I had popcorn ceilings all throughout the first floor of my new home. They gave me an estimate to sand, spackle and paint and promised it would look like a flat ceiling. I had another company give me an estimate to sheetrock over and they said it wouldn't be totally flat so I was skeptical of Wilber saying it would be flat but it was cheaper so I went with them. When they go their on the first day I asked for an estimate upstairs which was a textured ceiling and had vents that needed to be removed and filled with sheetrock. They did all of the ceilings within 3 days and they all looked PERFECT! They got their every day on time and cleaned up everything. I am very pleased with their work and will be using them again when I do the oustide of my house.
Description of Work: Sanded off and spackled popcorn ceiling in 3 rooms and hallway. Sanded and spackled textured ceiling in 3 rooms. Removed vents, sheetrocked, spackled areas within those 3 rooms. Painted all 3 rooms.

The set up to schedule the project after the estimate took a little longer than I expected but Wilber's staff always communicated professionally and timely. I was very impressed by the how clean, skilled, and well organized the painter (Jonathan) worked. He covered all the furniture and surfaces, like the bathtub, sink, toilet, floor areas, so no paint splattered on them. The bedroom has a white ceiling and light green walls with a walnut crown molding between them. He did his job so well that I couldn't see any paint on the molding afterwards. The price was reasonable and included the cost of the paint (Benjamin Moore). I would definitely hire this contractor again.
Description of Work: They prepped and painted a good sized bedroom and connecting bathroom. The bath required extra work with sanding and finishing of the walls and then priming them. The job took 6-7 hours over 2 days so the spackle and primer could dry over night. They arrived a little late the first day because of traffic, but called me to let me know what happened. The painter was on time to start work the second day. The job was completed then.

Wilber had already painted the homes of a few family members so I was confident going in that this was going to be a good experience. We did meet with other painters before deciding to go with Willber and they actually came in with the lowest price. The men were very polite, showed up on time and worked hard all day long. They are very good at what they do. I don't even recognize our house as it now looks so good.

The overall job was done quickly and efficiently especially considering the weather conditions at that time. However, I would have preferred discussing terms of payment at the start of the job. In addition, I prefer that all trim be included (only wooden window sils were done as opposed to metal or aluminum) and clean-up could have been improved.

My house was sorely in need of painting. I tried to get 3 estimates. I only ended up with two because one guy never even showed up. Wilber's was the only one who came when he said he would - and his estimate was lower than the 2nd one I did get. (The other 2 names I got from friends; I found Wilber's on Angie's List). They showed up for work when they said they would. They completed the work promptly - and cleaned up well each day. My house looks great! I would recommend Wilber's without any reservation. My only small complaint is that, although we discussed the fact that some of the siding needed to be replaced, when it actually came time to do it, there was a bit of confusion - and the guys from Wilbur had to go out and buy the shingles, a whole box for almost $100 - in order to use about 3 pieces of wood from this huge box... Of course the price of the shingles was added to my final bill. Where the pieces of siding would come from should have been discussed in advance. Maybe we could have avoided the extra $100 charge.

Description of Work: Wilber's did a nice job -- they were professional and the quality was good. Our only disappointment was that my husband had set up an appointment after the job was complete to meet Wilber in person and give him payment and some positive feedback, and he cancelled at the last minute.

Wilbur arrived on time for the estimate. Really nice and professional. Estimated two days of work and price. Estimate was higher than I wanted but was willing to go with him because of good reviews - glad I did. Wilbur's staff arrived on time, ready to work. Limited english ability but great folks. I ended up having to reschedule the 2nd day but Wilbur and staff were accommodating. Job was completed on time and on budget. Color looks great. Quality was workmanship was excellent.

We priced out Rutgers and Wilber and were impressed with both and went with Wilber on price. They did a great job with all of our projects and finished all in a timely basis. The one area on a door that bubbled due to missing primer the fixed right away when we called them. We would definitely recommend them.

We had an excellent result. Getting a price quote took a day. Price was competitive. Wilber's showed up as promised and kept a good consistent daily schedule. Communications were easy. The crew was very polite. Nightly, the crew cleaned up the work area. The job ended on time and as projected. No complaints. We do give a "Tip of the Hat" to Wilber's and their professionalism.

They were recommended on the list and we also got personal recommendations. They were very good and we were very pleased with what they did. They did a very nice job. We spent about $6,000 and that involved chipping our three storeys house all the way around and refinishing the deck. They came when they said they would and were neat and did what they were supposed to. They were friendly, business-like and took their sign away. We thought that the price was fair considering all the work they did. One thing that bothered me was that they wanted us to look at the job at sunset as soon as they finished. It turned out that they had forgotten to paint a part of the house, which they came back and did. They fixed everything on the list we had. Otherwise they were absolutely professional.
Description of Work: We used Wilber’s Painting and they painted the exteriors of our house and finished the work about 10 days ago.

