We had a great experience with purchasing our kitchen cabinets from Direct Depot. We were especially lucky to work with their sales person Bill Hancock. Bill was very knowledgeable and patient with us during the whole process. We had gone to several other places prior to arriving at Direct Depot (after being referred to them, and Bill specifically, by a coworker). It was a totally different experience with Bill and Direct Deport versus when we had gone to other places. Unlike the previous places, Bill truly listened to our ideas and worked patiently to help us design our dream kitchen, within our budget. We never felt rushed or pressured during the whole process. Bill was also very forthcoming with the delivery time frame,as it was a pretty long wait due to increased demand because of the post-Sandy reconstructions that were ongoing at the time. Overall we were very satisfied with our purchase, both with the quality of the cabinets and the services provided to us. Bill was even available for questions after the delivery, as my husband did the installations himself and needed a few pointers for the project. Bill also stopped by to check out the finished product after and to provide additional advice on how to do the finishing touches (led lights, kick plates, molding, etc.). I would definitely recommend Direct Depot and Bill Hancock to anyone looking for quality kitchen cabinets and a positive customer services experience.

I needed a kitchen quickly for the rental unit of my two family home. I was looking for a good deal, as I did not want to spend a ton of money on cabinets for my future tenants. I did my homework and Direct Depot offered me the best price! They also sat with me one-on-one going through each cabinet of the layout. I was very comfortable purchasing as my designer broke down all of the details and taught me a lot about cabinets! I felt like I was in control because we designed the whole project together on a big screen from start to finish. I selected what fit my needs and style but with the guidance of a professional. Now that the kitchen is installed, I couldn't be happier and the end result exceeded my expectations. I plan on remodeling my own kitchen soon and I will definitely be back to Direct Depot!
Description of Work: Direct Depot provided me with a professional design and good quality cabinets for my rental kitchen. They also measured the space to ensure the cabinets would fit and connected me with a great installer. The service was fast and they process was painless!

I want to express our sincere appreciation to Direct Depot Kitchens and the designer Steven. It is so nice to work with someone who knows their job and is willing to put it so much extra effort to get things done. There is so much to choose from in their showroom that it was hard for us to make a decision but finally we decided to go with Starmark cabinets and I have to tell you, we couldn't be happier with the results. The cabinets are amazing our kitchen looks like a kitchen from a magazine. We checked out the products offered at the "big box stores" and some other cabinet shops, but none of them could compare to the quality and price point that Direct Depot provides. Throughout our dealings with Direct Depot we have experienced tremendous service and support all the way from our first contact through design, delivery, and installation. My installer was so impressed that is going to start recommending you to future clients. I have also recommended you to some all my friends already actually they all have asked me where I got the cabinets from. Thank you Steven for making our dream kitchen become a reality .

Our designer at Direct Depot Kitchen Wholesalers was a very charming and professional designer. He took his time to show us different cabinet styles and helped me select the right cabinets that fit our taste and life style. Before we decided to go with DDK we shopped around, but in the end we purchased the cabinets from Direct Depot Kitchen because they had the best value and at a great price, well within our budget. Alan created a digital presentation while I was sitting in his office, so I knew what the kitchen was going to look like before we even discussed placing an order. I wanted to create a ?shabby chic? look but with rustic flare. Alan showed me different color schemes and custom finishes. He also took his time and gave me an alternate kitchen floor plan as another option. After we finalized the design, Alan went through each item with us to make sure every item was included and that we understood what we were buying. He made sure that we were comfortable and that our expectations would be met. He also explained some installation details required for the proper installation and that was extremely helpful. The after sale services were great as well. Our contractor called Alan every time he had a question regarding the cabinet installation and we have gotten so many compliments already. They look amazing. I cannot wait to host our next holiday gathering here. Thank you very much Alan. I really appreciate that my satisfaction drives your actions. It makes me feel like a valued customer - even after the sale. It has been a positive experience. I recommend Direct Depot Kitchen Wholesalers to anyone out there looking to get new cabinetry .

