It went excellent. I have not had any problems since. They have been very courteous at following up. I would recommend them to anyone. The price was reasonable. The quality of their work has held up for three years now.

He claimed that he thoroughly inspected the roof. Claimed that the job was done perfectly in November when I first reported the initial leak. After several months of the roof leaking, we now have a mold problem, which will need additional contractor work at my expense. After seeking the opinions of other roofers, they explained to me that there were some construction issues in great detail, which I discussed with Mr. Genovese. He now is not responding to me. The only responses I get are from one of his office workers (which is also a family member) that he is currently working on a big project, and is in the meantime neglecting my repairs. I am surprised that it has gone this route. I would rate him higher, had he taken care of the issues I presented to him.

Response from Genovese Roofing and Siding
I'm writing today in response to this negative review. In May of 2012 we completed a roof replacement at [member address removed]. On 5/15/13 the owner of the company, Brian Genovese, reported to the residence to look at the customers heater pipe as it was leaking as reported by the homeowner. During the roof replacement the pipe wasn't a part of the scope of work. Nonetheless, Mr. Genovese, sealed the pipe out of courtesy for the customer. On 9/24/13 Mr. Genovese returned to the residence to check out another reported leak. It was determined the source of the problem was a window over the garage. Mr. Genovese decided he would reflash wall on garage just to be on the safe side. There were no stains on the decking from underneath. On 11/15/13 Mr. Genovese returned to the property to complete the repair, however, the customers son informed him that they believed the leak was definitely coming from the window, and that the repair was not necessary. Apparently the customers son ran the hose in the area of the window which confirmed where the source of the leak was coming from. At that point a repair from Mr. Genovese wasn't necessary as the roof replacement didn't cause the leak. On 12/12/13 Mr. Genovese spoke to the customer via telephone to discuss the leak. Mr. Genovese informed, [member name removed], that her son identified the source of the leak being the window which is what he thought all along. [member name remove] said that there must have been a miscommunication with her and her son. At that point, [member name removed], informed, Mr. Genovese, that she hired another contractor to complete the repair. In Genovese Contracting's professional opinion the window was the source of the leak, not the roof. Mr. Genovese made several attempts to figure out exactly what the source of the problem really was. In the end it was determined the window was the issue. We are writing today to inform Angie's List that this situation was addressed on several occasions. Genovese has an excellent reputation with their customers, and we strive to make them happy. Our customers are always welcome to call the office to have any issues/questions addressed at any time. We're a family business, and wish to maintain our integrity for our customers. Hope Martin Genovese Roofing and Siding

We had Brian replace our entire roof, including ripping two layers. Brian is always very professional and knowledgeable and the quality of his work is excellent. The job was delayed due to weather and schedule run overs in jobs before ours, but Hope provided us with regular status updates so we knew when to expect them. We used Genovese in the past for repairs and were very happy with the roof replacement.

We were very pleased with the work that Genovese Roofing and Siding did. They came out right away and gave us an estimate where other people we called didn't. It was a little bit more but we know that there were extra work than what they had originally thought of. They were delayed but it was mostly weather related so they got all their jobs backed up.
Description of Work: We had the roof repaired. It was a roof over our porch. They removed the old roof that had rotted and removed the skylights that had leaked and re-roofed just the entire roof, it's probably an area 16x16.

This was a great experience, I even called him back to do some other work not too long after. I would recommend this company to anyone.
Description of Work: I had just bought my house last May and in our home inspection they noticed some water marks in the attic so I had multiple companies, including Genovese come out to take a look. Every other company came out, went up on the roof, looked in the attic, handed me an estimate and went on their way. One guy even told me that we had to replace part of our roof because it was rotted. What Genovese did was come out, the guy was very friendly and he even took me up on the roof with him so I could show him where I wanted him to look and so he could show me what he was seeing. We found out that there were a couple of spots where the siding was pulled away from the house and that whoever put on the siding did not caulk ANY of the J-channels, so water was getting into multiple rooms. He gave us a great price and saved us from many headaches later on, no other company caught any of that.

Small amount of storm damage to my roof, siding, and window frames. Understandably the company was swamped with requests and overall they were great about not forgetting to come out as soon as they had time. My damage was small compared to others,so it was no problem to wait while bigger projects were being worked. I spoke to Hope each time and she was very friendly and responsive to my requests. When they came out for the estimate they discovered some missing shingles off the roof and repaired them. I knew they were good when I asked to check for rotted wood beneath the damage and they came back and said there was no damage. Not all contractors are that honest! The final bill was within $20 of their quote...that also rarely happens with contractors.