After reading all of the stellar reviews of Wilber's painting I arranged for an estimate from Wilber's in June of 2010. Christian showed up exactly on time on the promised date. We walked around the house and garage and looked at what needed to be done. As opposed to some of the other company representatives that came to my house to give me a quote, Christian took a tremendous amount of time explaining in great detail everything that would be done from start to finish. To ensure a quality job, Christian said that the entire house should be stripped to bare wood, then primed with an oil based primer and finally painted with 2 coats of a quality latex paint. Christian showed me pictures of other houses they had stripped to bare wood and then repainted, as well as all of his contractor's licenses and certifications for lead remediation. 2 days later, I received the quote via email and was pleased to find it was LESS than the other paint contractors. Christian called to make sure I received the quote and to ask if I had any other questions or concerns. I hired them on the spot. The paint job was delayed for about 2 weeks because of bad weather. This is to be expected with any kind of outdoor job. The important thing is that communication was great - I received notification in advance that the job would be delayed and they kept in touch until the day the work was scheduled to start. The first day they arrived to begin stripping the paint was THE hottest day of the summer of 2010. I couldn't believe the way these guys worked. All of the work areas were tented off and the workers were dressed in spacesuits and tethered to their HEPA vaccuum machines. Over the course of 2 days, both of which were 100 degrees, they stripped the whole house to bare wood, as promised. I found out later that Wilber's actually put a note in the mailboxes of the adjacent neighbors telling them about the work that was going to be done, that lead paint was going to be removed, how it was going to be contained, and who to contact if they had any questions or concerns. I don't know if that is required by law, but that is fantastic service! Over the course of the next 10 days, the crew varied from 2-4 guys and they primed and painted the house and garage. My house was built in 1930 so I also had contracted Wilbur's to remove any loose glazing on the windows and replace it. This is kind of fussy detail work and there are 31 windows in my house. They did a fantastic job and even cleaned up every window with windex after the glazing and painting was done. One window did get cracked during this process (to be expected with 80 year old glass) but the crew replaced it the very next day. I am fortunate to work from home so I was able to watch the progress first hand and in detail. Even though the weather was still blazingly hot, the crew only stopped briefly for lunch and stayed until at least 6pm every day. They even asked if it was OK if they worked on Sunday, since bad weather earlier in the summer had set them back a little and they wanted to get caught up. What a tremendous work ethic. Another thing I was pleased to see is that the crew used a large roller on my house instead of a pneumatic sprayer. From what I understand, hand application with a roller helps the paint adhere to the surface better than a spray application. There was also a tremendous amount of caulking and patching to be done on the house, not only because of it's age but also because it had been covered with aluminum siding which I had removed prior to the paint crew's arrival. The crew was very attentive to detail and any gaps which could let water in or just look ugly were caulked up and then painted. I hired Wilber's carpentry crew to replace screens on my back porch. This was not a challenging job. But just the same, the crew (different than the paint crew) showed up on time and did a great job. If you have some small carpentry jobs to be done before painting, I would definitely let them quote it out for you rather than getting a separate contractor. The transformation of my historic house is nothing less than incredible. People slow down to look at it and stop me in the street to tell me how great it looks. I know they got at least one other job from people that looked at my house. I waited a long time to save up to have this job done right and I would recommend Wilber's 100%
Description of Work: Strip the entire exterior of a historic house to bare wood. Lower part of house is clapboard, top is shingle. 2 coats of oil based primer, 2 coats of latex paint on lower part of house. 2 coats of solid body latex stain on upper part of house (shingles). Re-glaze old windows as needed. Sand garage exterior as needed (had been stripped to bare wood about 5 years ago), 2 coats of oil based primer, 2 coats latex paint. Carpentry: Replace old screens on porch.

They did an excellent job. I am very pleased with the quality of the work, and the experience. The only downside was that Wilber estimated the job would take three days and it took five. I would have expected a larger crew to get the work done more quickly. But it was no big deal; the work was done beautifully. They arrived every day exactly when they said they would, and the workers were extremely professional and polite. The workmanship was excellent. They asked me to check things over every step of the way and re-did anything I didn't like (which was not much). They even went out of their way to buy me new outlet covers to replace old ones (and didn't charge me). I think I paid a fair price. All in all, I am very pleased and will definitely use them again.

Great - we were amazed and the speed and efficiency in which the crew completed the job. We received several estimates from a few other well-know painters in the area, but valued the approach Wilber took in personally coming out to provide us with the estimate and to walk us through exactly what would be done. He was not the cheapest estimate, but he was able to "meet us in the middle" of our lowest estimate. In addition, we paid particular attention to his estimate compared to the others' and there were some differences (Wilber seemed to be more thorough). We also replaced our gutters at the same time so he promised to return this year to paint the leaders - to match the house - once the gutters 'weather' a bit.

