 + 2 moreHandyman Connection was great. Stephen White, owner of Handyman Connection of Bergen County, was outstanding. Initially, he explained what I could do on my own if I wanted to save money. Unfortunately I was incapable of doing it on my own. I called Stephen back and he lined up Gary Flankenstern, one of his craftsman, to come out and do repair. Gary came out on schedule and did the repair work quickly and effectively. All for only $107. Very pleased.
Description of Work: Needed to put a new shut-off valve for sprinklers in the house requiring us to cut hole in ceiling. Needed to put a "trap" door in ceiling so we would have easy access to valve. Additionally, needed to repair hole in another part of ceiling (i.e. repair sheetrock and paint).

He called me to let me know my options and the price. I OK'd one of the choices, he came back and installed the door and a new handle/lock hardware. Apparently he made some remarks to my wife about this and that I had taken away work from him. She was a bit put off by this. Otherwise, he did good work and we would hire Bill and Handyman Connection again. Thanks.

Workman came at time previously decided, spent approximately two to three hours to clean area and apply caulking. When job was done, he asked me to check it for completeness as agreed and cleaned all debris caused by the work. Job was professional and done with great efficiency.
Description of Work: Caulked around bathtub and surrounding tile.

 + 1 moreWorkman (Bill Little) measured area, gave me an estimate for the labor, and advised me where to go to choose the tile. I chose the tile from a local store. Workman picked it up for me, delivered it to my house, as well as tile cement, plywood and other tools, the day before laying the tile. Workman started early next day and finished all work in one day. He did a fantastic job making my floor stable and looking good, and of cleaning up after himself. He gave tips on how to care for the floor, and how to move the stove and refrigerator in the future.
Description of Work: Prepared old floor, laid down thin layer of plywood, installed tile floor.

 + -1 more2 guys showed up and I could smell the alcohol on one of their breaths. They were rude and not professional at all. They also installed the window guard the incorrect way. It took almost 4 weeks for them to come back. They were again just unprofessional as they were the first time they came.

 + 0 moreThe company was very responsive and assigned a technician the same day we called. The technician, Bill Little called us in a couple of days and we arranged a mutually suitable time for him to come and provide the estimate. He was very accommodating to my husband's and my busy schedule and came in the evening to look at the work that needed to be done, for which we were very appreciative. The price was perhaps somewhat on a higher side, however, that seems to be a general trend, so we accepted the offer. Bill re-caulked around the edges of the shower/bathtubs in three bathrooms, installed a cap over a ceiling light and adjusted /sanded several doors so that they would close better. His job was excellent, he was very attentive, and cleaned up well after the work was done. We were very satisfied with the work done and would be happy to have Bill do some more work on the house.

 + 1 moreI called and spoke to a very nice lady who told me about the company. She took my information and I received a call from Ernie, the local handyman who would be performing the work. He stopped by and gave me a quote for the work. He was able to start the next day which was great as I just wanted this to be finished. He showed up on time and worked over the next 3 days to finish the room and the port posts. The room looked great and was ready for me to paint. He did a good job of containing the dust and mess and cleaned up when he was finished.
Description of Work: I needed some help fixing a drywall job I'd started, mangled, and didn't have time to repair. I needed much sanding and joint work. I also decided to bundle in the job of replacing my two front porch posts that had nearly rotted away.

After inquiring what type of work was needed, Stephen White told us to expect a call from Gary, who would give us an estimate. Gary called within hours and we set up an appointment for an estimate. The work was undertaken within another day or so. All in all, from initial contact to completion was no more than 5 days. That's service! We appreciated Gary's work ethic. He worked steadily and he kept the area tidy. I Wouldn't hesitate to call him back again for future projects.
Description of Work: Install a handrail, install new closers on a storm door, adjust closers on a second storm door, replace a window sill and molding on one window and repair a sill on another window, fix broken shelf in closet, install new hinges on interior basement door, weatherstrip to seal cold air leakage in kitchen.

