John came and gave us an estimate for replacing a Pergo floor which was higher than other estimates we received. In speaking to him, you can tell he knows his stuff and we felt comfortable enough that he would do the job to perfection - which is what we wanted. The crew came and did a great job. The floor looks beautiful and we will definitely have John back to do more work for us in the future.

John and his team did an outstanding job refinishing the wood floors in our dining room, foyer, powder room, kitchen and laundry room. Cost of work was very reasonable, they started and finished as scheduled and the quality of their work and their professionalism was extraordinary. We would highly recommend them to anyone who needs to refinish wood floors.

John was prompt in providing an estimate (24 hours) and could accommodate our start date. His workers were polite and timely. They began sanding, which did not leave an extensive amount of dust. They showed me four stain samples, including one that was a custom mix. We selected our finish and they applied it. His folks did an excellent job.

it's a shame. Cronin were great while they were doing the work. they took longer finishing (supposed to be a week) than they estimated but they were responsive and helpful and very nice the whole while. However, once they completed the job, i noticed two things amiss. one section of the floor felt wobbly and unsturdy and there was damage to a section of the wall. Slightly concerned, I emailed john about it and he said he was going on vacation and would get back to me when he returned and we could address the issue. i never heard from him and touched base again. no response. then hurricane irene hit so i let it go for a bit, figuring they might have some things to deal with. however, they didn't get back in touch. i got in touch again. mostly i felt i was chasing them. we went back and forth on a time that could fit into his schedule and that i could leave work to come and meet him. we couldn't make and still haven't been able to make anything work. am hoping to make something work this week but this back and forth and unresponsiveness after the fact (and the check has been cashed) has soured me a bit on the experience. still, they were great and nice going into it and during. i'm WOULD NOT them back for other work. I think how you treat customers after the fact is just as important. There are plenty of other fish in the sea. UPDATE: never heard back from them which is disheartening. can't recommend someone who won't stand behind their work.

I liked everything about them. They were very professional and clean. They had a great deal of attention to detail. They did an excellent work. The hardwood floor looks beautiful. I would absolutely use their service in the future.

They were professional, knowledgeable, punctual and friendly. They helped me pick out a color and finish that looks beautiful. I am in the process of doing many renovations on my apartment and this has been the smoothest transaction. I highly recommend.

We found three different hardwood floor refinishers on Angie’s List and got three different estimates. The reason we decided to go with Cronin Hardwood Floors was because their estimate was most reasonable (actually, we ended up spending $500 less than their estimate). Also, they were very responsive, professional, and willing to work around a busy household with two adults, an eight-year-old boy and a two-year-old puppy. Everyone else said we would have to move out for the week, or it would be twice the cost. One of the estimates included (and insisted) on completely replacing the hardwood floor in the office due to old water and termite damage. And those were all expenses that we really did not want to incur. However, Cronin’s team came up with a plan where we didn't have to replace the floor, and we didn't have to move our of our house. They even helped us with a few pieces of furniture that we couldn’t move by ourselves. Moreover, one of the most surprising things was that they didn’t ask for any money up front. They insisted that we pay when the job was finished and when we were happy with the results. We were thrilled with the results. Our floors are gorgeous and turned out better than we ever expected. We would definitely use them again in a heartbeat.

I decided not to go ahead with the job, but I would have given the job to Cronin if I had. His quote was slightly better than another I received, and his method of varnishing/polyurethaning took less time than one of his competitors and seemed like it would provide a similar result.

What could have been a nightmare with the mess that existed underneath the carpet turned out fine. They cleaned up the floors and there was no mess or dust to speak of.

The experience was stress free and very satisfactory. John came right away to give us an estimate, followed up within a day or so, then was able to start the work in a week. The whole job took about six days. We were on a tight schedule, and he finished the job when he said he would. We'd already had somebody do the initial sanding, so they did two more layers of sanding, including all the corners and edges, and then put down two or three layers of stain. Then they put the water-base finish. When they finished, we barely recognized the apartment. It looks gorgeous! We are extremely happy with the finished job, and also how responsive John was. We talked to him about twice a day on the phone while he was working on our floors. For the quality of the work he provided, John is very reasonably priced. We highly recommend Cronin Hardwood Floors.

