The guy said I have a bad valve and need to replace it. He first proceeded to remove my back flow preventers that were above ground. He said I didn't need them and is better to put everything underground. While he was replacing that one bad valve, he told me that I should replace them all given the other two are old and will break soon. Then he scam me an annual maintenance contract for the winterization. He would give me a discount for the job if I purchase the maintenance. When he removed the two good valves, he immediately dropped those off to his van. When I told him that my husband would like the old parts back, he gave me back the pipes connecting to the one bad valve, and refuse to give me the good valves. Overall the visit cost me more than $1000. Because he was so unfriendly and dishonest, I didn't want him back for winterizing. The next spring when I turn on the sprinkler system, there were soil and brown color in my water system. Obviously due to him removing my back flow preventer. I didn't use my sprinkler anymore for the rest of the year. I turn on my sprinkler this June and found that only the first zone came up. Further investigation at the valves box found that water is splashing out from one of the valve he replaced. We also found that the wires were messy and submerged in water. What's even worst is he didn't use the water proofed silicon protected wire connectors. My original installation had wires in the water protection tubes. The timer controller was not able to control the sprinkler operation. So the system might be shorted. My husband had to replace the bad valve, test and rewired the entire system. The system is still without the back flow prevention. Don't use Royal Irrigation if you want your sprinkler to last.
