What started off as a somewhat simple order of a new runner for our staircase, turned into a fabulous refinishing of our 1929 hardwood floors. We are literally "FLOORED" by Danny's skill, results and friendliness. We thought it would be out of our budget, but Danny's prices are very reasonable. The runner will be stunning when installed and the floors are gorgeous. Highly recommend Danny's company. He is very prompt and knowledgeable as well as keeps his commitments.

Sorry for the late review. Overall my experience with Bergen Carpet was good. Danny is a nice guy who is meticulous with his work and how he runs his crew. He did an excellent job of installing the pre-finished engineered wood flooring and floor tile work. Cleanup was excellent. Danny tried to educate me on not going cheap with the kind of tiles I provided and I should have listened. However, Danny did a great job with what materials i provided. My only concern was that at the end there were some minor items he had to come back to finish off (glue down of a transition, putting back vanity) and we spoke a few times to schedule, but he never came back to finish. It was minor so I am not terribly upset with this. I would use Bergen again. As with all contractors, make sure you are part of the design and decision making process and do not pay in full until the job is complete and you will not be disappointed.
Description of Work: Installed engineered wood floors in lower level of house. Installed porcelain tiles in kitchen and one half bathroom.

The workers installed our raw maple flooring PARALLEL to the floor joists - you NEVER do this when installing hardwood floors. When I discovered this, I contacted the company and they tried to convince me that it was OK to install parallel to the floor joists. I refused and told them to rip up the flooring and install it perpindicular to the floor joists with new wood. Instead, they used the old wood which already had nails embedded in it. We were not happy with this but the company said the old wood would be OK. After sanding, they started staining but the floor did not take the stain color properly because, as it turned out, they didn't know how to work with maple. They sanded off the stain and at that point we terminated our contract with them. DO NOT use this company if you are having raw hardwood floors installed.
Description of Work: Installation, sanding, staining and sealing on hardwood flooring that we had purchased separately. Please note the $1200 was a downpayment, not the full price.
