We move into our house last week and are just amazed how great the newly painted walls and ceilings look. We had Derek come to the house to repair cracks in the textured plaster walls and ceilings. He is awesome. The walls and ceilings look amazing. He even installed an awesome backsplash in our kitchen. He is the best hands down. Since we were living out of state he was nice enough to send us some pics during the work. If your still reading this STOP and pick up the phone call Derek you will not be disappointed. We plan on bringing Derek back later this year for some additional work. Thanks Derek!

Derek did an excellent job on a hall celling that needed a lot of care as well as the living room that needed spakeling. He was very helpful in making decisions and left the area clean and neat. He transformed my living room into a beautiful room that we can enjoy, We will have him back in March or April to powerwash the house and fences. He agreed to repair trims on the exterior that needs repair and paint. I would recommend him to anyone.

Derek responded quickly to my initial phone call. His estimate was very reasonable, I thought, particularly given the condition of the walls in two of the bedrooms. The estimate was also quite a bit lower than other estimates I'd received, which concerned me at first, having been disappointed in the past when I went with a low estimate for other work. After reading the glowing reviews of Derek's work, I decided to give him the job, despite the fact that he could not promise to begin until after Christmas. I was so happy to hear from him a few weeks later when he said he COULD do the work in time for the holidays. Derek arrived each morning on time and got right to work. He was diligent about cleaning up at the end of the day. And when he completed his work three days before Christmas (Thank you, Derek!), my rooms looked great. A Plus Professional Painting is well-named. Derek was professional, pleasant, and reasonable, and he did an excellent job. I will definitely contact him again for my painting needs.

All work was competently and expertly done to our complete satisfaction over 9 working days; at the end of each day the working areas were left cleaned and vacuumed; the work was carried out in accordance with the initial estimate and time frame without interruption. I contacted Dereck using Angie's List. From the very beginning it was a pleasure doing business with him. He was prompt in returning my call and providing me with an estimate and scheduling. He was a pleasure to work with, he is reliable, professional and meticulous. Everyone room was done to perfection. He is very neat and will do exactly what you ask him to do. I will be calling him back next year to do the first floor of our home.

I couldn't be more pleased. Once the agreement was made to have the work done, I had to reschedule. I believe we finally had the work done 4 months after the originally scheduled time at my request. The contractor was most gracious at the change in the schedule. The work is perfect, he always left the room clean and neat. I can not say enough, I would definitely use him again.

I initially contacted Derek thru his website email, after reading numerous reviews of his work on Angie's List. Derek replied to me the next day, and we arranged a time for him to inspect the house, in order to provide an estimate. Derek showed up on time, and was very pleasant, yet professional. He asked a few questions as we went thru the house concerning scope, my preferences, and what I was looking for in the job. He was easy to work with, and took notes on each room and aspect of the job. A few days later, he emailed me the detailed estimate, with the costs which were broken down by room, materials, and scope of work. I was very satisfied with the estimate, so we arranged for the approximate date when he could do the work. Derek contacted me the week before that date, to ensure it was still conveinent for me, where we agreed that he would start the following Monday morning. Derek arrived within minutes of when he said he would on Monday morning (he was this punctual every day), and immediately began the job. He was extremely polite and professional, and I was immediately impressed by his attention to detail...in both his prep work on the ceiling, as well as how he was so careful of the articles in our house, and mindful of the impacts of his work to my family's daily activities. Derek repaired all of the ceilings the first two days, then painted all of them in the following day and a half. When he was finished, the ceilings looked immaculate...literally better than I could have thought possible. Even my teenaged daughter noticed how nice they looked...and for those with teenagers, you can appreciate just how unusual that is! And while me and my wife couldn't be happier about the result of his work, I was most impressed with how Derek conducted himself (as well as his crew, Brad). My family was so comfortable with Derek and his crew, it was almost like having an extremely talented friend doing the work...again, even my daughter commented "how nice he is". So to summarize, Derek did what he said he would do, when he said he would do it, for the price he said he would do it for, and did it to a level of perfection that I didn't think was possible...all the while being about as nice and professional as anyone I've ever worked with, in any industry. Needless to say, I enthusiastically recommend Derek with no reservation whatsoever...and I have decided that I'm never painting anything in my house again! If this form permitted it, I would have given him an A+ rating...so he chose the name of his company well! I even requested some business cards from Derek, and have already started handing those out to my friends...

When comparing vendors' quotes, go beyond price and ask about the quality of the paint that will be used as well.

Excellant job. Derek painted a few rooms in our second home. His professionalism was key to ensuring that there were no issues (emails and calls to make sure that we were communicating our requests clearly). He was not able to start as soon as we would like but was very good about letting us know and targeting his start date. He started work when he projected and finished very quickly. Derek DeVivo was one of the most conscientious contractors my husband and I have ever hired. He painted our home with the quality that we had hoped for. There is extensive trim and porch railings on our home and Derek was personally on the job every minute. Our wait time from the estimate to finished job was longer than we anticipated but that is to be expected with exterior work and winter weather delays.