 + 1 moreThe company was very nice to deal with. They sent a gentlemen who seemed to really know his work. But it was down hill from there instead of removing the old vinyl wallpaper he papered over it of course it was to heavy and it fell down over night. he bought some special glue to use , which would hold vinyl over vinyl. Then we saw the old pattern showed through. The company was A one they refunded me the money for the upstairs bathroom. That is why I do not hesitate to recommend them .  + 0 moreReid came to my home to give me a quote. The quote was reasonable and he started working right away. He came back 2 times to complete the hole in the wall. Reid removed my wall air conditioner and installed a new one. He even taped up all the open areas when installing the new air conditioner for me. He also returned with a hand cart and removed the old unit. Reid was courteous and professional. I will definitely use Handyman Connection again and will particularly request Reid.
Description of Work: A large hole in my kitchen wall needed to be repaired (16" x 16"). I also needed a window air conditioner removed and a new one installed.

Description of Work: Bill Little was the Handyman assigned to my project. I had multiple small projects that involved everything from hanging pictures, heavy mirror, to fixing doorknobs and doors that would not close properly, and touch-up painting. Excellent service, excellent job, will definitely be calling on them again. Highly recommend. Price was quoted ahead of projects (ballpark) and was reasonable considering the duration of time he spent here. Also, Bill was extremely professional and courteous and cleaned up very nicely when he completed each project.

 + 0 moreJoe Katzler came to replace 3 closet doors (on tracks) and 4 casement window cranks, and install a dimmer switch. Joe is excellent. He called when he said he would, came when he said he would, and did an excellent job. He is a kind, caring person and it shows in his work. The window cranks on our windows were very hard to find and Joe used all his efforts to get them. I really felt like he cared, and that is rare in most workers these days. I will definitely use Joe Katzler and Handyman Connection again, and recommend them to friends and neighbors.
Description of Work: Replaced 3 closet doors (on tracks), Replaced 4 casement window cranks, Tightend and repaired some kitchen cabinet hinges, Installed dimmer switch.

 + -1 moreCalled for a quote, however, they ended up charge per hr, so no free estimate provided. I explained the issues over the phone, and they sent someone and I had pay for them to make even the first trip. My overall experience is pretty good, initially I did not like the fact they don't provide free estimate, but I can understand the nature of small fixes they normally do... that does not lend itself well with trips to clients possibly without pay... I dealt with two handymen from the company, and both were pretty good and I would recommend this company.

While in our home he was very respectful of our surroundings, was very neat despite the work and small space, and thoroughly cleaned up after each day of work. We were comfortable enough to leave our keys with Bill for his access when we were not home. Bill came in under his $1,200 estimate INCLUDING some additioanl materials he needed to purchase. His quote of two days' work was accurate, including the approximately seven hours he worked on a Saturday. We were very satisfied with every aspect of Bill's work and comportment, and we have no hesitation in highly recommending Bill and the Handyman Connection. In fact, we are looking for another quote from the Handyman Connection for other required work.
Description of Work: Through the Handyman Connection I was put in contact with Bill Little. Approximately six years ago we had new kitchen cabinets installed, and they were suspended from the ceiling. As time wore on two issues presented themselves: 1 - The cabinets had been poorly hung and began to shift and sink from the ceiling. The cabinets themselves became slightly out of square. 2 - Owing to the aforementioned shifting as well as some apparent poor glue and construction (Kraftmade cabinetry purchased through Home Depot) the facing of the cabinets began to separate from the cabinet boxes. Bill came assessed the situation and quoted me $1,200 plus materials, saying it would take up to two days to do the repairs. He was not sure exactly what he would find when he began his repairs and the situation could have called for all new cabinets. Bill did the following: 1 - Removed one of the three cabinets, took it apart and re-glued and secured it. 2 - Brought all three cabinets into square 3 - Re-glued and nailed all cabinet facings 4 - Added more support to the rafters from which the cabinets hung 5 - Rehung, properly secured and leveled the cabinets 6 - Rehung ceiling molding and more properly secured 7 - Rehing all the doors and leveled them properly No new cabinetry was required.

 + -1 moreThe workman arrived on time and promptly provided a written estimate after looking at he work to be done and providing recommendations on the best way to proceed. I agreed to the estimate and he started working immediately, assessing what repairs I already had supplies for and which repairs he would go to the store and purchase supplies for . He started on those that I had supplies for first . During lunchtime he went to Home Depot and and purchased the materials needed for insulating the pipe at cost with no mark-up. The work was done within a reasonable amount of time and without alot of unecessary chatter or mess, as I have experienced withother handymen. In fact, I was working from home that day and actually completed a number of conference calls while he was there. I am very happy with the work as well as follow up to insure my satisfaction. I would definitely use them again for repairs large or small.