Not once did I hear from direct depot. I figure this is the first week they won't be inundated by calls from me but I never gave up hope that they would make things right and I thought for sure they would appreciate my patience. After that week was over my daughter was also taken to the ER with a life threatening allergic reaction and she lives more than six hours away by plane. I couldn't be with her instead since in that situation the care that she gets within the first few hours predict the outcome, I concentrated on communicating with the hospital by phone in making sure she'd be okay. That was the only time I didn't think about Direct Depot and the mess they claim is Ultracraft's fault. . Coming back to regular life from my family emergencies and the reality that having no kitchen means having to wash my dishes in the tub while Direct Depot could care less because they already have my payment in full really depressed me enough to anger me. I wasn't sure if Direct Depot was being truthful regarding whether it was a mistake on the manufacturers side or not. Even though I knew that it didn't matter because no matter what, I did business with Direct Depot and they're the ones that should be helping me, I decided to reach out to the manufacturer the next day. This was this past Wednesday 2/12/2014.I found ultracraft representatives' in New Jersey information and I contacted them. They took down my name and said they were going to get back to me. That phone call was made before I started work early in the morning. By 3:30 pm that same day I get a voice mail from Jeff. He said that the ultracraft representative Bob, was there and they both wanted to talk to me. I thought, we're finally getting somewhere here. I returned his call and was told he would call me back within 10 minutes. I waited 10 min, called him and they said he was in a meeting about a designer that quit and came back to speak to the boss. Meanwhile, I get a call from my husband, he was upset. It turned out that while I was trying to reach Jeff and the ultracraft rep, they were already tied up on a three way conversation with my husband. The rep said to my husband that there was a data entry error that caused the problem we had with our cabinets being the wrong sizes and he said that there was nothing they can do. My husband then suggested they return our money and they said that they could not do that. My husband was in disbelief. I could not believe what was happening. I thought for sure these people think us beyond stupid. I had reached out to many people at direct depot during the past three weeks including 2 customer service workers that I sent copies of the contract to including the kitchen diagrams. They all agreed the paper work was right and the cabinets were not matching the dimensions on them. They agreed the error wasn't my fault and it should be corrected but they all sent me back to jeff because they said he was the one handling it. Everyone of the people answering the phone knew me by first name. There was no one there left to talk to.On the internet I noticed that there are places direct depot has high reviews and places where they don't. The BBB rated them a D. I was suspicious about Angie's list and was disappointed to see that the rating here might not be influenced by a more representative sample of people. For example, in order to leave this review I had to pay and buy a membership. What I've done after that encounter is that I've written some reviews and I've gathered my paperwork and paper trail of all kinds of details getting ready to take this to court if I have to. I'm filing a complaint with the BBB and consumer affairs, hoping that it would be enough. Consumer affairs has reached out to Jeff. Jeff responded to consumer affairs that the manufacturer has decided to assume the loss and correct the problem. He lied and said that that is what he told my husband and that I'm hard to reach. I have email and voicemail. The only voicemail I've ever gotten from him is the one mentioned above. The stress that they have caused me could never be repaired. I have an arrhythmia that has been aggravated by all this and I made sure during this time to take my medication and it still wasn't enough to relieve my symptoms. I hope that they do make things right. They can start by calling me and telling me that they will begin to order the appropriate replacements for my cabinets. My trust in them has been affected by all of this and I shall remain nervous until all my cabinets are in and they are as described in my contract: cherry cabinets, chocolate stain, and they are all the correct dimensions and details that apply to each as mentioned on the contract. UPDATE: 2/21/2014 I've been in touch with Jeff this past whole week. He has informed me that my cabinet replacements have been ordered. He also has informed me that due to his efforts, DOA will be March 10 rather than later. That is still 7 weeks from the date that i received the wrong cabinets but I do appreciate all his efforts. Jeff has been most attentive this past week making sure to keep me updated both on the phone and via email. I'm looking forward to updating this review with more good news. UPDATE: 3/15/2014. My cabinets were installed by Bezrok at Lucky Three. They did a phenomenal job. The cabinets that were replaced came back a noticeable richer color. It looks like there were more coats of stain applied. These new ones look more like the "chocolate" that I had originally ordered. Bez agreed when I showed him the sample slab from the store, which I still have. and suggested either put the lighter ones in the sun and see if that helps (because cherry darkens) or get them exchanged but I think I'm just going to get the fronts of the lighter ones corrected under warranty. Hopefully I'll have no problems. I sent Jeff pictures showing the difference. Update: 4/26/2014. Jeff I cannot improve the rating on Angie's list until you keep your promise and help me get my cabinets door fronts color corrected. Why haven't I heard from you? I gave you the information you asked for more than a month ago. Update: 5/14/2014. Three weeks ago consumer affairs contacted Jeff and told him I had not heard from him regarding correcting the color on the doors. Jeff got back to me and said he didn't know his customer service department hadn't contacted me. He said he remembered the promise to take care of the doors and said that they were going to need a sample of one of my good doors. I took the door off the hinges and brought it over the weekend. I called to make sure he got it and he said he did and that they were going to start working on making the replacement doors. Two weeks later (yesterday) I get a call from Jeff. It appears that the plan has changed. Jeff forgot all about his claim on how they pride themselves in customer service and is now saying that it's "procedure" for the manufacturer to have to come to my house to look at the problem first. They're back to letting ultra craft bully them and me. I agreed to the visit only if they work around my schedule because as I had explained and they should know, I've already exhausted all my emergency days at work dealing mostly with everything written here that they've put me through since January 23rd. UPDATE ONE YEAR LATER January 2015. They (Jeff and ultracraft rep) visited my home, I alerted them that they were being recorded. They took pictures and hardly said a word. They left and eventually I received notice that some of the doors were going to be replaced, to make them darker so that they can match the remaining doors. They took a sample door to use as a color match. I spent months with a kitchen missing a door. What ended up happening is that when The replacements were delivered now there was a new problem, some of the new ones were now too dark even when compared to the same door color they were supposedly copying. So once more an ultracraft rep came and once again I recorded the visit and it didn't seem to matter as this ultracraft rep lady wasn't there a full minute before blurting out that the door colors were "within specs". She couldn't answer my question about why the first time they had admitted there was a color problem not having anything to do with the nature of cherry wood. She hung around long enough to raise her voice in my home until I asked her to leave. Direct depot's manager was with her and he remained a good hour or more discussing the door colors, and agreeing on which had to be corrected. He took pictures and information and left. My only concern is that they failed at matching and being consistent the first time. I suggested that they do all the doors at once since I was told that mixing up batches of wood was not going to give me the uniform look I would've gotten had they not messed up to begin with. That was before thanksgiving 2014. Since then I was told in one email that things seem to be going good but now it's 2015 and Direct depot's manager, Jeff, won't respond to my emails of me requesting an update from him. I called today and left a message and he still has not gotten back to me. Please be aware that the company response below was written in February2014. It's now going to be a full year and Some of My cabinet problems are still unaddressed, While Jeff keeps telling me that they are on my side most times it doesn't feel like it. I'm so disappointed.
