As with any home improvement projects, there can be, at times, challenges or issues that need to be worked through, and this job was certainly not without its challenges. But, we feel and believe the floor is beautiful and was finished very nicely. Not quite understanding the (deleted member name) disappointments; the job was completed with only a short delay due to some extra work being needed (and certainly beyond our control), and since the completion of the job we have heard nothing from the (deleted member name). No calls have come in regarding concerns or issues, or to express any dissatisfaction. Only now are we even aware of this most unjust review or that the (deleted member name) are not completely happy. Furthermore...all of their issues they bring attention to, are issues we overcame during the process. The details and facts of this job have been muddled and are misleading in this account by (deleted member name). We, at times dont try to make sense out of why a customer may be unhappy, we just address it and do the best we can to manage the situation regardless of whos right or whos wrong. In this case there were some bumpd in the road and we took care of everything. We cant address anything beyong what we know. The (deleted member name) havent talked with us since we completed the job. (deleted member name) unfortunately have forgotten or electively disregarded the arrangements we had from the onset of our discussions which is contributing to this poor review. MEASURING: Regarding their issue with the time element to have the kitchen measures was not an oversight or lack of initiative on our part. The deal was simple. After weeks of deciding on the floor, (deleted member name) called to order the floor and wanted the floor ordered in advance so as to have it available when they needed it and it was understood that the space still needed to measure, and at that time the kitchen work had just begun and flooring wasn't going to be needed for several weeks, I already put a hold on the material with the mill, so there was no need for urgency. We also expecting that thier contractor needed time to remove the existing tile (as agreed) and we wanted to see the actual floor in which we were going to work on. Furthermore, I decided to have the actual installer go and take the measurements and assess the floor. Being that he is busy doing the work of installing floors its not easy to get away to measure a job (that’s why we have a dedicated estimator-its generally not the installers job). In this case it took a bit longer but certainly not cause for alarm. ASSESSING THE FLOOR: The (deleted member name) did not want to pay us for the rip-up and removal of the existing tile floor in an effort to save money. Ripping up a floor also requires the remedy of any issues or problems, which WE were not contracted to do. Ironically, when we went to measure... the tile floor was still not ripped up, so we were only able to measure and not offer any insight as to what corrective measures, if any, were going to be needed. (deleted member name) was asked by the Installer CALL US us as soon as the floor/tile was removed so we can come and take another look. . SHE DID NOT. PRICE. The floor the (deleted member name) chose was beyond their budget and in good faith, and as a valued previous customer we discounted the floor a great deal from $3568 to $3000 (being the estimate before measuring it) to get it around their budget. After we measured it we determined we needed 1 additional box. The actual order became $3086 (which should have been a $210 increase). How they are claiming that the extra square footage we weren't able to explain. Its math, we measure to determine how much floor we need to complete the job. We never offered a “we don't know why” it’s the measurement. That’s what we came up with and needed, using a random width product could require an additional waste to keep the pattern.. The floor they chose was an ANDERSON, engineered hand-scraped hickory in a RANDOM WIDTH that we agreed to install as a floating floor in an effort to compensate for the imperfections of a 200 year old floor. The (deleted member name) are fully aware that the price I gave them was outstanding and well below market value. The (deleted member name) had other choices but they chose this floor in part because what I was wiling to do for them on the price. The only increase they are making issue with is $86. From the original estimating to the price after measure was $86. $86 makes it now too much and over-priced? JOB: During Hurricane Sandy they were one of the few houses that had power and we went to do the installation during this time and when we arrived, the floor was in need a serious leveling which required 2 sheets of plywood and about 80 lbs of patch. Our contract, (which is the order) specifically states “Premier is NOT responsible for any unforeseen subfloor issues and repairs may be necessary AT AN ADDITIONAL CHARGE”. The (deleted member name) claim we included or I said we would install new plywood is false and incorrect. WE DID NOT. Not knowing the condition of the floor at the time the installers arrived, it wasn't not being prepared, it was not knowing that the contractor just took up the tile and left the floor and didn't fix or at least bring the problem to the customers attention. When the tile was removed (deleted member name) was supposed to call us, she did not and only called to schedule the job, which at that point they now had a time constrain. We met their time line (during the Hurricane event-with half the state in duress, the (deleted member name) were getting a new floor and aggravated that the installer needed to go get supplies). With 1 day delay for fixing the floor that WE DID NOT CHARGE THEM FOR. Zero money was asked of them, I simply told the installer to do what he needed to do...cause that is what we do at PREMIER. How anyone would complain about FREE is beyond us and very disheartening and when you go the extra mile, and extra expense to take care of something or someone and they still complain is also very discouraging. NOTE. At the time of scheduling, I said to (deleted member name) that I had a few boxes of left-over material that matches her floor and if she would like us to do the small hall entry from the garage we would do it…..FOR FREE. WE DID. Also NOTE: We NID NOT leave the job to do another job. The installer said to (deleted member name) that 1st day, we had another job to do...BUT we rescheduled that job and did hers. THE FLOOR: Not only was the floor not even but it was out of pitch. We understood from The (deleted member name) that the house is old and probably not even, that is why we recommended a floating floor. A floating floor will generally give us the flexibility to compensate for that but this floor was extreme. The extreme created a situation that if we attempt to level out the entile floor it would have created as much as 2” difference at the point meeting the other floors, so the installer floated the floors most sever and tapered the floor back down at the transition point. Even at that, all the moldings we ordered were now not going to work and we had to re-order all the moldings. (deleted member name) is making issue with the time frame of getting the new moldings, which is not within our control nor was it even supposed to be our responsibility to make these types of adjustments. Also (deleted member name) mention of waiting for the return of the installer to complete the moldings, we were ther 2 separate times to finish and with the changes (deleted member name) had his contractor make with a wall and at the transitions...we were not able to it. Not our shortcoming...we were there. MOVEMENT IN FLOOR. By the very nature of a floating floor, its design is to be resilient and flex, it is installed over an under-layment and not attached to the floor. It floats, and it is typical that at some points, especially over an uneven floor you may see some slight movement. Its not an installation or product defect or failure, its doing what its supposed to do. Now, with no disrespect indented or implied, but a simply truth that needs to be taken into account. (deleted member name) is above average in size and it would be possible and likely that when he moves across the floor it may move much more so should someone of average size walk on the same floor. Our installers returned to evaluate the movement and it did so very slight when they walked on it, but proceeded to do take corrective measures to satisfy the customer. So, on this day, the installers completed all that was asked of them, we presented the final bill along with the trims that were not included in the original order and the trim that we needed for the garage area that we did for free...that charge was $242. Mrs. Siano paid the bill and SIGNED our installation completion form, stating that installation is complete AND everything meets her satisfaction. That form, along with all notes, the order and contract are all on file able to be reviewed by any interested. SUMMARY: The (deleted member name) received a $4800+ job for $3328. The material we provided is one of the nicest you can buy, the installation was done with the same quality and commitment that we provided in their previous home…(that gave them the confidence to return to PREMIER for this floor.) Should the (deleted member name) write a review regarding their first floor and experience..than this alleged bad experience would essentially be negated and our reputation would be evaluated fairly. Based on the actual events of this project, it can easily be determined that while nothing is perfect in the world or with us, but the (deleted member name) have a great floor and received value, service and consideration I can almost promise they would not have received anywhere else. The (deleted member name) last remark, warning people to not shop with us is in itself shameful and a great disservice to Angie List members and the general public. I will assume that most people reviewing this will come to their own conclusion that the (deleted member name) may not have been 100% thrilled with the process but this vindictive, spiteful and even personal attack on me is certainly not warranted, just or fair.
