In 2019, much to my chagrin, I had a leaky 70 year old underground oil tank removed from my property. That part of the job was handled perfectly. Matt put together a stellar report to which I got an immediate response from NJ DEP that they could not process b/c there was no money in the fund. 5 years later, April 2024, my name came up, and the grant was approved "based on its technical merit." Matt was right there, helping me through my questions and reassuring me, since I was aware it could be a nightmare. Coreen gave me a date and explained what to expect, and true to her word, the team arrived right on schedule. Brad handled the machine and did an expert job excavating perfectly since it was so close to the house. Diane, the chemist, explained what the process is, and kept me informed throughout the day. Scott helped me schedule and remove another tank by my garage. Ben and Eric were on hand too. The team was efficient, professional, kind, and thorough, and wasted NO time, and took the utmost care to protect my property. This team is so skilled and experienced, I was completely reassured. It was completed in minimal time and according to budget. I could not have been in better hands, and I am incredibly relieved to have this all behind me! Thank you team Applied, I highly, highly recommend!

My husband called for an estimate for an oil tank removal installation, spoke with Scott he was very patient and professional he came quickly and explained everything in detail. We received estimate via email - Tank removal and tank removal with installation. We had 3 other estimates that were higher and not as thorough. They got all permits. They were really nice, polite, cleaned up very well “The whole crew was extremely nice and quick and friendly” The process was a breeze with them. We will recommend them to everyone!!! There were essentially four steps. First was the initial proposal after examination of the property. Excellent customer service. Questions were answered with professionalism, kindness, clarity and knowledge. Next step was signing the papers and the initial payment was made. Flawless... I was in the office and it was friendly and a nice environment. Third was the placement of the new, above-ground tank. The men were on site when they said to expect them, we did a walk about afterwards so the new tank/lines were familiarized and the shut off valve was noted. Lastly, the tank pull. Precision. It's amazing how the area was barely disturbed and a shrub was placed back in its original spot with such care. The kindness of that last step is appreciated (with an understanding that the evergreen might not stay healthy). A few other concerns were addressed right away with kindness, understanding and some humor.

Matt and Scott were outstanding to work with on this project. Our two phase project was an estate sale that had a 30+ year old in-ground oil tank that needed to be removed prior to closing on our house. We received four quotes for the job and Applied Service was the lowest quote but spent the most time with us prior to signing the first contract to remove and replace a tank. The new Roth Tank install and old tank went smoothly over a two-day period of time. The install of the new above ground tank took about 5 hours including recovering the existing oil from the tank and transferring the oil to the new tank. The guys worked non-stop and their workmanship was perfect. It took another 5-6 hours to pull the existing underground tank which leaked and to re-fill the hole. Unfortunately the dirt samples came back contaminated and then Matt had oversight of the phase two of the project and contract as it involved the dirt remediation project while Diane handled the dirt testing of the entire tank area when excavated. The dirt remediation took another 5-6 hours and over 30 tons of dirt were removed and tested and finally came within the required specified limits established by the DEP---and then they back-filled the hole with quality back-run dirt. You would have never known that they were ever there! It took approximately 4-6 weeks from the start of the project to receiving the "No Further Action" letter by the DEP. They are so familiar with these projects that it look effortless on their part. From the ladies in the main office, to Matt and Scott, to the guys in the field----all professional-timely and always true to their word---but most of all they were honest and upfront every step of the way. If you are looking for hassle-free service you have found the right company!

This was a two day process with new tank installation on the first day and the removal of the old tank on the second day. All the work was carried out very professionally. The contractor set up the tank removal inspection timing and there were no problems. The tank that was removed was very near the support leg of a deck and the contractor was careful to avoid disturbing it. The hole was filled in and the area cleaned up.
Description of Work: Installation of Roth 275 gallon tank indoors and removal of in the ground 550 gallon tank. The new indoor tank was to be installed and fill pipes to the outside of the house need to be run. Oil lines from new tank to the hot air furnace and hot water heater need to be run from new location of the tank. Oil needed to be transferred from the old tank to the new and both furnaces needed to be checked. The old tank needed to be dug up, inspected for leaks and removed. The hole had to be filled in.

I am VERY pleased with the professionalism and diligence of Allied Services. Their workers were very polite and explained everything that was going to happen. Other than a bare spot on the lawn, you cannot tell they were even there.
Description of Work: I contacted Allied Services to remove an underground oil tank. Their rep. responded very quickly to my inquiry and came to the house the next day. He also took the time to locate and mark-out the tank location. I received a very fair price quote the next day. The removal was scheduled about 3 weeks in advance and arranged for the utiility mark-outs A week before they called and left me a detailed voicemail confirming the work to be done and scheduled arrival time. Today they arrived on time and ready to work. The two workers were very diligent digging the soil to avoid drainage pipes and the gas line, which played right across the top of the tank. Because of that they had to cut the tank in two pieces to remove it. Since they had all the right equipment on hand, the removal went very well. The building inspector came and signed off on the removal. The workers then backfilled the hole and raked the soil. The removal took four hours start to finish.