Description of Work: Sold us ultracraft cabinets. Custom sizing on most. Cherry wood stickley wide chocolate stain. The designer made me initial a paper that included a clause (later removed by them before I signed the contract) that said I provided dimensions of my kitchen and I would be held responsible if my cabinets didn't fit. I asked if they offered to send someone over to measure, they said yes and I said then there is no problem. When I asked what happens if their person makes a mistake; would they sign a clause for me stating they would take responsibility? The answer that I got is that their person never makes mistakes. The day came, their guy measured my kitchen and I noticed his measuring tape was flopping all over the place. I offered to hold it and he refused. When the designer gave me his guy's dimensions I challenged them by video taping my husband holding a tape measure and showing proof that their guy measured my space to be bigger than it actually was. I sent the video to them and explained that if I were to use their guy's measurements in choosing the sizes of my cabinets I'd have a big problem. The designer did not offer an apology instead he got annoyed. The next issue came with some errors (in the measurements for the cabinets) that I saw on the contract that they wanted me to sign. They weren't exact by fractions of an inch. I brought it to his attention and he insisted that it would not matter. I wasn't comfortable with that and insisted that it be corrected. All numbers on the contract were corrected except for one cabinet (over the fridge). It said 11 1/4". I wanted 12". He whited it out and penciled it in and sent it back to me. I still refused to sign because I told him its not consistent (none of the other measurements were handwritten) Meanwhile, Later he lost patience with me while I was trying to ask for help choosing the right door style. It got to the point that he yelled at me. At this point I asked to speak to a supervisor, Jeff. Although the designer did apologize, I requested that Jeff (the manager) handle my order from then on. I told him I no longer felt comfortable working with the designer. I asked that all the cabinet measurements be accurate on paper before I sign and I requested the clause to be taken out because it was their measuring guy that almost made a mistake, I was the one that caught it. They corrected the numbers, took the clause out and emailed the documents one last time. That was at the end of November 2013. We only discussed (via email and voice calls) the dishwasher panel from then on because the cabinet manufacturer (ultracraft) had contacted him to get clarification about the exact dimensions of the dishwasher panel. I was confused as to why they didn't know what to do. My designer had said (in the beginning when i had a designer) that all you do is give the manufacturer the model of the dishwasher and from there they know what the door size would be. I provided that information to the designer from the beginning and he even checked it himself. But now they're wanting me to guess what size they should make it. I suggested that they call the dishwasher manufacturer. I felt uncomfortable giving him any numbers because I honestly didn't know what to tell them. I felt forced to come up with an answer so we talked about it for a while back and forth until we decided it would be a door panel 17 1/2 x 29 15/16. It was agreed and he sent me an email stating this. About two months later I was told my cabinets were done and ready for delivery. Soon came the delivery date. I set up an appointment with the installer that they recommend, his name is Bez. The install date was set for 1/25. The cabinets were to arrive 1/22. The delivery guys were very nice. I even tipped them. I later noticed they dented my wooden French door but it's nothing wood filler can't fix. I was very excited and announced to every one I knew that after the hurricane a year ago I will soon be whole again and I'd have a housewarming. I've been without a sink since August 2013. I've been dealing with contractors and trying to avoid shoddy work. Trying to find honest, fair good contractors has been stressful. Living in those conditions had been uncomfortable. The whole kitchen process was nerve wrecking and time consuming. I was glad it was almost over. When I looked over my cabinets the first thing I noticed was that some cabinets seemed darker than others. Mine are cherry wood so I figured cherry darkens maybe the lighter ones will darken in time or maybe because they are bigger pieces compared to the smaller, the stain saturation looks a bit different. I made a mental note to ask about that. The next thing I did was find my over the fridge custom sized piece and my heart sank when I measured it and it wasn't 12". Because my cabinets are melamine on the carcass the standard color is beige on the underside. The cabinet has to be the right size, for it to both fit and for the refrigerator to hide the underside. I quickly sent Jeff an email told him there was a problem. Followed it with a call and told him I'd measure more cabinets the next day. The next day I opened more boxes in my cramped space and discovered that my 15" wide 3 drawer base was missing. What I did find in its place was a much bigger one at 18" wide. That will not fit in a 15" space. The dishwaher panel was completely missing from the delivery (when i asked about it I was told they were still not done with it). There were also 3 wall cabinets that were 1/2" longer than what is on the contract. One of them had bad scratches too. Being that my ceiling is pretty low at 88", the absolute longest cabinet I will be happy with is the 36" that i ordered. Also, if they were longer than 36" they will overlap my oulet covers. I also noticed the base where the supersusan corner cabinet is to sit upon, looked larger than the supersusan cabinet itself. There is an ugly nail hole on the face of the door for the supersusan too. One thing I'm sure the designer said to me from the very beginning was that if upon delivery anything is wrong he didn't want me to worry, he assured me that it would be taken care of. I really believed those words. I quickly called the installer and the granite company and I cancelled both appointments. I told Jeff all the details I mention above, including about the color of the cabinets. I felt a bit nervous he wasn't offering any reassuring words even about the color. At one point he did mention that he agreed that my order had been messed up "royally". I decided to concentrate on the major problems and that was the measurements on the cabinets that weren't right. For the next two weeks I would hear that it was under investigation. I called several times every day during weekdays, consuming all my work breaks, to follow up and get feedback about these problems. I never got a call, it was me making all the calls and most the time I was told Jeff was in a meeting, at lunch, went home sick, in the bathroom, you name it. At the end of that second week he told me that it was discovered that the errors on my order were caused by a data entry error on the manufacturers (ultracraft) side and he said that they were wondering if I would accept the top wall cabinets as is. I told him that I couldn't even believe that he was asking me that and I felt pressured to explain why that would be wrong when in fact it was they that owed me an explanation for why I was being made to wait, why an apology hadn't been offered and why wasn't I being reassured that it would be resolved. At that point he said he would apologize. But my other questions remained unanswered. During the third week my mother was hospitalized with a heart problem and I went out of state to be with her.

