They arrived on time as scheduled. Estimated it would take 3 days and they worked late the 3rd day to make it happen. Very neat. Dust from sanding kept to a minimum. Painted a radiator cover that was not in the contract.
Description of Work: Spackle , repair, and paint the living room, a bedroom and bathroom walls. Prepare and paint the grid for the dropped ceilings in the living room and bedroom. Install supplied ceiling tiles. Cut and fit odd shaped tiles. Moved furniture as needed.

Oasis started and completed work on the schedule that they had given me. The workers did an excellent job on the prep work and there was quite a bit to do--some of the walls are real plaster with cracks and small holes and one ceiling had some water stains. We had a variety of colors being used and the workers did a good job--no mistakes with respect to correct colors in rooms. Painting was done neatly and professionally and cleanup was good. In one room there are a few areas in which spotty white prep work is apparent. This is a bit puzzling, since two coats were applied. But all other rooms are done quite well.
Description of Work: Oasis did mainly interior painting (walls, woodwork, and ceilings) in six rooms. Oasis also did exterior painting on one stone/stucco wall that I wanted covered with a waterproof paint.

Initially, I was happy with Oasis; their price for two coats of paint for all of the areas specified in the contract was the best of three quotes, but I should have realized that you get what you pay for. I was surprised that Juan didn't take any measurements and, in fact, spent far less time assessing the areas to be painted than did the two other contractors that I got quotes from. At the same time, I figured a painting professional might be able to adequately assess the amount of paint required without pulling out a tape measure. Oasis also agreed to get my job done in the next week before we had a group of out-of-town guests coming to stay, so I was happy about that. There was some issue with their van the morning of the day they were to start the painting, so the painters came later than expected; things happen, so that didn't bother me at all. There were two guys but about 2 pm in the afternoon, two more showed up and they all stayed until about 7 pm when the guy who was presumably in charge (Juan wasn't there) called us to come downstairs (we had stayed upstairs the entire time they were painting so as not to get in their way). He told us they had finished the job which surprised us since we were under the impression it would take two days to get the job done. We did a quick walk-around and immediately saw about a dozen spots that had been missed, i.e., the old paint hadn't even been covered with one coat of paint, much less two. We should have been immediately suspicious about the whole job at that point, but as trusting people, we assumed that a professional painting company (with generally very good reviews on Angie's List) would complete the job competently and properly, even if there were a few minor touch-ups needed. Meanwhile, they quickly touched up the areas. One of the guys saw me looking at the baseboard molding in the hallway (it looked like the old, off-white paint was showing thought the new, dark tan paint), but he said that it looked that way because the paint was still wet. Unfortunately, it looked the same the next day and the paint was definitely dry. The good: the exterior work on the front door and trim was neatly and thoroughly done. The transitions from one color to the next (the family room and bedroom each had one accent wall) were done neatly. Then, as the painters were clearly eager to leave, we sent them on their way. We noticed that there was very little of most of the paint left. The next day, we did a more careful look around and saw that there were many areas, especially on the trim, where the old paint was showing through or missed entirely, like the areas we had seen the day before. There were also many areas along the baseboard where the paint didn't reach the bottom of the boards, leaving thin white strips of the old paint showing along the floors. There were also tiny splatters of paint on the (brand-new) floors that we spent a couple of hours scraping off. Some of the outlets had paint on them as well. In additons, the outlet covers that they had removed for painting were replaced, but were missing some screws, which we never found. I wrote an email to Oasis and they immediately offered to come to do touch-ups. We were very busy for the next 4-5 weeks before we could have Oasis come back to do the touch-ups. It was a big hassle, too, because we had to move all the furniture either away from the walls or out of the rooms. When Oasis had originally come, there was very little furniture in the rooms because we had had to remove it all for new floors to be put down. The day before Oasis came back, we did a thorough inspection of the areas they had painted. We could now see that the old paint was showing through on areas of the accent walls (one originally a light pink, the other a light blue), which were now a deep teal color - there was clearly only one coat of paint on those walls in addition to the trim. We put about 30 post-it notes on the worst areas of the trim (baseboards and doors) and walls where the old paint was clearly showing through, but when the two painters (not the ones who were originally there) came, we told them that these are just representative areas, that clearly only one coat of paint was put everywhere, and that they needed to check everywhere themselves. We were very surprised that the boss, Juan, did not show up to look at the previous work done and to make sure the painters knew what to do to correct what had not been done properly. The painter who seemed to be in charge and who we were showing the problems to agreed that there was clearly only one coat of paint down. The two painters immediately went to buy some more paint (so enough had been bought previously to do just one coat, instead of the two coats specified in the contract) and spent about four hours "touching up". We came down to inspect when they said they were done and I asked them what they had painted and they said "everything". We walked around and immediately found some areas that had been missed, which the painters touched up again (?). The accent walls did look much better and the areas we had specifically labeled with the post-it notes looked better. After the painters left, I decided to look over the areas very closely so we could close this project already. I was very disappointed to find a number of areas that STILL had the old paint showing through. I took a picture of one of the areas and sent it to Oasis along with my overall assessment that things looked better, but that there were still a number of areas that still had the old paint showing through. They responded a couple of days later, said that they would send Juan and a DIFFERENT painter to make sure everything got done properly and that "this is not something that normally happens". I might have believed that after the first day of work, but after sending painters to "fix things" and there were still issues, I can't believe this is the first time that this happened. We didn't want to deal with moving the furniture again or have Oasis painters in the house to maybe or maybe not finish the project, so we have not had them back. I did much of the touch-up myself, but didn't get to the areas behind the furniture. We hired painters because we don't have the time or inclination to do the work ourselves. The source of the problem was that the painters only put down one coat of paint in the first place and they didn't even do that very carefully. The reason that Oasis can offer a lower price is that they save time and money by doing an incomplete job and hope the customer doesn't notice - which according to the reviews, customers don't notice for the most part. When we had the entire interior of the house painted about ten years ago, we paid a lot of money, but the paint job was superior to what we could have done ourselves and we had no complaints or issues whatsoever with the job. What Oasis has going for it is that they have a top-notch office staff, notably Elin, who truly seemed to care about making things right and was always very professional, but she couldn't make up for the fact that the standards of the painters, who are the responsibility of the company, are not, for the most part, very professional.
Description of Work: Painted the family room, front hall and a bedroom (walls and trim in all areas). Also painted the exterior of the front door & trim.

