Handyman Connection - Bergen County

Bob Longo did a great job including the sheetrock, painting and clean-up. The tenant, who was very angry over the whole situation, was again smiling after the work was completed. I was very pleased with the work and professionalism of Bob Longo and would definitely call again for any future work.

Bill Little arrived early on Tuesday, Oct 19 and we reviewed the job(s) that needed to be done, as listed above. He went to work immediately and placed drop cloths over all furniture and floors. He repaired the dining room ceiling and the linen closet wall. He made sure that all dust from sanding was contained and did not spread throughout the house. I appreciated this because I have allergies and I didn't have to tell him to do this. He painted the ceilings in the dining, living room, and basement hallway walls. He cleaned up what little mess there was and moved the furniture back into place. He was very efficient with his time and got the job done in 2 1/2 days. I will definitely recommend Bill and Handyman Connection to my friends. Thank you for the great work!

He never called. I contacted company again, no response - after weeks I had not been contacted. Horrible service.

A lovely gentleman named Tony from Handyman Connection arrived- did everything I asked of him, and even noted things which I had overlooked that needed fixing. Cleaned up well- in fact, I already recommended him to a friend!

We moved into a house that did not have a door, door jamb, or molding in the master bedroom. All we had was a odd sized opening. Installing a door involved building out from one of the walls, installing a pre-hung door, a door stop, and adding molding all to match the rest of the doors/molding on the 2nd floor landing. Called Handyman Services. They responded to us with in a day or two. They got us in touch with Bob Stahl who was going to install the door for us. Bob came and looked at the opening and gave us a materials and labor estimate. Bob was very prompt and understood our need to want the door to look like it matched and belonged in the house. Because of the odd sized opening the door was going to have to be special ordered. Bob took care of picking up all of the materials and ordering the door. About two weeks after we contacted HC our door was installed! It looks great! It took him about 3 hours. He did a very professional job - the door looked like had always been there! Bob cleaned up the area too, which I quite appreciated. For the materials cost and the labor it would have been the same price had we done it ourselves and bought the materials from Home Depot (because of the special size door) We could have attempted to install this door ourselves, but it wouldn't look nearly as professional. We will definitely keep Bob and HC in mind for our next project.

The handyman showed up on time and installed my new front door. He was curteous, professional, knowledgeable and neat. The frame on the new door was slightly smaller than the old one so he took it upon himself to go and pick up mortor compound and came back the next day to apply it. I was extremely satisfied with the whole experience and would recommend him to my family and friends.

So far, I am very happy with the jobs done. When the hydrolog system is completely in place I will know more.

They didn't do a bad job with the floor itself, but what happened to the surrounding environment was terrible. The job was to start at 10 AM, but the workers were late. Wallpaper was ripped off my walls. Molding was broken and chipped off as well. Mike, with M&M Construction, came and was in my home for about 20 minutes while he got 2 crew workers started. The Handyman Connection uses M&M Construction Consultants to complete some jobs. The day of the job, we showed Mike the damage to the baseboard, especially in the closet; he said he would return Monday to replace it. Later we discovered damage to the wallpaper and other molding, as well as the baseboard which was installed crooked. We paid Mike the day of service, as he stated he would return in 3 days to repair the molding. Mike didn't show on Monday. My husband first notified Mike left a message regarding the work yet to be done. He then spoke with Stephen, the owner of Handyman Connection, to complain about the damage to our home to let him know of our disappointment. We are sending an e-mail with pictures to The Handyman Connection. I want the wallpaper and chipped molding repaired, as well as the molding and baseboard in the closet fixed.

Initial contact with Handyman Connection was immediate. Following that I was contacted either that day or the next by the person who would do the work, Gary Falkenstern. Gary came that day and gave me an estimate for the work. He identified a few things that needed repair that we had just been living with. He arrived on Monday morning with all supplies and proceeded to repair or replace everything. He worked quickly, did a terrific job and left no mess.

Daniel was very detail oriented and considerate about doing the job right. I appreciated that were no surprise costs as we got underway with the project. Handyman Connection is true to their word about giving you a cost per job. I would defeinitely use them (Daniel) again and recommend them to any of my friends. I also liked how both Daniel and Handyman Connection followed up at the conclusion of the job to make sure that we were satisfied customers.

Stephen was superb after completing work he went through house with my list and offered expert advice on problem areas of our new home. Will be scheduling him for future larger projects.

Handyman Connection first contact was Valerie, who was very personable and easy to talk to. She got the details of the job I wanted done, and quickly referred me to the actual handyman, Bill Little, who would do the work. Bill called me the same day, and came over the following evening to assess the type of work. He suggested a few ways I could save money, and I was glad of that. It was a refreshing approach I had not expected. He offered to see if he could find replacement parts for our shower door instead of replacing everything. Though the intention was good, unfortunately he was unable to find a supplier that carried the parts and pieces that matched what we had. That's probably because the doors are an older model. We scheduled the work to be done at the end of the week. He was very considerate of our schedules and we found a date and time that would work. He was a little late coming to the house that morning, but at least called to give an estimated time he would come--and was punctual to that. He worked quickly and quietly, I stayed home and was on a couple of conference calls - didn't even know he was around. He was also very neat and clean--took away all the packaging of the shower doors, etc. The work was done to my satisfaction. Best part, with the coupon from Angie's List, the estimate of $275 came down to $225 plus tax. Painless and very professional all around. Good work, good guy, good price. Would definitely use them again, especially for some upcoming work as we prepare to sell our place. Thanks!

