As always, absolutely excellent. We've used this contractor several times in the past and have always been very pleased. First, the work is excellent. Second, they conscientiously clean up EVERY DAY! Third, the personnel are very easy to deal with - we were involved with every decision.

This company went out of its way to fit my bathroom remodel into their schedule. Everyone, including the general manager, secretary, and the construction workers were polite and respectful. Communication was excellent and everybody was on top of what needed to be done. Everyone worked with me to make my vision become reality and I have to say that they were very good at problem-solving and excellent with details. The bathroom is beautiful and exceeds my expectations.

The whole job went very smoothly. David scheduled an appointment for an estimate soon after my call, and started the job in a reasonable amount of time. The guys arrived on time and were very polite and conscientious. They worked hard and finished the work in 3 days. The repairs were flawless (amazing!) and the painting was well done. I will be hiring them again in the future.
Description of Work: Spackle repairs in several rooms, including a vaulted ceiling. Filled several large holes. Removed paper seam tape and replaced it with fiberglass tape. Applied several layers of spackle, primed & painted.

The estimate process was quick and efficient. David was very professional and knowledgeable. We decided to give the work to someone we knew that needed the work. This is the third time we've used this organization. First was several years ago when we had minor ($800) hurricane damage. We were impressed with their professionalism and contacted them again six months ago. At that time, they did approximately $4000 of work downstairs, primarily in the kitchen and the powder room. It was especially noteworthy that we were ALWAYS kept informed of any issues. This time, of course, they're doing the upstairs bedrooms and bathrooms and they're continuing with their very exceptional professionalism. They plan ahead well enough that each day they have time remaining to clean up and make the house as presentable as is possible under the circumstances. It's weird - I never see them rush but, at the end of each day, I'm surprised at how much was accomplished. Hopefully we're at the end of our home improvement activities for a while but, if I need anything again, I'll call them without even discussing the work with anyone else.
Description of Work: Two bedrooms and two bathrooms... Strip wallpaper from all walls except one and remove paneling from one wall. Wallpaper was particularly bad on three walls because the paper was painted over twice. Prepare walls (all walls required skim coat) and paint. Add baseboards. Install two sinks and two toilets. Install two exhaust fans. Caulk tub and shower as required. Install misc. bathroom hardware, including towel racks, safety grab bar, shower curtain rod. Remove two unused power cables from behind walls (to eliminate existing blank plates). Price includes top of the line paint from (our choice) Sherwin Williams or Home Depot. Price also includes the exhaust fans, miscellaneous caulking and miscellaneous hardware. We purchased the sinks, toilets, towel racks, door hardware and electrical plates. (They were willing to pick up the items for us but Home Depot and Lowes delivered without charge.)

First bathroom was completely gutted and renovated (new shower stall and doors, new window, retiled walls and floor and replaced toilet and supply line). Second bathroom had floor tile replaced, new section of drywall installed and painted and a new toilet installed. We were very pleased with the outcome. David is the sales person who did the initial evaluation and bid and he is very knowledgeable and personable (and he also can pitch in and help quite capably if needed). Greg and Luke are the main contractors performing the work and they did a great job. With a home renovation unforeseen problems arise or changes are made and Greg and Luke were always patient, accommodating and respectful. The true measure of satisfaction is whether you would use the contractors again and I will unquestionably call Mill Pond should I have need for another home improvement project.

The work took 2 weeks as promised and was overall a pleasant experience. . . I would use them again for work in the home.
Description of Work: We needed our downstairs powder room updated and our upstairs main bathroom completely gutted and rebuilt. They suggested some items for the bathrooms. We took some of their suggestions, but for most of the items we made our own selections. They took our selections, included them into the estimate and made the whole process very easy. They purchased, picked up and installed all our choices. The only exception was some of the towel bars for the upstairs bathroom were not available locally, so we purchased them online and had them sent to the house and they installed them. They arrived when they said they would and left when they said they would. They put down drop clothes each day and cleaned up each day. During the work, problems were found outside the estimate and their repair costs were reasonable. During the install, we communicated each day via email with what we would like to see done just a little different and the workmen had that communication when they arrived the next day and the issue was always addressed.

Ok, it goes like this: We just had "some guy my mother knew" from her Trenton School district job do a bunch of work we wanted done at our house. We went with him because was supposedly very cheaply priced and we were on a budget. We wanted him to take up our old hardwood flooring in the living room & hallway and put down a new one. Also, completely re-do all of the baseboards, moldings and door/window trim. A few other small things too like re-doing a light switch in the hallway and patching some cracks & holes in the wall. He was all smiles and promises at the beginning. But as the process started, I quickly saw that he was not very professional. He worked at a slow pace and was very messy. As we went along with everything, I had a growing feeling of regret about choosing him, and wished I would have followed my wife's advice about joining Angie's List and selecting a pro (like David & Mill Pond Home Improvement's here). The work this guy did ended up having all kinds of flaws and leaving us quite unhappy. Not to mention, leaving us with a huge mess to clean-up (the old floor piled out front, sanding & re-painting, etc). The biggest problems however were the floor itself. Because he didn't do a clean, careful job, there are many glaring flaws on it. I'll attach some photos here to show. He also had many mistakes with the moldings and trim work. Gaps and miscuts, left all the nail holes visible, bad overlaps, etc. Very very poor and unacceptable. Feeling completely discouraged and helpless, not knowing how to proceed next after just spending all that time (3 weeks!) and money---and having new furniture waiting to be delivered----we desperately wanted some truly professional advice. So I joined Angie's List here and found Mill Pond Home Improvements. I called a few other places but David was the first to respond and set up a time & date to come look at this mess. He showed up a few minutes early and was a total professional from hello. This is the kind of person you want doing work on your house. I could see that from first glance. The rest of his visit only reaffirmed my first impression. He patiently listened to everything I had to say and show him around the house, and gave thorough in-depth explanations of the things that should have been done differently and more professionally. He gave me his honest professional opinion about my entire situation, along with several possible options on how I could go about addressing them. Not all of which, involved his company doing any work, so it wasn't like he was just wanting to get any work he could out of me, which I appreciated and respected. This is the kind of person you want working for you. It was like night & day after the nightmare we just went through with the "other guy". (he's not on Angie's List of else I would give him a F-!!!) We are not yet sure if we will have David do any work here to fix some of these things or if we'll take his other suggestions about doing them ourselves, but I will definitely keep him high in my mind for our next project(s) down the line, of which we have many. Lesson learned: Don't EVER deal with "just some guy". Spend the time researching and selecting a true PROFESSIONAL like David before you let anyone do any work on your house. You're already doing that if you're here on Angie's List. Good luck.
Description of Work: I called David because I desperately needed a professional 2nd opinion and appraisal about work I recently had done inside my house by another service provider.

