We are drawing to a close on my job! I have to tell you that although it has been challenging for both the contractor and I, it has been a great experience! How many times have you been able to say that about ANY contractor?! The job grew into something neither of us expected, but through every step of the way Dave has kept me informed of what was happening. All of the guys working with or for him have been respectful and courteous. Of course, I spent more time with Anthony (who shows me little contractor skills daily), so he is hands down my favorite. David and Anthony are both perfectionist! The job probably would have been completed a week ago, but they correct even the tiniest flaws unto its perfect. They have ended up doing a lot of customized carpentry out of necessity. They have completely overhauled my entire 2nd level so much so I feel as if I've moved into a new home!! Obviously I can't say enough about their craftsmanship and professionalism. Yes, they could be a bit more organized in laying out their plan of attack. I didn't always have as much notice about when the next phase would start. However, if you can allow for a bit of flexibility, and don't mind a little extra cleanup duty at the end (lot of dust - Oy Vey), then trust me - you will not be sorry. I've already started saving for my next three projects! I just wish I could show you pictures of the amazing transformation my house has undergone. Do: provide baggies for screws, back plates, any small items removed from walls, etc. David can be a wee bit "scattered" Do: accept color suggestions for paint if you're unsure(bought extra paint after my selections didn't look good) Do: write down a plan of progression so that you have time to prepare for demolition (added to cleanup time at the end and scurried to move things on moments notice a few times) Don't: forget to make a list of small concerns or touch ups. It's easy to overlook things like trash removal or smaller "fix it" items w/o a checklist.
Description of Work: David and Anthony ended up replacing a lot of my drywall and all the insulation. We went from doing a tub removal and insert to David building me an entirely new bathroom. AND he has re-tiled everything , which was not the original plan. They've switched out all my old fixtures, added an outlet, built me a new baseboard heating unit when one couldn't be found, and added detailing to cabinetry to add style to my existing decor. The wood stair replacement they devised (nothing has been standard in this old house) is beyond incredible! Replaced my old bathroom plumbing because "it just didn't look good". And all of my banisters are now correctly installed.
