FAR from Average Construction

Our stamped concrete patio and walkway, about 600 square feet total, came out beautiful, just as we wanted. We needed to get this job done quickly. After wasting time contacting contractors and getting no callbacks and missed estimate visits we hooked up with Fernando thru Angi. Pleasure to work with, seemed very fair and accommodating, and had a signed contract and deposit within 5 days, work started 10 days later and completed in 3 days. Very satisfied.

Went better than expected. Very professional and the workers were extremely courteous and kind. Very good attention to detail. I am extremely satisfied.

Unfortunately, we have to amend our review from 4/17/21 (Bob S). Not long after the job was finished, we noticed a small piece of concrete that had cracked. We called Fernando and he said that he would come back and fix it. He never showed up. We called again, same thing. We called again, same thing. Now the patio looks terrible because the sealer that he said would last at least 3-4 years, didn't even last two. Once again, Fernando apologized and said he would be here as recently as last Thursday, but he was a no show. We are in the process of hiring a new contractor to see if the patio can be salvaged. The company's name is "Far above average.?" It should be called "Far below average."

The project was reasonably priced, on schedule, as promised, no hidden cost whatsoever, and overall excellent communication with me at all times. Would absolutely have this company back for any. other project that I may need. THANK YOU FERNANDO!!

Fernando and his team did a beautiful job on my stamped concrete patio. It was completed in one weekend and they were very professional throughout the entire project. Communication was great from start to end and they cleaned up nicely when they finished. I would definitely recommend a stamped concrete patio from Far From average Construction. They offer great customer service, much knowledge of the work, and good value. It was worth every penny !!

It took over a year to finish the project. Once he was paid, it took at least 25 calls and requests to get him to finish the project. Then a year later the retaining wall started falling apart. Fernando said he'd fix it. It's been three months. He's given me several dates over the last three months and never showed. Now he won't answer my calls or texts.

He didn't do what I asked him to d, he didn't seal it and there's still water coming in my garage.

Great job. After having them do my patio in the back, I decided to call them back and hire them to do my driveway. As expected, the final result was awesome. Great company; I definitely recommend them.

The whole process was extremely easy. Fernando and the guys were extremely responsive and professional. They also were able to complete the job quickly so we could enjoy our new stamped concrete patio for the summer. The patio was smaller than we originally asked for but Fernando refunded us the difference without any questions. We will definitely use him again and recommend highly.

Professional and well organized crew. Removals, pouring new concrete and stamping was done in perfect timing. In overall, finish result exceeds the expectations. I would definitely recommend FAR from Average Construction to anybody.

I was hoping to leave a higher review, but unfortunately I cannot. Job was bad from the start. Instead of rescheduling the job due to rain, Fernando and his team went forward. It rained and a portion of the job was ruined. To his credit, he offered to either redo or a credit for the work. Disposal was delayed due to the dumpster company canceling the job. Not Fernando's fault, but he didn't call to confirm with the company. Since the job was mainly completed and only a small nonessential portion needed remained, I paid the balance, trusting him to come back and complete it. Of course, he has cancelled 3 times. Each time I had to call him. At this point, he has not responded to my calls or texts. Courtesy and assurances of "standing by my work" etc disappeared after the last check was cashed. NEVER pay in full until ALL of the job is complete. If the contractor has an issue with that, move on. The work was mostly done, and the part I care about most (luckily) looks good, but time will tell. I had a couple other projects I was considering this company for, but I will have to search elsewhere. Use at your own risk.

The patio came out great. My wife and I are very pleased with the results. The design, texture and coloring look fantastic. Fernando and his team showed up on time and knocked out an 800 Sq ft stamped concrete patio in 7 hours. Very professional! I highly reccommend Far From Average for your concrete work.

Excellent service. Crew was so professional and our patio looks amazing!! Fernando and his crew did a fantastic job, they were very punctual and we would highly recommend them. No need to look any where else, we are extremely happy!!!

Everything went fine until I made the final payment (before the last bit of work was completed). Since then, I've waited an entire year for Fernando to come back and finish the job. It is still incomplete! And one issue is a safety hazard. My property has had a safety hazard for an entire year because I've been pushed back over and over and over again.

We hired Fernando to remediate a failing retaining wall in our backyard. He initially told us he could straighten the existing wall, but it started to crack and couldn’t be done. So we had him rebuild a new wall. One month later, my neighbors alerted me that the new wall was bowing out. We called in other experts to give opinions. It turns out, Fernando had neglected to backfill the wall with stone, nor install the perforated pipe or landscape fabric. Fernando says his motto is he won’t take a job if he can’t handle it. But our job proved to be clearly outside his scope of expertise. We paid $18,000 in total and had to have the whole job redone by another contractor. We had a terrible time getting any money back from Fernando. He offered me only $8500 back. After getting a lawyer involved, and a lot of stress and upset, Fernando refunded me $12,000. But he still kept $6,000 because he said the part of the wall he rebuilt was good. Guess what? The new contractor had to take it all apart to rebuild it right because it was not good. So I lost all that money in the end. I also lost money on new plantings, sprinker system repair, wood and concrete I had paid for, because all those things had to be ripped out again to rebuild the wall correctly the THIRD time around. I feel bad posting this review, but I don’t want to see anyone else go through what we did. It was a nightmare.

Fernando was excellent to work with and we would hire him in a heartbeat again. We had talked to a number of other contractors and he was by far the most easy to deal with and competitive. He explained us the entire process, went over the pros and cons and visited us multiple times with no pressure tactics. In fact, he reduced some of the scope which he felt did not add any value. His crew was on time and efficient. He even brought his own pool robot vacuum and re-installed the cover. No brainer to work with him.