Project was delayed multiple times. We were originally promised a start date right around Thanksgiving. That came and went, as they were severely back logged with jobs and needed to push us back. New date set for right before Christmas, no good still backed up. We moved to the week after, no good still. Rescheduled again for New Year's Eve, started to pull the roof and then they realized "wait no dumpster can come on New Year's Eve." The crew packed up and headed out after about an hour, said they would be back after New Year's. They came back and finished up the project in a few days. Although the project still wasn't 100% complete as they ran out of capping materials right at the end. They said they would be back to finish, which turned into about 3 weeks. So the project wasn't 100% finished until near the end of January. We signed a contract right before Hurricane Sandy and we weren't finished up until late January, nearly 3 months later. All the while we had pipe flanges and chimney flashing leaking with every storm. Each of these delays was usually made to known to us either the day work was supposed to begin or even the day after. Needless to say, the effort to try and accommodate their continually changing schedule proved frustrating and tiresome. It just became ridiculous after a while. The quality of work was fine, but their responsiveness and punctuality left little to be desired. I can't say I would recommend them because of it. I had high hopes as they came out right before the hurricane to try and seal our pipe flanges with very late notice, and I was impressed with that.

Hurricane Sandy blew off roof shingles and side trims on gable. I called on Wednesday and had an appointment for Thursday. The remaining trim that was dangling was removed and an inspection was performed for any additional damage that was not visible from street level. An estimate was generated and sent by e-mail the following week. The job was completed on the appointment date. I was contacted to see if I was satified with the work perfomed because I was not home when it was done. I confirmed satisfaction and paid by mail. I would use Genevese for a roofing job again.

I am very pleased with this company. Eugene Updyke 157 Indigo Dr. Mt Laurel, NJ 08054
Description of Work: Hurricane Sandy caused my rear roof flashing to rip off on both sides of the A-frame. Approx. 9 feet of flashing was hitting both side of my house also causing it to smash my attic roof vent allowing rain and birds to enter the interior of the home. The next day I tried to call Genovese Roofing to come out and look at the problem thinking there was no way in h--l they would come out for such a small job right away. I called and talked to the representative by the name of Hope. She was very understanding and professional. She said that she would call Brian and see if he could come out asap. And to my ultimate surprise, they said they would be at my home that morning. And sure enough they were there and repaired my damages. I count my blessings that the damage was minimal as compared to others that day, and also for Brian and his crew and for Hope. And that she did. This is not the first time I used this company, and it will be not the last. ( I "hope" it will, but you never know) Thank You Genovese.

After initial contact they came out to inspect the roof in two days. The gentleman who was here was on time and very professional. Not only did they correctly diagnosed the location of the leak, they fixed the leak in short order. It saved me hundreds if not a couple thousand dollars (with other roofer unqualified estimates). This has renewed my faith with ethical, honest, and quality trade contractors! Thank you GENOVESE!
Description of Work: I needed a small continuous roof leak repaired, that had an unknown source location. I called 3 other roof repair companies on Angie's list, all of whom responded in a timely manner and gave various causes and large dollar estimates of repair. However, when Genovese arrived, they too gave a theory as to why there was a leak. The only difference was, Genovese was the only "Roof" company that actually went on the roof to find the actual evidence as to why the leak was occurring.

Fantastic from start to finish. Couldn't ask for a better job
Description of Work: Called Brian for a leak that had developed in my roof. I had an idea that a couple of shingles had blown off during a wind and rain storm, that my insurance company had stated that there was no damage. Brian showed up to inspect it within 2 days. Climbed up on my extremely steep roof and confirmed that there were missing shingles and a hole had developed in the roof sheathing. Brain took a digital image of the damage, which he emailed me to send to my insurance company. With Brian's help I was able to resolve the issue with my insurance carrier and hired Brian to repair the damage. Brian cut out sections of the sheathing that were bad, replaced them and replaced the missing shingles. Additionally I had Brian replaced an attic fan that had burned out. Great job from start to finish!