Christian came to our house to review Wilber's services and provide a quote. I felt comfortable with him right from the start. I didn't get the sense he had an agenda or was trying to sell me something extra - he simply wanted to provide the best service possible. In addition to being up front and honest, he was clearly an expert in his field. After a lot of research, my wife and I were pretty set on our color selections. But, when Christian walked around the house to review the project and discuss color choices, he made small color recommendations - specifically when it came to our trim. We decided to follow his suggestions and I'm glad we did - it looks much better. He also pointed out areas that needed repair that I wasn't aware of, so his attention to detail was outstanding. His crew, led by Victor, was always on time and very professional. I work at home a few days a week, so I was able to look out the window every now and then and watch. The crew stuck to the task and worked very hard. On day 2, when I was talking to Victor, I mentioned I was going to hang shutters. Victor casually said, "Why don't you just let me do that. It's no problem" and he did (with no additional charge). I actually felt so comfortable with them that my wife and I offered our key to them when we went away for the day so they could use the bathroom. That's not something we typically do. I would recommend Wilber's Painting based on their professionalism, price, and the quality of their work. The total job took four days - exactly what they promised up front.
Description of Work: We hired Wilber's Painting to paint the exterior of the house, our garage, and our retaining wall. The house has aluminum siding that is in good condition, but parts of the foundation needed patchwork, and the concrete walls on the garage had paint that was chipping away. Wilber's prep work was fantastic. They caulked our windows, carefully patched our cement wall and foundation in areas where it was crumbling away, and power washed the entire house (they took the time to walk around the house to ensure all the windows were up before starting the power wash). Several employees hand scraped the concrete walls on the garage to smooth the surface and then performed a light wash with bleach. The crew then painted our entire house - the siding, trim, foundation, doors, garage, garage door, and retaining wall.

Wilber always returned phone calls if I was not able to reach him on his cellphone. His crew arrived when they said they would and cleaned up afer each day's work. After the first day's work, there appeared to be tears in the border. I called Wilber in the evening, he promised to look at it the next morning. His crew arrived at 8am, having been called by Wilber, to relay my concern, with Wilber on his way behind them. It turned out to be spackle, easily removed. We appreciated Wilber's prompt action and the genuine concern on the part his crew. Wilber's price was the best of three estimates and his work was excellent. We would definitely recommend him.
Description of Work: Remove wallpater in dining room up to, but not including, the border (also wallpaper). Prepare walls for painting: repir cracks, apply skim coat to walls. Sand walls and trim. Prepare and paint woodwork (window frames, walls up to chair rail). Offered faux finish for walls to approximate wallpaper in adjoining foyer and living room. Brought collaborator to apply faux finish.

This review is LONG overdue!!! Christian and his team were amazing!!! We could not be happier with the end result achieved through all their hard work and effort. What sold us on working with Wilber's was Christian himself when he came out to give us the job estimate... he has the perfect balance of courtesy, professionalism and a friendly disposition. He estimated a fair price that fell right in the middle of what we were getting quoted. His visit took a decent amount of time... we did not feel rushed, nor intruded upon. He gave us time to think over his offer; he did not pressure us at all. Christian himself was not on site during the job that often... so we worked mostly with his foreman and the team. The team primarily speaks Spanish only, which was not a problem... we learned to communicate with lots of sign language. Whenever something needed clarification... we were able to get our point across with the foreman (who spoke English) or on the occasions when Christian would come out to oversee some of the work himself. The scraping was extremely well done... getting the original paint out of the corners, etc. The carpentry work was SUPERIOR (unexpectedly!). We needed a replacement on one of the back panels of our sun porch... the carpenter took the time to match the moulding detail work. A fair amount of shingles had to be replaced on the house itself, this was handled efficiently and with great care! The paint job itself required some go-over work... meaning, the green paint sometimes snuck up into the white trim, blah, blah, blah... but this detail was brought to Christian's attention and taken care of immediately!!! I would reccommend checking in on the job after each day. As is to be expected, the drop cloths and work did some damage to the garden/bushes... but nothing that was outstanding or irreplaceable (like I said, it's to be expected!). The guys worked hard and it became VERY CLEAR that customer satisfaction (no matter how finicky) was the top priority for Christian and his team!!!! Christian and WIlber's has a customer for life... we got cheaper estimates from other competitors, we met with the more well-known companies... but we are so pleased that we decided to go with Wilber's. They are fair, qualified, detailed and really great to work with!!! A++ Harry & David

Wilber's painting came to my house, gave a fair estimate and started work on time. There was always someone at their office to answer the phone and they always called if something changed. They were very neat and very professional. I only had one room painted this time, but Wilber's took their time to make sure everything was done well even though it wasn't a big job. I will definitely hire them again when my home addition is done. I was very happy with their work.

They responded right away to an email through their website and set up an estimate on a weekend. The price they gave was much better than a quote we got elsewhere and also provided good advice. It was also clear that painting is their main focus (the higher quote was from a general contractor). The job went smoothly. The only reason I gave a "B" for responsiveness rather than an "A" is that communication was not as good when scheduling the job and when the job was complete. Overall we were very satisfied.

My friend highly recommended him. I interviewed about a dozen or more painters and Wilber was the only one that met me with extra things like brochures and different colors and different types of paint. His estimate was right in the middle so I knew it was a fair price. When they started, they came every day and worked all day, every day. They worked for about seven days and they left the place clean everyday and when they were done overall, they left the place clean. They were very pleasant to work with and they were quiet. I had no issues with them at all and I thought they were a very fun company to work with; they went the couple of extra steps that nobody else did.
Description of Work: I had painting done recently by Wilber's Painting. They painted the entire exterior of my house.
