I called Walt McCollum for an active leak in the toilet on my second floor, which was dripping into my laundry room. They responded quickly and replaced not one. but two toilets that were not properly installed by a previous contractor. The work was done in a timely manner and everyone I spoke with professional and responsive to all my questions.

I am sad to give a local company a bad review. I want to support local businesses. I believe the company itself is decent, but this particular installer is sloppy, slow moving, careless, not thinking, not very technically inclined, blamed the company when parts were missing instead of proactively trying to resolve the problem, the list goes on. I also must say, working 3.5 hours the first day, then 4.5 to 5 hours the next two days made no sense to me. Showing up late, packing tools up exactly at 3:30 and sitting in a idling truck for 30 minutes in my driveway until 4PM was the standard work day for this installer. If they had worked an extra 1.5 hours each day, they would have finished an entire day earlier, saved the company money, and would have been able to move on to another assignment. This is mind-boggling. The first day was an absolute disaster. They removed the old system, and tried to set up a pad outside for the much larger AC unit. The installer discovered that he didn't have the right size pad, so he started pouring white gravel all over my grass, to put the unit on it. I saw this and immediately stopped them, and asked "Where is the pad for this?" "I don't know. Someone in the office messed up, and didn't order the right size." "Do you have an extra one of the right size in your office?" I asked. "I dunno" was his response. I called the office, and the woman who answered said she also did not know. I stopped my own work, spent two hours online finding a local distributor who would ship same-day. Grainger out in Western NJ came through. I told them it was urgent, they had the right size pad, shipped it overnight, and it arrived the next morning before the installers were here. I spent another hour of my time, bought bags of soil, removed all the rock they put down and threw it out, leveled the soil, and put the pad down. The pad with delivery costs $120 and arrived 12 hours after I ordered it. THANK YOU GRAINGER. After they left at 3:30 PM (!?!?!), I found screws, pieces of pipe and metal shavings in my driveway, a perfect storm of tire popping destruction. I had to clean this up as well. See all photos labeled "day_1" to follow me on this wonderful adventure. Day 2 was uneventful until the end. I look outside at the AC unit, and the orientation of it exposes a long stretch of copper tubing that will be dented and ruined by mowing, people's feet, etc. I had to tell them to rotate it. It didn't occur to them to try it, and see if the unit would still fit on the platform. It didn't even occur to them to ask me. I told them to rotate it, thankfully before they fully attached everything. I look on the morning of day 3 and it looks good...but whoops. He burnt the nearby PVC pipe when welding the copper tubing. See day_2 photos. Day 4, they wrap up and leave. He tells me that he installed an extension for the filter, so I don't have to open the unit to change the filter. Sounds nice, but when I look closer, I see why he didn't want me opening the unit. The frame had taken a bit of a beating when they brought it upstairs, and the bottom panel is very difficult to put on without using a screwdriver to bend the top bracket up, to allow the locks to slide in place. The top panel no longer fits in place, it is sticking out. I can live with this, but it would have been nice if he told me this happened, instead of leaving me to discover it. You can also see the sloppy tape job in the day_4 photos, with gaps in the tape. We have to touch this up ourselves. He said he'd run the new pvc vent through the roof, and instead ran it through the side of the house. The roof is 1.5 feet away, and would have been just as much cutting. Yes, the shingles would have taken a bit more work, but not much more. He got lazy, lied about putting it through the roof, took a shortcut without asking me, and left without saying a word about what he did. See day_4 pics. Really sloppy job. Nowhere near Angie's List quality. Don't let this guy near your project. He sends the younger guy off to do the heavy lifting, then gets on his phone. His work ethic is horrible and he's careless, doing the minimal required. He really should retire, and stop hurting the reputation of a known local business. When I discussed this with the owner, even he said, repeatedly: "Yeah, I know...I know" with a resigned and exhausted tone to his voice.

First, they were very flexible with scheduling and accommodated a change with no issue. The teams they sent were professional; treated our home a property with respect; completed the job with no issues and billed us accurately. Everything was right first time. We would not hesitate to use them again for any plumbing/heating/cooling issue we have.

Quick enough. Valve was received the next day. They came out and replaced it. We have used this company for 23 years and have never had a problem. If you call after hours they always call the next day. Very professional. They have never had to "do over" a repair.