Oasis was recommended to us by a family member that had previously used them. They are an exceptional company. The crew was very pleasant and caring and they made sure that all of our belongings were covered prior to the painting. Our Living and Dining rooms look new and we could not be any happier! We would definitely use them again and recommend them without a doubt!

From the moment I made the first phone call to setup my estimate I knew I was in good hands. Juan was very professional with his estimate. He answered all my questions and concerns. This was my first time painting my home and Juan reassured me with a warranty. I felt good about the situation and went ahead with his estimate. The price was great compared to the other estimates I received. Juan was very patient with my wife and I we had an idea for colors but could not come to a compromise. The young ladies at the office set up a color consultation with Juan which was very helpful. We told him our ideas and he gave us his suggestions. We picked our samples and waited anxiously for the process to begin. The crew that painted my house were fast and efficient. They were organized, friendly, made sure everything was to our liking and made sure everything was clean prior to the completion of the job.It was great to see a company that does so much for it's customers. It was so hard to choose colors we liked because we liked all the samples! Eventually everything fell right into place and are so satisfied with the results. Though what I valued the most was the patience Oasis had with us. I cannot stress enough how nerve wrecking it is to have your home painted. My wife and I are so happy to have made the choice to use Oasis and will not be calling any other company.

From the initial phone call to the completion of the work Oasis was exceptional. Juan provided me with a detailed estimate of all the areas that were going to be painting (which was almost everything in my house: 3 Bedrooms, Dining Room, Living Room, Den, Kitchen, 2 Bathrooms, Stairwell, Hallways, Master Bedroom, Powder room). Oasis painted my walls, ceiling and trim. I have a lot of antique furniture, which they took great care of. Everything was cover and protected, and I was very happy because I didn't have to clean a whole lot after the were done. Andres and the gentleman that worked at the house were friendly, courteous and detailed of specific things that I wanted. I am a very picky person, and Oasis knew exactly how to deal with me. The girls at the office called to make sure everything was being done to my satisfaction and and if I had any questions they were always enthusiastic about answering them. Oasis surpassed all of my expectations, my house looks like a brand new house and I wouldn't think twice of recommending them to anyone. I will be calling next spring to do my exterior. ( they did my best friend's aluminum house and it look amazing!!)