We decided to go with Derek DeVivo and A+ Professional Painting for quite a few reasons: the Angie's List reviews, his professional demeanor and the price. Being from North Jersey, we could not always be onsite for the work and it was important to get someone reliable and trustworthy to be in our unit when no one was present. The condo is in Cape May County. Plenty of contractors but a rare few are really reliable. We call them Cape Maybe's. Maybe they show up, Maybe they don't. We did a huge renovation and had a timeline that had to be adhered to. Derek and his crew came through like a charm! Originally, we had planned to pain the 3 bedroom unit ourselves but after tearing down the existing wallpaper and seeing the time it took and the mess it made, we quickly decided to go with an expert. Thanks to Angie's List, a huge weight came off of our shoulders the moment we hired Derek. We had him do the job in 2 stages. The first was to clean and prep the walls. (~$900) The walls had glue, wallpaper remnants, some holes from various damage ~ in short, a mess. Derek took it in stride and got the work done in the time he said it would take. It was important to have him prep the walls since he would be painting them later in the renovation process. I also (in the middle of the wall prep) asked him to fix and paint the popcorn ceilings (~$1000). I didn't want to have any regrets that I didn't do them when I could have. The unit was empty of furniture, it was the perfect time and Derek accommodated my request. Our next step was to have wood floors installed by a flooring company and then wood casings and trim installed by a carpenter. After that work was completed, Derek returned and commenced painting (~$2300). The first day of painting I got a call from Derek who was concerned that the carpenter had done a sloppy job of caulking the moldings and trim. To his credit he did not just paint the moldings the way they were. Sloppy work translates to sloppy painting - something a perfectionist like Derek had a real problem with. To make a long story very short, the carpenter was useless in remedying the situation and Derek stepped in to repair what he could to make the moldings look good by cleaning up the caulk so the paint would look good. When I tell you I think he went above and beyond (especially regarding the carpenter), I am not kidding. When I tell you that it is RARE that we are able to hire or work with a person of his caliber and professionalism, I am dead serious. Derek takes great care and pride in his work. He even helped me decide on a wall color for the Master Bedroom the one day I went down to check on the progress. He went and got samples on his lunch break. That was invaluable to me. I absolutely cannot say enough about Derek and A+ Professional Painting. I 1000% recommend him and his services. You will not regret the decision to hire them. I think he and his crew are just amazing and definitely made the whole process of our renovation easier to bear. I just wish ALL contractors could have the dedication, professionalism and level of quality that he possesses! A genuinely nice guy and an absolute pleasure to deal with. So awesome to actually be able to trust that you are getting what you pay for. You cannot go wrong!

Derek is professional, pleasant and very easy to work with. Workmanship is outstanding, pays close attention to all the details (he silicone around my windows something I would never have thought to do). Clean, my husband had to stop him from cleaning a drop of paint off the floor (a floor we told him not to worry about because we were replacing the floor). When I came home the first night I was amazed at what I saw. The wall had some nail pops and some cracks that required repaired, well when I walked into the room I could not believe all the work that was done, I never noticed all the imperfections that Derek found and repaired. When I came home the second day "I loved the room" the paint job was amazing the room looked wonderful, I was impressed with the appearance of the room.If you are looking for professional workmanship, a fair price and a hard working nice guy -- you will not be disappoint if you choose Derek.

Derek and Brad showed up on time every time. He actually went out of his way to "squeeze" my painting in and worked around my busy/hectic schedule. We had about 7 different rooms/spaces that needed to be repaired and painted due to water damage. I would most definately recommend them to anyone who needs painting done. In fact we still may have them come back and d0 the last two rooms although no damage was done to them - they haven't been painted in over 15 years. They also gave me advice and when asked about their opinion (on colors, etc) they were always honest. Thank you guys for a wonderful job

Derek is a very eager business man who is eager to do the work for you. He wants to make sure you are pleased with the work at what I thought was a very reasonable price. He did high quality work and let us know if there were any issues he would be glad to come back and fix things. We left Derek the password to our gate and he came and did the work while we were at work and this was a great convenience for us. He was a very clean worker. All in all we felt the deck looks great.

Derek arrived at the agreed upon time to look over the job and prepare a quote. As agreed, he emailed the quote to me in a very timely manner. His quote was accepted and we agreed on the time for the job to start. After making all ceiling and wall repairs, he procured the color paint that I had selected. After applying a small area with the new color, Derek called me in to make sure that the color was going to work. He and I actually felt the color was not quite right and Derek took the paint back to the paint store to change the color slightly. He was absolutely correct in encouraging me to modify the color and the rooms look great. The job was finished in a timely manner and everything was cleaned up before Derek left. I will definitely use Derek's painting business again and will be glad to recommend him.

Derrick was very professional and friendly. He even did a type of painting that he had never done before and the results were exactly what I wanted. After our carpet was installed he promptly returned to fix all the damage done by the installers. I am very picky regarding details and was very pleased with the job he did. Every night the rooms were cleaned and his equipment neatly stored. I am very pleased with his services and have already recommended him to all my friends for when they need painting done. I would definetily hire him again.