In April they called me to schedule a heating system service. Since it was late in the season I told them I would call in May to have the AC serviced. In May I called and they said to call the first week in July. I call and they told me to call back in two weeks, which I did. When I called they were unable to set an appointment, I explained my frustration and the person taking the call told me she would "pull my card" and then hung up on me. About a week later I got a call on my voice mail that they would be servicing my unit the next day, which would be canceled if I did not return the call by 5:00PM. I called at 5:10 that evening and to my surprise they did show up the next day. I do not think a customer should have to work so hard to get what he paid for in a service contract.

Had to replace more due to age of gaskets, etc. Results like new.

The technician found the problem and fixed it at the indoor processor. He also did some extra checks to be sure all was right. My only issue was that there was no response to my first phone call; I had to call again for my appointment.

Excellent. Fast, reasonably priced, had the part handy.

Would Recommend! AC doesn't work, made an appointment and have they checked out; turn out to be collapsed air duck. They were booked up for two weeks but when they came, they not only fixed the air ducks but also make sure everything works correctly with great service. Mr. walt mccollum personally called after and apologized for late scheduling. Def would use their services again!!

Everything went very well from the time I placed the call for service until the job was completed the plumber arrived on time, explained what needed to be done and completed the job to my satisfaction. Tom the plumber was courteous, efficient and professional.

Excellent!! Great communication, professional service. Will be our plumber as long as we're in the Long Beach Island area.

We had initally called McCollums when our heater had broken down and they were quick to respond. Their customer service and decent price prompted me to sign up for the annual service plan. So far I am happy with the service.

It was a frigid valentines day Sunday and my family woke to no water, I tried the blow dryer & rick, but to no avail, TJ or JT came with his supersonic heater & all was well in a little while. He was very nice & professional.

I heard a good review of the company but when I called to schedule a visit my message was never returned.

These guys were great. We just moved into the house, and found an incredible amount of dust, everywhere.

This is a professional, top-notch company. We would not hesitate to highly recommend it!

He was the only one out of the people I called, which were3 or 4, who returned my call. He was prompt and responsive. He gave me a price that was reasonable with the understanding that the hole they dug filled with water before the inspection might need to be pumped again. The additional price was reasonable. It did need to be pumped again and the price he quoted me stated the same. There were no surprises. They performed the service within the timeframe. They provided the proper documentation to me and the township. The people I spoke with were very professional and polite. I will use them again if needed.

Arrived on time and performed the work professionally. Asked them to tighten a bathroom faucet and check the drain, which they did without complaint. They left no mess behind. The next day I got a call from Mark who was checking to see if everything was done to my satisfaction. I would definitely use them in the future and will recommend them to others in need of a plumber.

I was very happy with the service, from start to finish. I scheduled the appointment through Angie's List. They called to confirm the day before and gave me a two-hour window for the appointment. The plumber, TJ, arrived on time and was very pleasant, courteous and efficient. When I decided I wanted to replace the toilet instead of just repairing it, because it was old and rusting, they were able to provide and install the fixture within an hour of that decision., for a reasonable price. They also followed up the visit with a call the next day to make sure I was satisfied. I would definitely hire them again.

I called at 7:30am when it was 2 degrees outside. They came at 11:30 am and it was fixed by 11:4am

During this cold snap, my outbound sewer pipe froze solid on the evening of 2/17/15. I didn't know this at the time, only that there was a blockage and my bathtub was filling up with water, and that water was leaking out of the bottom of my toilet. I called several plumbers that evening. Walt McCollum was the first to call back before 8 AM the next morning. T.J., the technician, arrived shortly after 9AM. He was very nice, professional and knowledgeable! He correctly diagnosed that the outflow pipe was frozen solid and defrosted it. Then he reset my toilet. He did a great job. All things considered, I think the price was reasonable. The quick response, skill, and professionalism of this company means that I will definitely use them again and I wholeheartedly recommend them.

For several years at my home on Long Beach Island I've been using Walt McCollum Plumbing, Heating and Cooling. This visit our heater flue was replaced. The flue parts located above the fiberglass roof rusted and began to leak rain water into the heater room. Mark (the boss) sent one of his men to look at the problem and report back for an estimate. Upon receiving the estimate I agreed to the work. On the day of the repair the men were prompt, courteous, and professional. McCollum's service men always give me the time to ask questions and show me how the work will be done. The flue was installed relatively quickly and sealed with tar both inside the heater room and above the roof. Since then we have had several storms and it appears to finally be fixed! As with every visit, the men told me to contact them if I had any concerns. So far I have had none. I will continue to use Walt McCollum in the future. Mark always follows up to get my opinion on the completed job.
