work: Cleaning of gas fireplace was fine. Issue was that fan was not working. Workman said problem was outlet in fireplace. He did not carry one at time. Company said it would cost $80 more for him to come again to replace outlet. We went to local business in beesleys point. They said this metal "outlet " was only a conductor and not problem

+ -1 moreMy hearth and stone around firplace had to be removed because it was determined the prvious company did not install to proper specifications. I'm sure at their end it took longer than they anticipated but they remained professional and completed the job. Even though it was more than we both anticipated I was pleased with their work. Wish I knew and used them from the beginning. Tom helped me out from a bad situation because he was the only one that stepped up to the plate. Melessa keeps the lines of communication going. Great experience.
Description of Work: They had to remove my old fireplace and install a new one. It was more involved than they anticipated but the installers did a great job. Everything was left neatly.

+ -1 moreAs I stated in the previous paragraph the entire experience with Tom and the purchase and installation of my Regency Hampton Wood Insert was very good. My only negative response is with the woman answering the phone who did not seem to care about you as the customer or have knowledge of the store's stock. I solved that problem by only speaking to Tom.
Description of Work: After visiting the showroom and selecting what I believed to be the correct insert for me, a time was scheduled for a professional to come to my home to make sure the insert would be adequate for my heating needs. Tom was punctual and informative about what was necessary to make my new insert aesthetically pleasing, while keeping my home toasty warm. He went over exactly what would occur the day of the installation, and also made sure I understood what things were guaranteed and what maintenance I would have to do every year. Last winter my home was unbelievably warm. I normally heat with natural gas for which I received not one bill! I am very satisfied with my decision to use The Fire Place Shanty
