Description of Work: I desperately needed water damage remediation behind stone veneer on my home. I was randomly calling all sorts of contractors and at wits end. I happened to call Duane Mainardi, and lucky I did. While Duane was not specialist I needed, he took the time with me on the phone to listen to my problem and recommend Advanced Wall Systems Tom Friel for the job. It was just a courteous act for him to do, and Tom turned out to be an exceptional choice. So, I wrote this review because Duane extended himself personally to help out a stranger with a recommendation for a task he himself would not profit from. Thank you!

Description of Work: Duane answered the phone each time I called and he explained the entire process. He had a shingle brochure dropped off the day I called. + -1 moreWe were so pleased with Duane and his crew, we hired them twice. They did a roof for us in August 2011, and did another in July 2012. On both projects, Mainardi quickly responded and scheduled an appt. to look at our roof (and the other carpentry, chimney and gutter repairs we needed). WIthin a few days, we received an accurate written estimate. Communication was consistent and frequent - we were told when to expect the shingles and dumpster, and when our job would start. The workers were mindful of our landscaping, and there was a foreman who could speak with me if Duane had to leave our site. Mainardi Builders went above and beyond our project specs and fixed other misc. things for us - without killing our bill. He seems to have a permanent, good roofing crew and peripheral tradesman. I think his workers stay on, because I recognized many of them from our Aug. 2011 project. Both of our jobs were completely fast - (done in one day), spot-on and they left my yard immaculate - which was very important to us because we have a dog who walks freely. We had some tricky things on our (very) steep roof and multiple (old) skylights that had to be replaced. No issues at all. We would highly recommend Dua

+ -1 moreOur roof was over 30 years old and looked bad. We called 5 or 6 roofers and Duane was the first to respond and come give a quote over the Memorial Day weekend. His quote turned out to be the most competitive right off the bat, and he left us with 5 pages of references. He was helpful with questions to ask others that were quoting on the project. After speaking with 3 of the references, it was an easy decision to go with Duane. It took us a while to get everything in order on our end, and Duane was patient and helpful in answering questions during that time. Once we let Duane know we were ready, he was able to come within a week. He was His crew was on time, and got the work done within a day, and left without a sign they were here (other than the new roof). The bill matched his quote exactly. Very professional and a pleasure to deal with. I would enthusiastically recommend Duane and his team.

+ 0 moreCompany was great at first. Good quote, good plan, able to do the work promptly. Got about 90% of the way through and everything fell apart. Took weeks to get the job finished, even though we were told it would take a week at most. Also had a big issue with our gutters. Our house is on a busy road with lots of trucks, and the main electrical line to our house crosses the street. When they took the old gutters and siding off, they left the electrical line too low despite us telling them several times to keep it at the peak of our roof. A truck went down the road, caught the line and tore it out of the main electrical box, wrecking our brand new siding and the electrical box on the exterior of our house in the process. Took two weeks to get an answer from Mainardi, and even then WE had to pay to fix the siding and replace the electrical box (to the tune of about $600 just for the box). Very disappointed and would certainly not use them again.
Description of Work: Hired the company to replace the siding on our 2200 sq ft house. Included removal of old siding, house wrapping, and gutter replacement. Also had them build a small porch/outside entry and new doorway, and close up existing doorway, including demolition of concrete and granite steps.

Description of Work: Duane replaced the roof as well as a skylight. The entire project took one day and we were extremely pleased with the entire construction experience. Unforseen damage was discovered on an eve which required carpenter services to fix as well as painting. When discovered, Duane immediatly pulled the appropriate employee from another job to correct the damage including paint. We give Duane Mainardi the highest recommendatiion.

Didn't offer any information about the existing problems we were having (i.e. shingles fairly new and we found out from another contractor that we were eligible for a refund) His price was reasonable but was not what we needed repaired.

