Once again, Brown’s came through like the total pros they are. After last week’s heavy rains, my crawlspace flooded (because the sump pump failed) and drowned my furnace. Brown’s put me in touch with New Method Restoration to have the water pumped out. Brown’s then installed a new sump pump that same day and a new furnace the next day. Within 28 hours things were back to normal. As a customer of over 30 years, I cannot overstate how very competent, totally professional, absolutely dependable and completely friendly their office staff and technicians are nor how much confidence I have in them. I cannot recommend them highly enough!

I had an annual contract with Browns for preventative maintenance and for priority if an emergency occurred. Multiple times I was cancelled on the day of the appointment often without any notice. Very unprofessional and the worst customer service that I have ever experienced from a service provider. Very sad for a business that prides itself on being a mom & pop shop that cares for their customers. I cancelled the contract because they never fulfilled their obligations to actually make a visit to ensure that my systems were in proper working order.

They never replaced the sump pump. They were recommended by a neighbor who has the same house. They told me my unit was different and would be double the price. My unit is the exactly the same . They charged me $200 to tell me that. I only had them come to be proactive. They are thieves and the plumber had no idea what he was doing.

Beware!!! Do not do business with this company as they are deceiving and will not stand behind their work! Should something go wrong with the service they provide they will deflect your calls, promise to call back and will not do so. It took me over a month and at least half a dozen calls to get them to refund a part they installed that didn't work. Furthermore, they only refunded a portion of the cost and claimed that $240 was for labor. When confronted, they rationalized the $240 by stating their service people had to come to my residence several times (15 minutes to confirm the part didn't work and another 10 minutes to retrieve the part). When speaking with them they tried to blame me for getting another contractor to complete the work. Will never do business with this unethical and dishonest company again!

I needed a certification for a gas fireplace for a CO. Brown's Heating and Cooling was recommended. The cost was so low I had doubts but was pleasantly surprised by the level of expertise and care that their service technician, Dave took. He was personable and polite and showed a good knowledge of the job. Thanks, Dave and thanks to Brown's Heating and Cooling for knowing the importance of good service. I would call them first if I needed an HVAC company!

Installation crew was caring, neat, and punctual. They worked as a team and completed the attic installation within one day. All the old equipment and debris was removed. They were polite and positive and kept us informed. I used them two weeks later to correct a plumbing leak, and experienced punctual caring service.

Hired Brown's to do home repairs around the house (damaged trim, new bathroom mirror, etc) and for some minor custom work in my living room (wainscoting). Punctual, professional and top notch in quality. They are not the cheapest, but they are the best value since I did not have to call them back to clean up shotty work and the work is pristine. That is value to me. I've had the contractor who bids low but is unreliable. No thanks. Quite pleased.

Up until last week, I would have given them 5 stars. As a 5+ year prior customer, we used them several times for extensive residential plumbing and HVAC repairs at several properties we own and we were always satisfied. They were professional, respectful, highly competent and we found their charges reasonable for the services provided. I called them 2 days ago because I arrived home with my husband who was just discharged from the hospital and the AC wouldn't kick on. It was 87 degrees in the upstairs. I called Brown - and while the person was polite and considerate, she explained they had no appointments at all til the end of July! I explained I'm an existing customer, asked for an emergency call and she again apologized, and said she understands but there was nothing she could do. She didn't even ask our name or town. I would have expected at least an offer for an emergency appointment within 48 hours. Fortunately, our local landscaper put us in touch with a great local company who fixed it that night. I find myself shaking my head as the mail just arrived and there's a postcard from Brown thanking me for my recent business and reminding me to be prepared for summer heat - SMH! Maybe they've gotten too big and their departments don't know what each other is doing?! I find it really sad in today's competitive market that a mature company would overextend themselves to the point that they are willing to loose existing and long standing customers; and that they don't realize you need to hold some appointment blocks for emergency business for existing customers. Well, needless to say, they've probably permanently lost the business of me (3 properties) as well as 4 family members with large houses in town as we really, really liked the new company.

After 2 E-mails of asking what the status of the part was I finally got a response, The tech was supposed to last Monday and never showed up. The customer service is not trained well and I will post their E-mails to prove it. Their E-mails say it all: I received your message that you sent through our website in regards to a lack of follow up on a part that was ordered for your A/C system. I am deeply sorry that no one had gotten back to you, but I appreciate your criticism as information like this helps us grow and improve as a business. This is not the type of customer service we want to deliver to our clients. We consider this a priority and I know you have developed a distaste for us and quite frankly I can’t blame you for being frustrated. The part that was needed was picked up this morning as we were waiting for a shipment to arrive to our supplier and they finally received it. You absolutely should have been kept in the loop and this is where we failed. If you are dead set on using another company to service your equipment I fully understand, but if you would like, since we have the part, we can get you on the schedule for later on today and get you’re system back up and running. Please let me know. Either way thank you for letting us know your frustrations so we can learn from it and grow as a team moving forward. Just wanted to confirm I have your appointment in for today after 1PM. The arrival time will be somewhere between 1-5 and I’ll be sending Chris Stumbers our Service manager to ensure you get the best service we can offer. Thank you for this opportunity and I am confident we will do a much better job of meeting your expectations moving forward. If you feel that is not the case you can always ask for me or shoot me an email and I will make sure you are taken care of. No one ever showed up and I wasted an afternoon at home waiting for no one.

The Guys just left ! I can not believe all the work they did in just 2 days! New heating and cooling system and water heater. They seemed to never stop. I thiunk they left my basement cleaner than it was before the job. We were lucky that no heat or air conditioning was needed during this installation. Things were old but not an emergency. I would highly recommend Browns to anyone looking to update or repair their HVAC systems. You will not be disappointed!

In the discussion there was a mention of being quoted and having the work performed the same day, which would be the fee of $99.95 for the visit. We were happy to come out to you for free and if you accepted the estimate we would have scheduled a day to come back and make the repairs. Brown's will always come out for a free visit to provide an estimate, no charge. If a quote is provided and same day service is then requested, there is a fee of $99.95.

Had their plumber come over to check on the wax seal of our toilet bowl. Work performed involved removing toilet, replacing wax ring, resecuring existing flange, and reinstalling toilet. Time spent about 2 hours. Parts required were a new wax ring and a few bolts (very negligible material costs). Charge was $734.59, which I paid. Everyone I mentioned this to afterwards told me the charge was excessive. Contacted General Manager Doug Brown to ask if there was a mistake and never got a reply. Then I contacted The firm's President Carolyn Brown who likewise did not extend the courtesy of a reply. Very unprofessional! All I can conclude is that I got ripped off.

We messaged through Angie's List on 10/4/18 and did not receive a reply. We called twice, there was no answering service, the call hung up on us both times at 9AM in the morning. Any response, even if it is "your area is out of our range" is appreciated.

Ray was very responsive and offered really helpful feedback on the status of my 1970's toilet which I had been considering replacing (very limited options due to non-standard rough-in). He gave me some great tips on keeping the toilet running well, and I feel his comments were honest and in my best interest regarding issues with specific manufacturers (Delta faucets - drip issue), and pros-cons of replacing old shower handles. I do think the price was a bit high, $100 for visit, $84(with tax) for replacing these 2 minor parts with parts that I provided. However, trust goes a long way, so I will likely call Brown's next time I need a plumber.