Response from Direct Depot Kitchen Wholesalers Inc
I have spoken with [member name removed] today , and reiterated the facts that the manufacturer in fact made an error in the Data Entry stages of the cabinet order. I also recognize that the manufacturer representative did not provide the support that Direct Depot expected to be given to the matter , and in particular during the phone conversation with our customer. Direct Depot has reordered the incorrectly made custom cabinets and has challenged the manufacturer to expedite the replacement time frame as if there was no time lost. The replacement custom cabinetry will be completed and in our warehouse in New Jersey on March 10. Direct Depot sincerely apologizes to [member name removed] for this stressful situation caused by the manufacturer and that is why Direct Depot Kitchens has done everything we can to resolve the matter. Direct Depot has ordered replacement doors and drawers to the cabinetry that was agreed mutually being too different from the balance of remaining cabinets. At the homeowners request, we are using the original door sample door that she had taken from our showroom as a color match. The member especially requested one specific corner of a door sample to be used as the color tone of the new doors. The door sample that the member purchased her entire kitchen based on has just much inconsistency in the overall color as most of kitchen doors do now. These doors are expected to arrive in late February and will be delivered to the homeowner once they arrive. Jeff Rambaldi General Manager Direct Depot Kitchens

After attempting to begin the process of a complete kitchen renovation with 2 other major chains, I made the smart decision to go with Direct Depot Kitchen. It was an easy decision to make once I met with Bill Hancock. He KNOWS cabinets and took the time to make sure my wife and I were completely satisfied with the design and quality of the cabinets. Even after the cabinets arrived and the renovation were in the hands of the contractor, Bill took the time to check up on the progress. Direct Depot Kitchen makes you feel like family, not just a customer.