The floors were refinished on two separate days in two successive weeks. The customer (me) removed all wall-wall carpeting. The furniture was removed and placed in the other bedroom; hence the two separate weeks. Cronin came when they said each time. The floor sanding was dust-free, with the sanded wood being sucked out from the sanding machine via a long hose through a window to a vacuum machine outside. NO DUST IN THE HOUSE! They started at 9AM and finished at 3PM (each bedroom). The floors look wonderful. They did an excellent job.

Mr Cronin was the only contractor to give us an estimate right after reviewing the work. Everyone else wanted to send it to us when they could. So we had an immediate idea of what we had to budget for. He was friendly and answered all of our questions without making us feel rushed. Even phone follow up questions were answered promptly. Also, with a wedding coming up soon, and the job of ripping up the old flooring all done by me, he was flexible with the shifting start date. Most of the floor was very old and had many sways, dips and met up with an newer part of the house which caused a floor ridge where the old met the new. I truly had my doubts that the floor would come out well considering all the floor challenges. The first day on the job, Mr. Cronins crew spent the day fixing some wood rot and some uneven flooring. That started to make me feel better about the job. I have to say he was very responsive and worked well within my budget. His crew was responsive, friendly and capable. But the proof was in the final product. I was truly impressed with the quality of the job and the beautiful end product. Especially the way the new hardwood floor met up with the original parquet floor which also came out stunning. He gave us a day to ponder what stain we wanted to use by applying 4 stain sections to the floor. That made the decision easier to make as you could envision how the floor would ultimately look like. We had a lot of visitors over for the wedding and everyone commented on how beautiful the floors looked. Additionally, at the last day of completion, I had him do all the first floor moulding. he suggested a fancier moulding rather than putting back the original bland moulding. What a difference that made! I'm glad i listened to him as it just enhanced the overall beauty of the floor and the rooms. He gave me what i thought was a good price on the spot and he completed the work in one day returning the next day for touch ups. We even called him up for a sticky bathroom door and next day a worker was there to remedy the situation. An excellent job and an excellent experience. Attention to quality and customer satisfaction is apparent with Mr. Cronin. I would not hesistate at all to use Cronin Hardwood flooring again or recommend him to anyone! The man knows his business. Wy wife LOVES the floor and could not find one negative thing to say about the experience. And the only reason i didn't give him an excellent on price was because i did not solicit other price quotes other than one i had gotten that was a little lower than his but that company was slow to return phone calls, which made me uncomfortable. I was worried about the adage "you get what you pay for". I thought his price was reasonable as it matched closely my mental budget target for the work being done and also talking to other people convinced me his price was fair and reasonable.

I contacted John Cronin on a very tight timeline, reaching him first on a weekend. He was responsive and professional from start to finish. He came to the apartment and gave me an estimate within three days of our first contact - it was reasonable and he never varied from it. He was always reachable, was personally on site at least once every day and the crew was courteous and efficient. Most important - John is honestly an artist. It's clear he loves to do beautiful work and that is exactly what I got. The job was completed on time and every detail was carefully handled, with me fully in the loop at all times. You should absolutely use this company. I can't imagine a better experience or outcome.