The overall experience was very good. The carpenter, Bill Little, was very responsive. When he gave us an estimate, he explained how he intended to do the repairs so there were no surprises. He was able to complete the work on schedule, and cleaned up the worksite so well that if it were not for the new boards on the deck, you wouldn't have know that someone had been working there.

Had a little trouble to start because original handyman left company after giving estimate. Replacement (Gary) followed up and left messages promptly. After a little delay due to my schedule and his - we set up an appointment for the work. I received a call the night before confirming the time the handyman would arrive the next day. He arrived exactly on time and completed the work in only a few hours. Most impressive was that in reading the original work order - he noticed that less work was done in the shower than was agreed upon with the 1st guy and my cost was adjusted accordingly. My closet shelves and carpeted floor now look just like I envisioned when this project began.

Overall the experience was very good. We only dealt with the owner over the phone on the initial call, and from then on we communicated directly with Gary Falkenstern. So our review is really in reference to Mr. Falkenstern, as we don't know much about the whole company.

Both went very well. Handyman Connection has a roster of competent tradesmen to draw on for any household repair. The tradesman gives an estimate, you accept or reject it, and if you accept, he does the work and you pay him with a check made out to Handyman Connection, and they split it between themselves. In each case, the guy arrived on time. In the first case, the estimate seemed a little high, but he did excellent work that was well worth it; the wall is like new. However, the work involved sanding smooth the plaster repair, which resulted in quite a bit of plaster dust getting on everything. When my wife called and complained, the firm sent us a rebate check of $50.00 in apology - on a $214.00 job. I did not hesitate to call them again a month later when I needed an electrician to replace an exhaust fan. Like the first guy, he was very polite, and turned out to be very competent at what he does. In his case, the dimmer switch controlling the lights and fan in the bath was accidentally damaged during the work, and he replaced it immediately with a much better one at no charge. This outfit seems perfect for the case of a needed repair that is too small to be of much interest to most contractors unless their business is slow. It fills a real gap, and I highly recommend it.

Everything went well. Steve called me about the particulars of the job and then Carmen, the specialist, came by. who happened to live in the same town as myself. Carmen was extremely knowledgeable about residential construction and home repairs and spent a few hours methodically doing the repairs on my older home.

After getting the company's name on Angie's List, we left a message. Steve White responded promptly and immediately we received a call fromGary Faulkenstern, whom Steve selected as the best person to meet our particular needs. Gary was professional and a nice person. We were pleased with his work and will use both the company and Gary again when (if) the snow ever melts!

It was a very positive experience. Someone returned my inital call on the same day and arranged to have the handyman contact me the next day. He called as planned, set up an appointment for the next day, called that day to reconfirm, arrived on time, did the job efficiently and well. As a side benefit I got to hear him play some lovely Beethoven on my piano1

They got into the areas of the house that I could not do myself.

Handyman connections Steven White was prompt and professional when I called him regarding our project. He sent Thomas to take a look at what needed to be done and the next day, he e-mailed me a proposal for the project. We were happy with the estimate and more so with Thomas as he seemed to know his stuff well . Also we were promised that they would see our project through before they started another.These were good enough reasons for us as we have had some bad experiences in the past with other contractors. So we signed them up and we did not regret the our choice. Thomas was experienced and knew what he was doing and overall we were happy with the job.

My call was immediately returned within the 24 hour period. The handyman assigned contacted me immediately thereafter. Work began the following day. It was spread out over several days but he provided constant updates on status and always came when he said he would. The work was excellent and I would not hesitate to use again.

They did a very good job and I was very satisfied. They came when they said they would. I asked for a price in advance and they were able to do that and stick to it.

Our primary concern was getting someone who could put up the drywall right away to keep this project on schedule. The person who was supposed do the drywall injured his arm, so we only had about a day's notice to find a replacement. I got a response from Handyman Connection immediately, and within two hours I got a call from Fernando Dominguez, the drywall installer HC recommended. He did very good work.under tough working conditions -- it was extremely hot and he had to cut the boards outside and carry them to a small, second floor room. As far as the price is concerned, maybe someone else would have done it for less, but I feel it was fair, given the scope of the work

I left a message for Handyman Connection on July 31st. Steve called me back by the end of the day. He told me he would contact some handymen in my area and that I should be hearing back from someone soon. He mentioned that since it was Friday afternoon, I might not hear from anyone over the weekend. I understood. Unfortunately though, I did not hear back from anyone until a week later. On Friday, Aug 7th, the handyman called and arranged to come the next day. We scheduled an appt for sometime between 3:00 to 4:00. The handyman called to let me know he was running a little late and arrived a little before 4:30. I showed him the problem and he quoted me $175 for the job. Since I had a coupon from Angie's List for $25 off, it came out to be $150 + tax. He ended up spending about 1.5 hrs repairing the soffit. (When he removed the nest, 2 birds flew out from there!) He also secured a small section on the other end of the soffit that was beginning to droop. Overall, I am happy I went with Handyman Connection. They were professional and courteous and they did an excellent job.