This was the second kitchen cabinetry we have purchased from Direct Depot Kitchen Wholesalers. In 2009, we worked with Bill Hancock at Direct Depot Kitchen Wholesalers to design our small kitchen. We selected JSI at the time and installed it. The kitchen looked beautiful, and we were very happy with cabinets and experience of designing kitchen. We knew how kitchen is going to look like before placing order. The after sale services were great as well. We ordered a hinge for door six months after installation, and was replaced without any hassle and cost. So happy with experience, I contacted Bill again when we were shopping for our appx 400sq feet kitchen. We spent good amount of time designing kitchen, and with Bill's suggestion, designed cabinetry with mixed cabinets -Two tone and Two different cabinets manufacturers - JSI and Starmark. Created amazing looks with mix of Espresso JSI and Ivory Starmark. This mix of cabinetry allowed us to complete project within budget, and create rich custom looks with blend of Ivory Starmark. We had designed kitchen that required installation by an experienced cabinet installer. Bill advised us to have installer to review design with him to ensure installed product turns out as designed. We did follow up on his advise. The cabinets looks amazing after installation. We ended up ordering scribe molding, which was generously fulfilled by customer service folks at Direct Depot Kitchen Wholesalers. Next, we plan to work with Bill on custom Built-in Wall Units surrounding fireplace. I recommend Bill and his team at Direct Depot Kitchen Wholesalers any time!!

My contractor recommended that my husband and I see BILL HANCOCK to discuss cabinets for our new kitchen and we were not disappointed. We brought our kitchen drawings to Bill's office and he recreated the kitchen layout in 3D so it was easy to visualize the whole kitchen. Bill was very knowledgeable about cabinetry details and finishes and he provided helpful recommendations based on our lifestyle and budget. The entire process from our initial meeting to signing the contract took about two weeks because we changed our minds about some details. Bill was very patient with us and happy to work with our schedule, which included late nights and weekends. When we were finally ready to sign the contract, Bill went through each item with us to make sure every item was included and that we understood what we were buying. He also explained to us the special care instructions required for the painted cabinets we purchased and made notes on the drawings for the contractor based on details we discussed about how we wanted things to look. We ended up purchasing Starmark cabinets, based on Bill's recommendation and after looking at other cabinet options. We had previously considered cabinets from Home Depot or Lowe's (KraftMaid, etc.), but for a similar price, the Starmark cabinets were of much better quality and had better standard features (3/4" plywood sides, soft close hinges, full extension drawers, etc.). We were given a lead time of 8 weeks and they arrived right on time. The only snafu we ran into was a missing side panel for the island that the factory forgot to ship. Bill called us right away to let us know that the factory would ship it directly to us and we would have it within two weeks, which we did. Now that the cabinets are installed and we have been using them for a couple of months, we absolutely love them. They are very solid and well-built. The lazy susan glides effortlessly even after we've loaded it with cans and jars. Same for drawers loaded with stacks of dishes. The painted finish looks great and is surprisingly easy to care for. (Mr. Clean magic erasers work wonders!) Overall, we are very happy with our purchase and the service from Bill at Direct Depot. We would highly recommend working with Bill, as well as the Starmark cabinets over other similarly priced brands.

We've done about a half dozen kitchens with Direct Depot and Bill Hancock to date. Bill is one of the most accommodating professionals I've worked with, always willing and able to work with our schedule. He's also extremely knowledgeable about kitchen design and the top products in the space. I'm particularly pleased with Starmark cabinets, very well constructed - the box is 3/4" multi-laminate plywood for a very strong and rigid build. Higher quality cabinets are always easier to install than lower-end cabinetry, which is always a top consideration that leads us to Direct Depot and Starmark. The finish is excellent as well, along with overall product support and pricing. Direct's large showroom is spectacular, with an impressive state-of-the-art design center. We're extremely pleased with Bill and Direct Depot and will continue to use their products and services as we go forward.

Bill Hancock made our wish for a high end professional kitchen come true. Although we had a fairly good idea of what we wanted Bill the design and sales consultant asked us all of the right questions and offered some great ideas on maximizing the design and function of our space. From our first trip to the Direct Depot showroom through the finishing touches of the installation Bill was there to assist us and help keep the project on track. This guy really knows his stuff and took the time to check and recheck each piece of cabinet, spacers, handles, moldings etc. before placing our final order, even when we decided on last minute changes and add ons. Although we hadn't planned on it, we decided to use the other professionals in the Direct Depot building for flooring, counters, backsplash and (Cabinet and appliance) installation.
Description of Work: Presented options for cabinet woods, finishes, sizes, styles etc. Prepared detailed layout of finished space, entered, tracked and coordinated the entire order and interfaced with the supporting professionals.

I went out of my way to find this place to remodel my kitchen. I live in Staten Island and I'm glad I did business with them. There isn't much I can add to the positive comments that have already been made about this place, As far as I'm concerned, Direct Depot Kitchen provided the best service in all aspects including price, quality, and professionalism. Bill Hancock, the designer, was fantastic in working with me to procure the cabinets I wanted. His input was priceless not only in terms of kitchen design but also in the quality of referrals ranging from installation to appliance dealers. I would certainly use them again. Again, special thanks to Bill Hancock for the work he did. He is the best.