We hired Oasis to paint and wallpaper our apartment. We?re very pleased with the results and would recommend them to anyone who?s looking for a reasonably priced, quality paint job. Juan Carlos?s estimate for the cost was dead-on and better than others we?d received. The team that showed up was courteous, hardworking, and detail-oriented. They actually finished the job a day earlier than expected, even though they had to do a fair amount of prep work on our walls. We had two small quibbles with the company. First, they needed to move the start date back two days, from a Monday to a Wednesday. We were actually grateful at the time, as another contractor was behind and we were considering rescheduling anyway. But if someone else trying to get a job done in a limited time frame had to deal with this, it could certainly be frustrating. Second, the estimates for the amount of paint & wallpaper needed were both high, costing us more than we needed to spend. Still, this company gave us all the important stuff?great results and great customer service. In fact, they sent us a refund after we overpaid our final bill (the math was off on our end) absolutely unprompted. This shows the kind of ethical company Oasis is. We would certainly use them again, and we?ve already reached out to them for an estimate on another job. And we love the wallpapering and painting they did!

This is an example of a little company that was really good when they started out -- now they're not. They set up appointments to paint and constantly postponed due to weather, full moon or the appearance of the first butterfly. The most important work to be done-- although it was the smallest, was that there is a small strip of concrete over my garage which had brown stains, like brown water drips on it. Since I was going to have to have someone come in and do a small thing, I decided to have them repaint the exteriors of some windows and a small wood awning over my backdoor. Oasis told my husband that the stains were caused by excess water dripping out of the planters we had on the patio over the garage. So I stopped watering my plants so much so that the water didn't drip down-- I watered them with a pail. But in a week, the brown lines still had begun appearing!!!! So we found out that that strip needed to be painted with a special paint-- and so one week after the work was finished, and the brown lines formed, we called Oasis and told them that they had to come back and paint it with the correct paint. First they said OK, but never did anything and then they just stopped returning our requests. It's a shame, because we hired them years ago when they were just started out. Now they've grown big and their work is shoddy and they treat people poorly. Don't use them. If you do, you'll just get frustrated, have a great big headache, and wind up doing the work yourself.
Description of Work: Scrape and paint old paint of windows, paint the concrete strip over the garage. They performed EXTERIOR work, not interior work, as this category indicates.

We bought our house two years ago and were told by the neighbors that the previous owners had it painted just before they put it on the market, that seemed ridiculous because there were so many places peeling badly, the house has been painted over and over, Juan told me the old paint needed to be stripped (I saw a house they sanded last year in my neighborhood, which it came out beautiful) they did a great job sanding my house down to the bare wood, Jerry and his crew were amazing, I felt bad for the guys because last week was so hot, but they never stopped! the house looks absolutely beautiful!! We also used Oasis last winter to paint inside of our home, my sister in law had her aluminum siding painted and she is so happy as well, we would highly recommend them to anyone!

Provider's workers got trim paint on the house and tried to wipe it off. The work was sloppy with drips everywhere including on the mahogany porch deck and paint on the windows. They scraped the paint off the windows and left it on the porch where it fell. To fix their mistake of getting paint on the house we paid an extra $1600 to paint two coats on the house. After they came back 2x I paid them. They put stain on my porch ceiling that looks great but dripped a huge splat on the mahogany porch deck they just left. Looking at my house today, you can still see where they missed. To top it off they spilled paint in the street on the side of my house (seemingly on purpose) so a blue splat and tire marks run down the street on the entire side of my house. (That's when they removed their company sign from my lawn). They also patched a part of my foundation but left the cement dripping right on my patio pavers. Nice in person and on the phone but how they perform is what matters. If you can't see it, they didn't do it. The top of my columns aren't painted because you can't see it from the street. They treated my Jarrah wood patio set like it was plywood. They used it as a workbench, got paint on the table and used a machine to get it off. Let's hope I can fix it! On a side note, they turned my garden hose on in the morning and didn't turn it off until I came home at lunchtime. They left it running. You can come and inspect my house if you like. I will show you everything. By the way, I had to work so I wasn't home to babysit. Why did I rate the punctuality as fair? Because they called me the day before the big rain to say I was scheduled (really?) and that they had to put me off until the following week. Do you want this crew at your house? Definitely not! Run from this smile in your face company.

