I called name on sticker from when installed by prior owner, but plumber had apparently retired, so I suppose Slattery bought his list or got calls routed to his company. They did send out guys pretty quickly but I could soon sense that they had me over a barrel, with no hot water, as I was provided quotes that obviously were inflated, going from about 2.5K to over 4K for a new tank. I told them I'd discuss with wife and that they could leave, so I called another plumber and got the work quickly done with a new heater for 1K under lowest quote from Slattery.

+ -1 moreI made an appointment 4 weeks in advance to install the shower pan at my Son's home. The day before, I received a call that there was an emergency and that the work would have to be re-scheduled. I wasn't happy but understood emergencies come first. When I re-scheduled the earliest time they had was 2 weeks out and I said OK. The day before the installation I received a call that the plumber who gave us the estimate quit and that I had to re-schedule again. I WAS VERY VERY ANGRY. Not only did they cancel the installation but they never ordered the parts. and I had to cancel the tile guy who had scheduled for 2 days work to do his part. This has been going on since mid September and we are now in December. I have recommended Neil Slattery to many friends prior but have called them since to remove my recommendation.

+ 0 moreThey had to take out the old water heater and put a brand new one in and all, plus they did other things along with that. Something wasn't up to code so they had to do some work in the house; take out some - not illegal - but I guess it wasn't sort of up to code. I guess they had to re-do a lot of the piping and some of the duct work. They're great. I use them all the time. They're great; very reliable, very reasonable. The office is very nice, they're very responsive, they get back to you the same day; it was pretty good. I've been using them for years. I found the price very reasonable for what they did. They clean up, they do a good job, don't leave a mess. We use them all the time. They're coming back to do more work for me. I've had a long relationship; he's very, very good.
Description of Work: They replaced our heater, water heater, inspected all our air conditioning system and changed the filters.

+ 0 moreI've been working with them on and off for the last four, five years maybe. Every time we move, we have some plumbing done, so they're the ones that do it. As a matter of fact I've gotta call them today and have them come back out and do some more work. It's very, very good. The thing is, I don't want it to get out and that's my problem, that's why I'm hesitant - because they're really nice, good, and then other people are going to use them and then I won't be able to get them back to do my stuff. They're very good; they're all over the place; they're a really good group. I just leave a key under the door and they just come in and do it; I don't have to be there. They come in and do the work - I didn't even know they were there - and then I found out that they were there and did all the work.
Description of Work: I have a 3-unit system there, so they inspected each in the different buildings for me. So they cleaned out the filters, they examined the air conditioners to be sure that they're ready for the summer.

+ -1 moreI have found a plumber I will be using from now on. I used Angie's List to message 3 plumbers to install a gas dryer and for quotes. Neil was the first to respond, as well as the only one to do so via the messaging service through Angie's List (Others wanted me to call), and asked all the right questions, plus made sure I knew that the retailer I bought the dryer from probably offers installation. They did, but Neil provided the parts, service and takeaway whereas the retailed would only do the installation and Neil's pricing on the project was very reasonable. Neil's team kept me updated about my scheduling for the next day installation. When Neil arrived he was professional, friendly and explained what was going on throughout the procedure. I really felt as though I was being taken care of and that my business was appreciated. Neil went out of his way, consistently, to make me feel as though I was a valued customer and he did a great job.
Description of Work: Install a gas dryer providing all the parts and take away.

+ 1 moreOur hot water heater started leaking on a Sunday evening. After turning off the water and cleaning up the mess we searched Angie's List for a local plumber and tried this one. I'm glad we did. They advertised 24 hour contact the they indeed had someone answer the phone at around 11:00pm. Its probably an answering service of some kind but that's fine. It wasn't a true emergency and I didn't need someone to come out that night. Neil the owner called us back first thing the next morning (7:30am) and we discussed the issue. He was able to juggle the schedule and get a plumber out to us within the hour. After confirming my fear that the old heater had indeed failed he went over the variety of options available to us. Once I decided which way I wanted to go he asked if I wanted him to go ahead and do the install right away. Naturally I said yes! He immediately ordered the new water heater and began to remove the old one. It took 3-4 hours to totally complete the job (removal, delivery and installation). The price was reasonable especially when the high quality new heater was factored in. Very professional service from start to finish. I certainly recommend Neil and his team. If I need a plumber I will definitely call them again.

Description of Work: I called Neil Slattery heating and plumbing and they responded immediately, professionally, with the highest quality pros and products, with good pricing. We had a solar hot water system that was built in 1987 and didn't work, but which had a complicated plumbing system that had to be deconstructed and replaced with an electric hot water heater. Slattery Plumbing not only did a really good job of capping off the old solar system, eliminating the complexity of the plumbing at the same time, but also did a great job of installing the new hot water heater at a good price. Best part of this is that they did it on Monday morning after I setup the appointment on the previous Saturday. Last but not least. I also called the companies rated at the top of Angie's List for water heater service. They all wanted to charge a lot more for the exact same water heater and installation, didn't call back until Monday after Slattery had completed the install, and truthfully, the people on their answering machines or who did call, didn't sound competent. They said, "Uh, I don't know if we can do that." "Uh, we don't use Bradford White water heaters." (which are rated best), and "We would only be able to schedule you as soon as we can." W**??? Slattery Plumbing goes the extra mile to get the job done right. They even took care of getting the inspector to come and certify the new installation (a regulation in NJ). It was one stop happy shopping all the way with Slattery Plumbing. Thanks

+ -1 moreThe plumber discussed the cost of the various jobs I needed done, plus the cost of service contracts on the heating and a/c (I was looking for a combination plumber/HVAC service). All the plans were far above my price range. Since I was paying for a service visit anyway, I decided to go ahead with replacing the ball valve, which was done professionally and quickly. The plumber who came was very helpful, but I decided to find another company for my other projects.
Description of Work: Replaced ball valve to outside faucet. Also discussed cost of heating and a/c service contracts, and problem with kitchen faucet.

+ -1 moreEverything went well, except for a minor issue discovered after he left. He reversed the hot and cold valves in the supply box, but I was able to correct for this by simply reversing the handles, so the hot valve handle was red again and the cold, blue.
Description of Work: Replaced the supply fixture/box to the clothes washer. This involved removing wall board. Also, extended a gas line and replaced the gas shut-off valve to the clothes dryer.