+ -1 moreOverall, Duane was excellent to work with. He was extremely knowledgable about his field and gave some great advice. I felt like he had our best interests at hand and did an excellent job of walking us through the options. I got 4 contractors to come out and give me a quote and while Duane wasn't the cheapest he was competitive. The biggest take away from our initial meeting was Duane's professionalism and how much pride he takes in his work. His team arrived early in the morning and quickly got to work. I am extremely happy with the finished product which was completed in one day. Additionally, I was amazed at how clean his team left the area when they were finished. I would absolutely recommend using Duane to anyone and will use him again myself if the need arises.
Description of Work: Our roof was leaking and had damage over a large section of it. The roof was completely replaced. Additionally, the ventilation holes with fans were removed and replaced by ridge vents in the new roof.

Description of Work: Very good communicator, got permits, answered questions quickly. Picked up that I had hurricane damage on my roof. I had many concerns re attic ventilation. Spoke with 5 different contractors and got 6 different answers. Who knew roof replacement could be so complicated. Wayne is knowledgable re roofing but he had to bring in insulation guys re ventilation the attic. Extra costs for ventilation ($500) assurance. i went from gable vents with attic fan to ridge vents with soffit ventilation. I was concerned that in my older home that the soffits were not clear. Still am concerned. Time will tell. Roofing work was excellent. Messy job site until the end. They cleaned up well. Destroyed a screen while working, (he forgot to reimburse me) had to remind crew to be careful re landscape. Crew primarily spanish speaking but very good. Time is an issue due to other commitments and weather. Roof solid!

+ 0 moreDumster arrived at 7:00am as well as contractor and 5 workers. Entire house was covered with tarps to collect old shingles and to protect shrubbery. They removed old shingles and then removed the tarps and discarded the debris in the dumpster and proceeded to cover the bare wood with tarpaper and then applied the new shingles. The skylights were removed and new ones installed. When roof was finished the crew went over the shrubbery and lawn to be sure all was clean and especially picfked up any stray nails with a rolling magnet gadget. My yard looked better than before they arrived. They finished in one day in very cold weather and the dumster was removed the next morning. I am thrilled with their workmanship!
Description of Work: Rip off old roof shingles and put on new shingles plus removal of three leaking skylights and replacing with new skylights. All debris was taken by dumpster and entire ground area was left in pristine condition.

+ -1 moreWhile our existing roof was not leaking, it was 24 years old and showed signs that it was in need of replacement. We were first referred to Duane Mainardi by a neighbor in 2009. At that time, Mr. Mainardi came out, performed an inspection, and gave an estimate. We obtained several other estimates and his was very competitive. But because of other matters, we decided not to proceed with replacement at time. This fall we decided to proceed with roof replacement and, because of our prior dealings in 2009, contacted Duane Mainardi. He returned to the house, performed another inspection, and issued another estimate. The new estimate was slightly higher than the 2009 estimate but that was to be expected. He provided us with samples from different manufacturers and of different styles and colors and was very patient as we made our final selection, answering several questions and providing additional information. When we made the final decision, he and his crew started work in two days. The work went as he had described and we are happy with the result.

+ 0 moreMainardi Company arrived at the scheduled time did an excellent repair and cleaned up the property after the work was completed. I had another company try to repair the leaks that I had in my porch but only Mainardi was able to completely stop the leaks for over a year now. He really tries to give you a reasonable price and stands by his original estimate. I was very pleased with his service.
Description of Work: Duane Mainardi replaced a skylight and a roof on a porch in 2010 and he repaired the roof of the house in 2011. He was timely with an estimate, had a reasonable price and did excellent work. I was not satisfied with a small aspect of the second roofing repair that his crew did and he can himself immediately to correct the problem. I will use him in the future and would refer friends and family members to his service.

