Started out great. Work started on time and was on schedule. Cabinets very high quality. At time of contract agreement, was told work would be done by employees, not sub-contractors and that he "would lose money to make sure the customer was happy." Aside from foreman, others were sub-contractors. Foreman was not also present when sub-contractors were in the house. Jewelry was "missing." Kitchen Guy said he would reimburse. I provided a receipt for 1 item and was never paid (a number of the items had been my mother's and not replaceable). At start of demolition and beginning of work, the wood floor that was staying was not covered properly and damaged. The Kitchen Guy was not happy with his crew and offered to pay for the floor to be refinished. I offered to pay for 1/2 since the floor was not brand new and 1/2 of the kitchen floor (where the table is) was not being remodeled. I asked numerous times for the contact info to have the floor refinished and was unable to get it or have the contractor contacted by The Kitchen Guy. Plumbing was sub-par on all fronts. Hose from dishwasher to disposal drain was too long, twisted and not secured. We had to fix it ourselves. Dishwasher was not installed correctly, vibrates when used and was never corrected. Gas hook-up connection was installed incorrectly and we had to show the plumber why it was wrong. Plumber destroyed a fairly new $350 faucet requiring the purchase of a new faucet (an unexpected expense). When The Kitchen Guy was told, he defended the plumber saying the bottom plate could not be removed. We carefully removed it in about 30 seconds (it was unusable since the plumber wasn't careful and destroyed it). During the work, the electricity was turned off and not turned back on when done for the day. The refrigerator temporarily located in the dining room was turned off for several days and all the food had to be thrown out. The "job" was completed on time. Had the issues above been resolved, I would have been happy (these are only the major issues- there were a number of others I was willing to overlook - no job is perfect). I called, left messages, etc. and was never able to reach The Kitchen Guy or get any action. He never came to see the final job and take pictures as he said he would. Between being very busy working and totally frustrated, I made the mistake of letting it go too long. I sent a final certified letter in April 2009 and received a voice mail saying how bad he felt and he wanted to make sure everything was corrected. I returned his call several times and received no response. I contacted the Better Business Bureau and he ignored their timelines and final request for information also.
