I used Kitchen Trends (Randy Smith) to take out my single kitchen sink and put in a double stainless steel sink and garbage disposal both of which I had already purchased. I had three other contractors come to look at the job and all declined. The counter top had to be enlarged for the new sink to be installed and all others declined because of fear of cracking the counter top when cutting the extra space. Randy assured me he could do the job. I hired him and he did the job to perfection. That's what he is. A perfectionist ! Cost wise maybe a slight higher than others but then you get what you pay for.

After mtg in August 2018 Randy spent hours doing measurements and while not providing a quote stated that he would need 2-3 months to complete his current contracts. He left with the intent to draw up plans and we scheduled a follow up mtg on 10/2/2018. Two days prior to that mtg he emailed stating that his plate was filled and was backing out. I lost 3 months of planning my remodel since I said I would wait for his input. Can't judge his capabilities except that he is not anyone I would recommend as he is not professional and cannot be relied upon.

I was 7 months pregnant when we discovered waste water was leaking from the upstairs bathroom in our vacation home. A cursory look at the problem indicated a lot of other issues with our 1970s bathroom so we opted to remodel it completely. We needed a reliable contractor who could work with us from 60 miles away (where we live). While Randy's quote was higher than the two others we got, we felt it was also the most realistic about the amount of work needed to fix the myriad of issues. The bathroom was like a rotten onion, every layer peeled back revealed more problems. Due to the extent of the work needed the whole process took about 4 months. Throughout the process Randy was communicative, an essential quality given the problems we found once the tile and drywall were opened up. Our "bathroom remodel" ended up involving completely reframing a wall, sistering all of the floor joists, rerouting incorrectly wired electrical work, and even some totally unrelated things like putting on a new storm door. Randy sent photos of the problems he found as he fixed them. Some of the other rooms had to be cut into to access the pipes, and he patched them back up so well I wouldn't have known had I not seen it myself. What could have been an extremely stressful process went very smoothly. I had a pretty specific idea of what I wanted in the bathroom's design. We did a tile floor, custom tile shower with a bench and storage niches, and a custom storage cabinet to fill an awkward space between the shower and wall. Randy helped us work out a few of the quirks to the bathroom's layout, and guided us on a few of the things I wasn't sure of. I had to rely on him to make a few aesthetic decisions since I wasn't there, and I was very happy with the results. The few times I visited the house during construction I was impressed how clean and organized the work area was. Overall I couldn't be more pleased with his work. Having a contractor who can do quality work efficiently and without supervision was a huge relief.
Description of Work: We hired Randy to completely remodel our bathroom when the waste line started failing last fall. It was a complete gutting and then some, with work extending to other parts of the house due to how the waste line is routed.

From the first drawings, to the final mirror handing, we could not ask for a more professional craftsman. He guided us through the many options and selections from the total gutting down to the studs to the final small details. The project was on budget and on time--the whole project was done when he said. The workmen were very clean and kept cleaning up each night, using drop clothes and plastic sheets that kept the powder from tear down to a minimum in the attached bed room. Since the bathroom, we have used Randy to make a custom outdoor furniture piece which is also beautiful and functional. I would recommend this company/craftsman for any project, small or big. The big gain is you get a professional designer at no extra cost when planning your project.
Description of Work: Very professional designer and remodeler who worked with us when we made changes to bathroom remodeling. We redid a twelve year old "builders" bathroom and now have a design that could be seen in any design magazine. It turned out so very functional and beautiful.

Randy Smith met with us and discussed our bathroom renovation needs. He met with us again to review the plan. Randy is polite and easy to work with. He communicated well through out the whole renovation process. Everything in our bathroom is beautifully installed. The work was done in a timely manner and his office manager keeps on top of items needing attention. We wholeheartedly recommend the work of Randy and the Kitchen Trends team.

We are still working with them to possibly use them for bathroom and kitchen remodeling. They had a lot of experience and they take a lot of pride in what they do, and their employees too.

My house goes for around $200,000, some of the prices they mentioned for certain items would be for a $400,000 - $500,000 home.