Response from Oasis Painting & Wallcovering
First and foremost we would like to let you know that Oasis Painting has been in business for over 12 years and have been the go to company in this area (Rutherford, Lyndhurst, North Arlington, Kearny) for some time now. Our mission is to have a great relationship with our customers and satisfy their painting needs. Oasis provided this customer with the requested estimate: Prep and Paint Trim and various other things like their Front Door, doors foundation, gutters, brick, windows and garage trim. We agree that we made some mistakes that cause some drops (minor) of trim paint to fall on the siding. If the customer would have not decided to paint the siding, then we would go around and rectified our mistake by touching up the small portions of the siding that were accidently painted. The work was completed to the totality of the estimate. As part of the original estimate, we replaced some cement board shingles and painted them. In doing so, the fresh paint on the replaced shingles and trim, the rest of the siding looked faded against the new paint. As a professional painter, we contacted the homeowner and let him know that the house would look better if we did one or two coats of paint on the siding. We told the homeowner that we would give him a price for labor and material (without making any type of profit) to help them out. So we gave them a price for one coat and two coats and they opted to do the two coats for the price of $1,600. This recommendation was just a suggestion, in no way was this being used as a way to “make up” for our mistake. They called us back after a week and said that they would like to move forward with it (this was not an obligation). For visual date purposes, the sign was picked up on a Friday, and we were scheduled to do final touch ups on that Monday. Every time the customer had a concern regarding the painting, we were responsive and were back at their house. Once touch ups were completed, customer contacted us 4 days later to ask us to pick up their 90% payment balance and it was then that they mentioned about blue paint that was “purposely” painted on their street. The last day the painters were there was on a Monday and we get a call on a Friday about a blue paint? Coincidently, the last Monday we were there, our painters noticed that the town was also painting handicap lines on the other side of the street. We attempted to reach the customer to explain that we were not to blame for the blue paint that was left on the street (not their side walk, just regular car street) but he refused to listen to what we had to say. We persuaded him to ask his neighbors if they had seen anything, but the customer would not budge. Please understand, that it we had "accidently" spilled any kind of paint on any street, we would've immediately power wash it and would've immediately contacted the homeowner to let them know. We deeply and truly apologize for any inconveniences that we might have caused. But if you are a homeowner looking for our services please contact us and we will give you reference of past and present customers near your area.

We got a couple of quotes from other companies and Oasis' was a little bit higher, but since we have seen their signs and vans all over town we decided to go with them, no regrets!! We were very impressed with Juan Carlos he's very knowledgeable in his profession. It was a good experience since the first time that we called to set up an appointment, the girls in the office were really friendly and helpful, they email us a detailed written estimate the next day, the Crew arrived here each day, on time and were extremely courteous, hardworking and professional, they were very easy to work with, efficient and quiet (really nice guys), as for the work itself, it was superior, as promised, all the walls were sanded and prepped prior to painting. When necessary, exposed seams and joints were caulked, which has made a big difference in the overall look of our home, And, we were also very impressed with the sheetrock patch work that team provided. They took a lot of time and paid special attention to those critical areas to ensure the surfaces were perfectly prepared before painting. More importantly, special attention was also paid to protect our new floor and furnishing, which include some treasured family antiques. And again, following completion of the project, the furniture was arranged in the rooms as it was originally placed, making it easy for us to resume our normal daily routines. Finally, when painting was completed, they organized and marked all the paint for us so that when we store it we can easily identify it for future use. Our house looks beautiful. My husband and I would highly recommend Oasis Painting

My third job with them and they will be doing the outside of our house. Terrific company.
Description of Work: I had work done on my kitchen and Oasis finished it. They sanded the drywall, smoothed out all woodwork and painted. Their crew is very respectful and neat. When the job was completed they asked me to double check the work , to make sure I was satisfied. This was my third job with them and I am always happy the the finished job.

We have no complaints. They were punctual, courteous, kept the place clean and provided good value. They did what they said they would do and did it well. Because there was a crew of 2 to 3 people each day, it took only 3 or 4 days. Another very good painter we wanted to use was higher priced and worked alone. He said it would take up to 16 days. We did not have that kind of time.
Description of Work: We hired Oasis to paint all the rooms in a townhouse we purchased: large basement, cathedral ceiling great room, 3 bedrooms. 4 baths., kitchen. They did a fine job, especially for the price. Other bids we got were much higher.