I had hired Genovese roofing to do a previous roofing project for me on another property and was extremely pleased with their responsiveness and their work. I didn't hesitate to hire them again for this much more extensive (though still relatively small) job, and did not get estimates from other companies. Brian showed up at the appointed time for the estimate and even made a second trip out to check out the excess shingle I had from when the roof was originally done. He tested it out and said that it would be fine for the job, and I was able to save a couple of hundred dollars that way. The job was originally scheduled for Wednesday, September 26th. It ended up being rescheduled I believe because another job ended up being more extensive than they originally thought, and then delayed again because of rain. There were a lot of back and forth emails and calls after that and what it basically came down to was that the job kept getting pushed back. It seemed like there was some confusion between Hope, the very sweet and helpful scheduler, and the foremen. I was eventually told that Brian (I believe the owner of the company) was going to be on the job himself, and was given a new date. This time (October 4th) they did arrive as scheduled, and a crew of about 3 guys started the work. Well I looked around and couldn't find Brian anywhere. It seemed that he had dropped off the crew and then left after a fairly short time. An hour or more later another foreman came to the property, but I only ever saw him sit in his truck while the crew continued to work. The end result was that only one of the two problem areas was addressed and my additional request to have some holes filled in from an old satellite dish wasn't addressed either. When I realized the job hadn't actually been finished, I called up Hope and explained the situation. Several hours later she got back to me to let me know that they were very sorry and that Brian took personal responsibility for not communicating properly with the crew. I was informed they would be out the next morning to finish the job and fill in those additional holes as I had requested. I said I'd be willing to pay extra for that since it wasn't part of the original estimate, but they did not end up charging me for it. They did complete the job and I have no complaints about the quality of the work. It has rained several times since the work was done, and I have not noticed any water coming in. The house is completely open - gutted down to the studs, so there is really nowhere for the water to hide at this point. I feel really conflicted writing this review. I was very happy with their previous work, have always been satisfied with my contact with Hope, and have found their work to be of good quality. However, the confusion regarding scheduling and the fact that the job was not actually performed fully until I complained make me hesitant to recommend them. I suspect that they are possibly taking on more clients than they can adequately handle in the time frames stated.
Description of Work: I had some water penetration from one spot in my main roof and one area from a downstairs bump out window. The roof itself is aging quite a bit at this point, and the shingles are probably at least 15 years old now. Their estimate included removing old shingle from the problem areas, installing ice shield, new flashing, and new shingle that I provided.

I was in touch with Brian by email who was initially very responsive. A couple of back and forth emails. Perhaps I should have gone through the office. Anyway, I needed these folks to look at some siding with a questionable leak, but I don't have time to go chasing a contractor when there are plenty of other companies that actually do get back in touch with their customers to set up estimates. If Brian is too busy to answer an email, it is the responsibility of his administrative people to follow up on appointments

Response from Genovese Roofing and Siding
Dear Customer- I am sorry to hear about this unfortunate situation. You are absolutely correct in saying that our administration should take responsibility for this. Unfortunately, our office manager has no record of your call and I will now explain why. Genovese Roofing and Siding as been in business for 10+ years and each year we are growing and making changes. Thanks to each and every one of our loyal customers and our wonderful Angie's list reviews, we need to adapt to the growing business. We strive to make sure that every call gets returned and estimates are provided in a timely fashion. To ensure this happens, we have added an office manager to take all of our calls and schedule our estimates and appointments. It is still very important to us that Brian reaches out to each and every person and he does his best to do so. Unfortunately, when you email him directly along with the vendors, advertisers, and just plain junk mail, there may be a miscommunication or two. Many of out customers are used to calling Brian directly and him handling all aspects of the business, but that isn't our business model any longer. It is disheartening to see a review posted for lack of communication on our side, but we also know that we can only use this to better our business practices. When you review our history here on Angies List you will only see a handful of negatives which are unfortunate results of our growing pains and I personally attempt to rectify each one. As I have said before in other postings for non communication, it is not that we don't want your business or we are too busy to get to you. We are just trying to give everyone the personal service they deserve. If we happen to not get back to you in a timely fashion, then you can be sure that there was a problem on our end and unfortunately, it takes an Angie's list review sent to me to rectify it. I am sorry that we weren't able to reach out to you in time. I hope you were able to find a contractor to meet your needs. You call always call us in the office at 865-719-1109 to ensure that we get your name and information into our system and you are scheduled properly. i am also going to use this as an opportunity to address everyone who I hope will read this response. To ensure the ultimate experience with our company, which we want to give each one of our customers, PLEASE call 856-719-1109 and speak to HOPE in the office and she make sure that your needs are met. Thank you- Randi Genovese