Direct Depot is a bit unique as a kitchen designer. A few different independent companies share the building?Smart Tile, Counters 'N Tile and Lucky Three, the contractor. You can buy from any of these companies. I chose to work with all of them. It was a seamless process. They all work well together. For the most part they are very responsive and reliable! I was very happy with the design and quality of cabinets and all the services. Nothing is perfect, however, I am VERY happy with the end result. I would highly recommend working with Direct Depot. I shopped around quite a bit prior and know I got the most value for my money. I now have a showplace of a kitchen.

My husband and I had the pleasure of working with Bill Hancock of Direct Depot Kitchens- with his expertise in kitchen and bath design we did not go wrong! Having lived in a rental apartment in Manhattan for over 12 years, my husband, two small children & I were quickly outgrowing our tiny space. We decided to purchase a home in Chappaqua, NY. However, the house had not been updated in any way since 1978 & the kitchen and bathrooms were in need of a major overhaul. By a stroke of good luck, I came across Direct Depot Kitchens in a basic Google search. I was put in touch with Bill Hancock and we set up a virtual meeting via computer to discuss the kitchen design goals I had. Based on very approximate dimensions of the kitchen (Bill's team later had a professional come to the house to take official measurements) Bill was able to come up with an initial design which I was able to follow step-by-step right from my laptop. I visited Direct Depot's showroom in Little Falls twice, which was an easy drive from Manhattan- around 20 minutes- and very worth the trip. There, Bill was able to show me the various types of Starmark cabinets. Bill caught on very quickly to my design and style preference, and was able to help me select a cabinet I am very happy with. The Direct Depot team also assisted with my selection of caesar stone countertops for the kitchen and the granite tops for the two bathroom vanities. We sat down in Bill's office and further tweaked the design of the kitchen, following Bill's suggestions for maximizing the space while minimizing the cost. Through the entire renovation process, Bill was with us every step of the way, going so far as to talk with our contractor numerous times in resolving design questions and concerns, being available to us after normal business hours for any issues we had, and checking in along the way. Bill was always cognizant of our budget and never pressured us into any decisions that did not fit within our set spending limit, while never sacrificing the quality of the produce we were purchasing. If you want a true expert in kitchen and bathroom design who will provide you with a great service at a fantastic price (and is truly a pleasure to work with) then Bill Hancock is your man.
Description of Work: Complete kitchen remodel, as well as design & installation of a double master bathroom vanity & a single vanity in our new home.

After visiting many Kitchen cabinet places, I found Direct Depot on line. Upon arriving, the salesperson allowed us to freely move from kitchen set to another until finding one my to my liking. Then we sat with our design specialist, in my case - Bill Hancock, who proceeded to ask many questions about my needs. He then put on a huge screen, a diagram of what the kitchen would look like. Since I was working on a budget, the first choice was a little too expensive for me. Bill then showed me alternative less expensive cabinets in the same style. He continued to work with me until reaching an affordable option. After discussing how long it would take, I signed an agreement. The cabinets were done just in time as the rest of my house was ready for them. The workers who delivered them, brought the cabinets inside the house, which was not the case when I had new cabinets done somewhere else in 1999. I appreciate the time, effort, assistance and especially the patience in which Bill handled my purchase in such trying times. I'll send some pictures and you can be the judge.

I approached Bill Hancock with the following requirements. 1) the basic footprint of the kitchen does not change; 2) you need to work with a) a large 48 inch new six burner stove with double oven b) large exhaust hood over the stove c) dishwasher not in the original kitchen; d) installation of a warming drawer and e) a larger refrigerator. Complicating the layout was the installation of a support beam at ceiling level where most of the cabinet space would have to go. With the inclusion of the new appliances and additional appliances not in the original kitchen, Bill had his work cut out for him. We spent two full evening of over three hours each putting the plans together. Bill also meet at least twice with the contractor as the renovations were underway and it is a good thing that he did. Once the walls where down to the studs, it was found that the spice cabinet that was part of the original plans was, no kidding, about two inches too big and would not fit. It was deleted from the plans. The end result was absolutely worth every bit of the effort. I have been using the kitchen for several months and the traffic flow as designed into the kitchen works perfectly, especially for a large dinner party. Thank you Bill, it is very much appreciated.
Description of Work: Bill Hancock designed the cabinets for a modern kitchen in a 1920's traditional 3 bedroom house using every square inch of the original footprint.

Great experience at Direct Depot. Our designer, Bill Hancock, helped us create a great kitchen. Both my wife and I work full time, and Bill was very understanding and always made time to meet with us. We went with starmark cabinets, installed them ourselves, and the quality is definitely there, even the countertop contractor we used complimented them. Bill thought of everything in the design that we didn't even think of like placing a spice rack drawer next to the stove and great silverware drawer next to the dishwasher. One of our cabinets had a small ding in in the corner from delivery, and even though it was barely noticeable, Bill acted fast and made it right. I would recommend redoing your kitchen with Bill's help.