After the owner himself came by to give us an estimate on refinishing the hardwood floors on our second floor, we hired Cronin Hardwood Floors. We had gotten several other estimates, and while Cronin was not the least expensive, we hired him because of the advice, counsel and workplan he provided at the estimate visit. We actually only had two rooms that we originally thought we would have refinished (they had carpet over the hardwood), but Cronin advised us that if we refinished just two rooms on the floor, the floors would look different, and therefore would not be aesthetically pleasing - we had not thought of that. We also had several hardwood planks in the master bedroom that were warped and had thick nails sticking out from them. Cronin said he could fix the hump in the warped boards, and make sure everything was even. The first day of work, approximately 5 workers showed up on time, set up the dustless vaccum system. The workers were quiet, respectful, communicative and easy to be around (we stayed in the house the whole time). The lead worker was informed, was able to confirm the work we had contracted, provide additional advice, and helpful. The owner came by early in the job to make sure we were happy, and that the work was on-task and on-time. He was always reachable. They had estimated the work would take 2 days, which was reasonable, but wound up staying an extra couple hours (on a 3rd day) to do some finishing touches. Not an issue, since the job was big and we wanted all the finishing touches they offered. Their work was efficient and they kept us informed of progress. We didn't really get to see the work until after it was done each day (as the stairs to the second floor were being done), but when we were asked to come up and inspect (after sanding, then after finishing), we were thrilled. The work was great - looked like brand new floors. And the warped board situation -- like it never existed -- (they went under the planks, without damaging them, fixed a floor issue below the planks, and replaced them). The stairs needed some shoe moulding, and John Cronin was amenable to adding that finishing touch to the job. We look forward to enjoying our new floors for years to come, and while we can't speak to how well they'll hold up over time, we believe they will give us years and years of great use and beauty. We were extremely happy with their services, the value for the money, the owner, the workers and the outcome. We will recommend them to others, and will definitely use them again.

Mr. Cronin was great. He was very conscientious. I called on a weekend and he showed up that same day. He gave me a quote right away. They guys who came out did terrific work and he showed up a couple of times to make sure that they were doing everything correctly. I would absolutely call them back in the future.

I called John on Monday evening (after business hours), and he returned my call immediately. He came on Wednesday evening to give me an estimate ? again after working hours, as he is very accommodating. I must say: as a first time homeowner, I have to deal with stress on a daily basis, but John?s help and performance was refreshing and of the utmost quality.

From the start, John was very attentive and informative. He responded quickly to our calls and emails, even when he was on vacation. There was another contractor doing some work before and after his project, and John even fixed some problems that the other contractor made. Floors looked great.

We are fixing my mother's house for rental. We live 200 miles away. All the contact was done by phone. Mr. Cronin was very responsive to our needs. The work was superb and done on time. This company is very reliable and trustworthy.

John Cronin is an absolute gem to deal with. Very friendly, patient and understanding. I had a problem where my Stalinist management company got involved half way into the project demanding all sorts of documentation and stoppage of work. John was very patient given the situation and was very quick in turning around all necessary documentation and licenses. John also took the time out to drop off baseboard samples at my office which saved me time and effort, and was great with answering all of my detailed technical questions and concerns. His crew of two men were also very tidy and considerate, and did a marvelous job of carefully wrapping and protecting my furniture and personal items. The quality of the floor installation was superb; installed very tightly against radiators and other obstructions, and floorboards were fully prepared for painting. The only minor issue experienced, is that the job ran a few days over what was originally agreed upon due to John juggling other client commitments, but he apologized and communicated ahead of time to confirm that it was not an issue for me to wait a few extra days. In summary, John and his crew were awesome. For a new floor installation, I couldn't ask for a better experience. I thought it was fantastic! One of the best experiences I have had with a home repair person! He took the time to educate us on the grain of the wood and what color stain to use. He was very honest and trustworthy. They came back for a touch up that I requested and didn't question why. They were very reasonably priced. I would definitely recommend them to others.

John and his crew have always arrived when promised with perhaps one exception, when an unexpected problem arose. They called us before arriving and called to warn us the time they were late. Such a rare but simple gesture of respect and responsibility was highly appreciated. The estimates were always accurate. The work was done when agreed and completed on schedule without drama. John and his workers are pleasant, professional, hardworking and experts at what they do, and they clean up when they are done! I only hope that Angie's List will enable me to find a carpenter, plumber, electrician, gardner and mason with some of these qualities!

John Cronin's men did a fantastic job! To begin with the owner, John Cronin, responded immediately to our call and was over within a couple of days to look over the job. He was extremely professional (and a very nice person!). Over the course of the job, he managed his workers very well. They arrived on time and were very careful about containing the wood dust so it didn't spread throughout the house. We recommend them very highly!

John was very responsive and understood my position when I called needing to get the work done right away. I had not expected prospective tenants to snatch up the apt on the first showing. His crew were very professional, prompt and tidy. I and my tenants are very happy with the finished product.

Where opportunities presented themselves to add a special "finishing touch" they took the initiative and did not charge more.