Randy and Iris were terrific to work with. I live in Kansas but was remodeling the home I grew up in which was located in South Jersey. They were willing get the tools necessary to help us better communicate (e.g., scanner, Skype calls, etc.). Always very happy to help and adjust as necessary. Randy, responded to initial call immediately and made an appointment to see the spaces to remodel within the next day or two. He measured and came back with a new design after hearing about my preferences. We worked together to refine the design. Iris was great responding to emails and working to find the best fixture, materials, appliances at the best prices. She spent a lot of time on it and did great follow up. We really didn't have a timeline to finish the job as I wasn't in much of a rush, but Randy was on top of it and his crew worked everyday to get it done. As new issues or new ideas, Randy was ready to help with an adjustment to the design or figure a workaround that worked. With every old house there are undiscovered problems. He noticed a serious one while working in the basement and brought it to my attention. Glad he fixed it or that problem would have surfaced sooner than I would have expected. Now this process will go a lot smoother if you have an idea about what you want. I showed Randy pictures of things I liked and he worked each element into the design -- down to the barn door from the entry way to the kitchen. It is easy for the budget to get out of hand. I wanted to put a B for price but I realized I was responsible for the choices made for the remodel and things added up faster than I had anticipated; they were all necessary things. So, if you have a budget and you are dealing with an old house, then you need to stay on top of it. I will say it was all worth the price as I have gotten a ton of compliments on the Kitchen remodel. A year later I am still getting folks who mention it to me.
Description of Work: Tear out of existing kitchen, design new one, order cabinets, remodel it; Create a powder room from an old laundry room; moved plumbing lines; Remodeled entry/mud room Plumbed for an upstairs bathroom Created a new laundry room upstairs Fix unforeseen things that come with an old house...like there was no insulation in the kitchen or there was a rotted out board in the basement that needed replacing or the wall it was holding up was going to sag.

The tile backsplash had to all be removed, including some built-in items that then necessitated new insulation and repairing the wall, then fixing the entire wall to receive the new tiles I had chosen. The old counter was ripped out; the height for the new counter had to be raised to accommodate the new appliances. The window sill was removed and a new one made of the counter quartz installed. Some cabinets had to be removed and made into a different size to fit around the new appliances which the contractor installed. There were new door and window moldings; new plumbing under the new sink (the old pipes were ready to pop a leak); and a new garbage disposal. A heating duct had to be relocated and a new vent fashioned to match the baseboard; a gas line installed for the new stove (the old stove was electric). When the counter supplier had a problem, which then became our problem, my contractor made a temporary counter to use that was nice enough to almost mistake for permanent. I am so happy with my new kitchen. The details to finding the hardware I wanted, at the best price, and helping me know which style was best was very "distressing" for me. Randy has a decorator's eye for which I am so grateful. Among other things, he showed me how much nicer a colored grout was than the white I was going with. Randy custom made a pull-out shelf with an electric plug in one cabinet so I can keep my toaster out of sight. I love, love it. He made the counters a bit bigger than my old ones, even though we used the old cabinets. The extra space is great. We needed a special piece on the new dishwasher, which Randy made to match the baseboard in the rest of the kitchen. It's much harder to remodel an old kitchen, working with what's there than it would be to just gut the room and start from scratch; but Randy did it; and I'm thrilled with it. I really have to say how pleasant it was to have Randy's workers in our home, also. They worked so hard; but they were always sociable and accommodating (even to getting some cat dishes I had dropped behind the washing machine); and anything else I needed help with. Doing a remodel is stressful; but these guys made it the very least. They left my kitchen spotless each day when they left. It's also imperative that I give credit to Randy's wife, Iris. I had a problem with a new appliance. She took hold of this and 'moved heaven and earth' to have the supplier correct the problem. She wouldn't allow me to be worried about it at all. Randy always made sure to work around my scheduling. Even now, if I call with a question or any "tweaking", I am never put off. Randy answers my question or comes over immediately. I am looking forward to doing another project with "Randy and Company", ie, Kitchen Trends.
Description of Work: With the exception of changing the cabinets, he completely redid my kitchen.

We have used Kitchen Trends on 2 occasions. The first time we needed a cabinet re-ftitted for a new refrigerator. Randy did an excellent job in making the space larger but also left room for upper storage, which was a delicate job. The second job we had a lazy susan which had not been working for months. We had tried several installers who worked with our particular brand of cabinet without success. Randy came and instantly knew that he would be able to repair the lazy susan and within a week he had it working as good as new.

Description of Work: Kitchen Trends provided excellent service and professional work in the remodeling of our kitchen. They were punctional, clean and professional and the quality of their work was exceptional. My husband and I were satisfied with the price and they kept to the schedule they promised. Randy, the owner of Kitchen Trends was recommended to us when our original kitchen contractor left us withour finishing the job. Randy came to our rescue and was able to pick up the work and get us finished for the Holidays. we were very happy with him and his worker Rich. We hired them to work on our dining room and loved the crown moulding and medallion they installed for us. I would highly recommend Kitchen Trends and would hire them again.