Unlike other people here on Angie's List, we didn't waste our time shopping around for kitchen cabinetry from different vendors, we went right to Angie's List for an excellent rated provider in our area and found Bill Hancock at Direct Depot. Since the ratings there were so outstanding, we called immediately and made an appointment to meet with Bill back in late January of 2013. The first thing we noticed at the office location in Little Falls (just a little bit down the road from Willowbrook Mall) was that it was loaded with cabinet options on display for customers to choose from. Plan on meeting several times to hash out a finished renovation layout. Note that you WILL be involved in planning your kitchen. This is not a hands off process. Your input is critical to a successful renovation. Our first meeting lasted about three hours and consisted of going over the photos of our existing kitchen and appliances and getting an initial layout created on the computer so that design changes could be made virtually. Bill uses a professional design program called "20-20 Design" which is very comprehensive as to the actual industry 3D components that can be inserted into your layout and the capabilities to modify your design. This is not a software package you buy off the shelf at a computer store. It's an expensive, professional package. Bill uses a very large screen system so that the customers can see exactly what he is doing with the design, live as he does it, which is very conducive to interaction between you and the designer. At the first meeting we also chose an initial cabinet door style and coloring and Bill provided a wood sample for us to use to coordinate color schemes later on. We also scheduled a professional measuring of the kitchen, the cost of which ($200) will be deducted off the final price of the cabinets (for which Angie's List members currently get an extra discount). After mulling over the first design and approximate costs involved, we of course came up with several changes that we felt enhanced the design and wanted to get them incorporated in. We met with Bill for the second time in March 2013 and rearranged and re-sized some items to improve the layout of the new kitchen. We also changed the coloring and door handles. We already knew from the start what appliances we were keeping and which we were replacing, now it was a matter of actually picking out the exact appliances we would be purchasing and get all the physical details as to dimensions and location of connection hookups. We were given the layout, with the exact measurements to review at home again to make a final decision to go or no go. We also shopped for our appliances and gathered technical info on them. Bill also introduced us to Stephen Anger, the onsite granite, counter and tile person who gave us an estimate on what our granite costs would approximately be. Bill also recommended a contractor (Lucky Three LLC) for us to contact if we didn't have one. Please note that there is no pressure to use their associated vendors if you already have your own people. It's completely up to you. These are services on site as a convenience if you need them. They are also reviewed on Angie's List so you can look them up. After gathering all the details needed for finishing up the design for a couple of weeks, we met with Bill a third time in early April 2013 to sign the order contract and get the order scheduled with manufacturing. We went with the excellent quality Starmark cabinets made in the good old USA. Our cabinets would take between six to eight weeks to custom manufacture, and one of them (the pantry cabinet) would need to be ordered after the kitchen was almost finished because it needed exact measurements after construction was complete (Bill personally came out to our house and measured for this cabinet when we were ready for it). Our cabinetry arrived at the house in early June 2013 and the kitchen renovation commenced in mid-June and finished up in early September 2013. We are very happy with the end result and would definitely use, and recommend, Direct Depot. Great job!

We will start by saying that we have designed several kitchens before but have never returned to the same vendor because we were not happy with one or more aspects of the process. We came across Direct Depot Kitchen and decided to go check the out on a Saturday afternoon because they were open and in our area. When we walked in we met Alan Reichenthal. From our initial contact we knew Alan was going to be the guy to help us through our kitchen project. Alan answered all of our preliminary questions and then we set up an appointment using our rough measurements. The Direct Depot facility was very unique. Alan actually designed the kitchen with us on a large 3-D screen. He was able to change door styles, wood tones and paint colors to meet our preferences. Sometimes we changed our minds and Alan was very patient allowing us to work through our indecisiveness. He was extremely knowledgeable and paid attention to all the details. He offered a lot of suggestions and always found ways to save us money without sacrificing design. Once we got to the final measurements stage there was a detail left out and Alan came to our house himself to quickly get the information so that we could get the cabinets ordered. He knew we were in a hurry to complete this project and wanted to get the ball rolling for us. We had a lot of fun and laughs while working with Alan and we felt like we became friends through the process. We would highly recommend to anyone that is shopping for kitchen cabinets to go to Direct Depot and ask for Alan as your designer. Another bonus with using this company is that they have a relationship with a company that can help with discounting appliances, they have a granite guys (Stephen) in house but works for a different company and a private contractor who installs (Bez) if you need them. There is no pressure to use any of them but it makes the process a lot easier. If we ever do another kitchen we know this will be the place we return too and Alan Reichenthal will be the guy we work with.