+ 4 moreOverall, I believe the Mainardi's would provide quality work. My discontent comes from the significant difference between the verbal quote and the written estimate.
Description of Work: Duane was quick to respond initially, and arrived on site for look at our problem. Within a week he left me a voicemail saying "no more than $X" for the entire job. After several weeks (and dealing with his brother, who he had transferred the job to), I received a written estimate for approximately 15% more than the verbal quote, with no reasons given. Recently, I was given an explanation for the added price for the quote, but have since had the work done by a different contractor.

+ 1 moreAll work was guaranteed. None of my landscaping was damaged by the construction repairs. All debris was removed from the jobsite which looked so clean upon completion of this job it looked like the landscaper had just come by. I am very satisfied with the quality work, cost, and expertise of this contractor, and he was very attentive to extra details. He was not the most inexpensive contractor I interviewed, but he knew the most about structural integrity and design. Because of his expertise, my home actually looks better now than before ice and snow damaged it! Give him 5 stars. You really get your money's worth!
Description of Work: Tail ends to roof rafters were replaced, others repaired at no additional charge, a portion of the roof was reroofed, facia removed and replaced, damaged gutters and downspouts were removed and replaced, and damaged siding was replaced with new.

They cleaned up after their work and even cleaned my gutters at no extra cost. He did not try to talk me into any additional work that I did not need at this time as opposed to other companies that had given us estimates. He also checked with us as the work was going on and then again when it was completed to make sure all the repairs were up to our expectations. We am happy to say the repairs exceeded our expectations. We would highly recommend this company.
Description of Work: Duane Mainardi repaired two damaged portions in our roof from raccoons. He also replaced our soffits and a rake board and painted the wood. His estimate and actual final cost were reasonable compared to some of the other estimates we received. Duane listened to our request and gave us two pricing options to consider and explained both options thoroughly. He helped us make the best decision for the maintenance of our home.

+ 7 moreDuane is a great and honest contractor/builder. He believes in doing the job right and making sure his clients are happy with the work. Although he runs a business, his costs were extremely reasonable and very fair. He cares more about the project and making the client happy. He is quick to respond and give you an estimate but also educate you on different options available. Good, bad or ugly he tells you what is happening as the project moves forward and communicated any changes that needed to happen. I would recommend his services to anyone that has projects needed.
Description of Work: In March of 2010 a major wind/ice storm hit our house causing major damage to the roof and interior of the house. Duane was quick to respond to our emergency and came over to look at the damage. Immediately he showed me that the shingles had completely deteriorated causing the leaks in several areas. The shingles were being lifted up by the wind and the water was coming in below. It caused 6 rooms in the house to have significant damage, including water pouring in through electrical lighting (fire hazard). Duane showed me different styles of shingles and took an extra step and helped work through the tedious process of dealing with our homeowners association to get approval. He immediately came and replaced the roof. He also replaced the fire plywood on the top of the house that was damaged. We tested his work in the rain storm that came days later and there were no leaks anywhere. Duane was extremely detail oriented making sure that the job was done right the first time. He also cleaned up all the materials and hauled the garbage away. Shortly after, he started working on our interior. Again, there was no guessing when it came to price. Duane is very upfront with his costs. The work began and he was extremely careful to cover all of our furnishing and carpet. A window had to be replaced in the house. We had rotting around the wood, that was replaced. He installed the new window and caulked around it showing us how the damage was caused on that window. He hauled the old window away. He cut out the ceiling and put in new sheet rock in the rooms that required it. He spackled and painted other areas that needed it. Soem of these were not in the estimate and his response was, I do it right. Obviously, we were not charged for his above and beyond efforts, but what a difference it made in the look. He then spackled and sanded the areas of sheet rock, then painted. He also was able to create a storage area where we had "dead space" from a bay window seat that was not functional. I can't see any of the seams from where he had cut out the ceiling and the workmanship done on the new storage seat is amazing. He even caulked the interior and laid plywood down and painted the interior of the seat for a nice finish. He also fixed nail pops in all of these rooms as well. Again, everything was clean and detailed. No mess and no regrets.