This is an update to our previous review. They arrived between the times given, installed the piece that was needed, took the front inside door down and shaved some off the bottom so that it would not drag on the hard wood floor and so that it would evenly meet with what was installed. We would consider recommending them to others.

When you watch a beautiful sunrise/sunset, sometimes there are just not words to explain it; just stand back and say "Ahhhh." The experience with Mill Pond was like that! David came when he said he would and produced the overview and the estimate. He was the quintessential professional. He communicated often and completely. (Not like other contractors who do not call back or require being "chased" to get the information.) The estimate was under what others quoted, and inclusive for everything that we wanted done. If there was a change needed, or if the installers were going to be late or if one had to do a short off-site job that required arriving late or leaving early, we received a phone call from David the day before to let us know. (It only happened a few times in the month that the project took, and never seemed to interrupt the flow of the work or the amount of tasks that were accomplished.) Because many of the items that we wanted (new octagon window, window molding, tub, toilets, sink/tub/shower faucets, mosaic tile inserts, tile, and paint colors) were special order, we decided to obtain the materials in advance so everything was here when the project started. Mill Pond provided the installation materials, lumber, backerboard, sheetrock, grout, and paint bushes, etcetera, and the installation labor. It was a great working relationship. We added a shower base in the middle of the project, but it was in stock locally, so we picked it up and the work continued without interruption. Yes, it did take a few trips to Home Depot / Lowe's for some stuff that was missing or suddenly was needed, but sometimes they picked it up on the way to the job, or we picked it up during the day. (Not a problem for us as Home Depot and Lowe's are less than 10 minutes away.) Greg and Luke (the installers) were simply terrific. The first day we knew we had picked the right team! Before they did the initial walk through prior to starting the work, they removed their shoes at the door to avoid tracking anything in the house before the laid down the covers for the walkways and stairs which they removed and put back in place each day. Luke even fixed a loose socket before installing the drywall so there would not be problems down the road. Greg inspected each tile before placing it on the walls to be sure there were no bad edges or marks on the finish that would show upon completion of the job. We even convinced them to help us for a few minutes to lift our bed so we could straighten the oriental rug in the master bedroom. Greg and Luke were always willing to help and alter their path if we wanted to include/change something minor along the way. They were a great team and worked well together (They are brothers-in-law, so that helped!) They were constantly asking for our input regarding placement of bars, exactly how we wanted the tile laid out, whether we wanted the doors painted with a roller or with brush strokes showing, etcetera so they could do it right the first time. Part of the process included replacing the 50 year old valves for all of the sinks, tub, shower, and toilets. As it turned out, there were no shut off valves for the showers in either bathroom. In fact, there was not even an access panel for the master bath. Greg/Luke suggested putting in the valves since they had the walls open anyway, and found a great and inexpensive panel to use to cover the access area without the expense of framing the hole. It is perfect, and now we have the "emergency" access we hope we never have to use. Did we like the results? YES! Would we have them back again? ABSOLUTELY! When David returns to collect the final payment (he waits until the job is complete and we are satisfied before asking for the money!), he is bringing along an estimate to refurbish our back porch. We are looking at some other projects down the road, and would not consider calling anyone else. Our son owns a few rental properties, and is looking to have the bathroom in his own home done in the next few months - he is expecting to use Mill Pond for the work.
Description of Work: Mill Pond refurbished three bathrooms in our home. The master bath, hall/guest bath, and the downstairs powder room. The master and hall bath were complete redos; tile for bath and shower enclosures, floors, tub, shower base, new vanities, new toilets, and painting. The powder room was stripped to the walls and wallpaper/sheet rock removed. A new octagon window was added, new toilet and sink fixtures, and painting.

Determined that it would cost much more than it was worth and advised that we live with the squeak. I appreciated the honesty. That said, my husband decided to tackle the issue himself with a much less labor-intensive solution than what Mill Pond thought would be needed. Mill Pond said that we would need to either open up the floor, or the ceiling on the floor beneath and find the squeak. My husband was able to attenuate the problem squeak by removing the baseboard molding and drilling screws into the floor at an angle. Of course, we have yet to see if this is a lasting solution.

We had some damage from Sandy. Due to my own personal issues, we had to delay any consideration of the repair. In any event, a Mill Pond rep showed up exactly as promised. He brought a sample of the siding that would be used to replace what was missing and the color match was excellent. During the entire conversation, he emphasized "making it look good" and not once did he suggest repair work simply to pad the bill. The job was done three days later and it really looks good.