My wife and I would like to thank BILL HANCOCK of Direct Depot for the help and guidance he provided us during the planning of our kitchen remodeling project. He was very pleasant to work with and his knowledge of his products, as well as his understanding of construction methods and options were invaluable. We took a long time to make up our minds on some things and he was very patient. Bill made numerous helpful suggestions that we wound up incorporating into the project. The kitchen looks great with the STARMARK cabinets, all the parts went together perfectly, and the price was reasonable. Thanks Bill!hehe

We had about 5 meetings with our designer Bill Hancock . He was very helpful and courteous while designing our kitchen. He took the time to explain all of our options that were available. He came up with many ideas that helped our kitchen to be more functional by expanding our work and storage space. He was always available to answer our many questions. He was always patient because we had a difficult time making decisions. We would recommend asking for Bill Hancock when calling for a kitchen designer. It has been over two years since our kitchen was installed. The cabinets wear like they are brand new. We especially like the self closing drawers and doors. We like my 2 drawer pots and pan drawer with the hidden drawer. Bill did an outstanding job customizing our cabinets to fit our unusual shaped kitchen. It was helpful to go to a showroom with over 50 kitchen displays and thousands of sample doors to look at. The other showrooms we looked at were far smaller. The one stop shopping helped us save time. The 25 square foot design screen made it easier to visualize our future kitchen. Direct Depot's customer service department was prompt to replace two flawed doors. The replacement doors were immediately sent to our home thus saving our time. We recommend timing ordering of cabinets to be delivered to your home after old kitchen cabinets have been removed and room is ready for cabinets to be installed

We worked with Bill at Direct Depot to design the kitchen of our dreams. The design process was very detailed and complicated but ended with beautiful results. The Direct Depot software was amazing and Bill was so experienced and knowledgeable. After going through all the pieces that had to be ordered, I was very pleasantly surprised to find that not a single piece was missing upon delivery nor were there any issues with cabinets not fitting. We had one cabinet door that was broken and Direct Depot immediately ordered a replacement door. Another cabinet had a small hairline crack at the top. We decided to live with since it is concealed by the countertop overhang. Direct Depot was ready to order a replacement cabinet but we did not want to delay installment. The cabinets are very high quality. Even my contractor commented on how well built and sturdy the cabinets are. I am very pleased with my cabinets and the planning assistance provided for them by Direct Depot.

I first went to Lowes and got a quote in what was a four hour session by a woman who was clearly not happy with doing her job. I was drained after I left. Then I went to a few other discount cabinet places where I got a chance to see different brands and learn more about cabinets. One of the salesman I dealt with in another cabinet discount center made it very clear that he did not like the fact that I was getting other estimates for counters. Needless to say I didn?t enjoy that interaction! I wasn't expecting to have any great experience in Direct Depot. I thought I'd have kind of a Lowes experience at best but I was so wonderfully surprised. The experience was night and day. I came to the Depot to price cabinets and see what they had and loved being able to just come in and take my time looking around at the displays and sample doors. My salesman was and still is, I'm happy to say, Alan. I was so impressed with his authenticity and felt immediately comfortable with him. His salesmanship reflects that authenticity and he's a joy to be doing my project with. After looking at cabinets I also got to look at counters. That led me to spend time with Stephen who is a treat to know and deserves his own review. But that?s' another company that works with Direct if that's what the customer wants. Bill is another salesman at Direct Depot that's a sweetheart. The receptionists are a joy to see as I come in. I'm not not a quick sell since I have to make sure that the price is smart and the quality is good for whatever I'm getting. Then once I've made up my mind it seems there is always a design aspect that needs tweaking so I go back to look again. So, once I found my door and got it home as a sample which Alan happily let me take home to look at, I realized that it didn't look right in the kitchen so back to the drawing board! I ended up changing the door finish and just when we were almost at contract I asked to see styles again. Alan was wonderful with that even though I know he had other customers to see. He never made me feel rushed and has shown caring and integrity by being candid with me when he felt I was spending more money than I had to. he is wonderful at figuring ways around design and function issues. He and his boss Jeff have been flexible in dealing with a scheduling issue for my project and I love that they are willing to think out of the box. I'm jazzed about my kitchen and may need to tweak my counter granite choice. Oh well. I guess I should accept that creativity is a process and not expect to have the decisions on anything immediately. It's been fun and that's what's most important to me. I have been telling everyone about them and I feel like I'm part of the family there. That's precious and something no money can buy. I can practically guarantee that you'll be so glad that you went there for your cabinets and counter.

I can not say enough wonderful things about all my dealings with Direct Depot Kitchens in Little Falls, NJ. ** BILL HANCOCK** was my saving grace. He supported me and my ever changing design. He provided guidance that would only come from someone with experience such that ** BILL HANCOCK** has. BILL HANCOCK never made me feel rushed or pressured into making a deal on the spot. He gave me the space to figure things out and together we made it happen. He provided a house call for measurements and provided prompt call backs and supported both me and my contractor from beginning to the end of the project. BILL HANCOCK's service and product knowledge was PRICELESS in making my vision of my new kitchen come to life. I truly feel like a made a friend!!! I will certainly return and have already recommended people to visit Direct Depot Kitchens. Thank you Mr. BIll!