From initial contact to the removal of the tank, Applied Service was top notch! I had reached out to a few other companies prior to meeting with Walter and none were as knowledgeable/thorough. Having an oil tank removed can be a daunting task for homeowners but not with Applied. They said what they were going to do and did what they said. After the initial meeting at our house on a Friday, we were told we would be scheduled on Monday and to expect the removal date to be in about 3 weeks. We were scheduled on that Monday for 3 weeks later and were told that we would be reminded a week prior to the removal date. A week prior to the removal date we got the reminder and were told the crew would show up between 9-10 am. Come removal day, the crew showed up between 9-10 am. They were professional and worked very well (and clean). Thankfully our tank did not have any leaks and that was it for us as far as dealing with an oil tank. However, had the tank leaked and we had contamination, I have no doubt that Applied would have done a great job with soil remediation just as they did with the removal of the tank. Highly recommended!

I contacted three contractors for an estimate for this job and Applied Service was the middle quote amount. They came out and were very friendly and said they had a lot of experience installing the Roth tanks. Their web site was also very informative and they received good reviews there and on Angie's list. I picked them for the installation for all those reasons. They emailed me before the date of the appointment for installation and explained the additional costs needed for the town inspection. They also called me the day before the install to make sure everything was still on schedule. On the day of the installation, they arrived on time and spent approximately 5 hours installing the new tank, reconnecting it to the furnace, adding a tiger loop aeration system, transferring the oil from the old tank to the new one and cutting up the old tank and cleaning the inside. They made sure the furnace was back up and running at the end of the tank install. They also installed 2 bollards in the garage in front of the tank to protect it from potential vehicle damage. Finally, they cleaned up after themselves. I was watching them the entire time and asking questions and they were very friendly and answered all my questions. They worked in close to freezing conditions outside and in the garage, with some snow on the ground. They offered to provide some protection for my carpet in the basement, as they were walking back and forth, but I already put some down myself so it was not necessary. The next day the town inspector showed up (as promised) and approved the installation and the old tank cleanup. I then emailed them a copy of the permits as they instructed me to speed up the removal of the old tank. One week later they showed up and removed the old tank, also as promised. Overall, it was a very positive experience. They were friendly and professional and met all my expectations. I would recommend their services to anyone who needs this sort of service.

Member, thank you for the review and for sharing your experience with Applied Service. It gives other members a chance to see how the process of an oil tank replacement works, as well as the attention to detail that our crews take to complete the job the right way, the safe way. We're also glad you noted that our crews came out in cold, wintery weather. Many people assume this type of work cannot be completed during the winter months, but here at Applied Service we are ready, willing, and very capable of handling all of your oil tank needs, no matter what time of year. In fact, since you also mentioned our website, we have some great photos showing an emergency response in some rather chilly surroundings. Thank you again for taking the time to give us such a nice review, and be sure to let us know if you ever need our services again in the future.

Allied Services came promptly for an estimate and explained all of our options detail. Received estimates via email right away. All aspects of the project were thoroughly detailed. We decided to get the large underground tank removed and two new smaller tanks installed in the basement. They obtained the permits and coordinated the inspection. Permit fees are not included in the estimate. The work was done in 2 days. First day, new tanks were installed and leftover oil was transferred from the old tank. Second day, the underground tank was removed. Everything was done very timely and professionally. We did have to wait almost 2 months to schedule, but Allied came when they said they would and it was worth the wait.

The workers were very professional... The front office was, however, a disappointment... They refused to honor the Angie's List 5% coupon... Said they have a policy that they should have been told that a coupon was involved before they began to work... This was never mentioned verbally or written on the coupon... I would hesitate to recommend this company for fear of what other front office pricing surprises may await other customers.

As we had previously discussed, we had already offered you a discount in combination with previous work at your site, and unfortunately we can only apply one discount to each customer. We have made sure Angie's List has revised the coupon so the information is clear and upfront for all of our customers, and we thank you for bringing it to our attention that the information hadn't been clear to begin with. While you weren't happy with the payment situation, we are glad to hear that the crew who performed the work did a great job. These guys were great to deal with. They removed my underground oil tank that was located underneath my front walkway. They put it back straight!!! I would highly recommend this company to anyone and in fact, I have.

Originally decided to go with Applied Tank Services to remove an underground decommissioned oil tank due to sale of home. Applied was very busy and backed up with work (as a reputable company should be). So we went with a more expensive company that could fit us in. It has been a nightmare so far in terms of getting a response and having them to complete their contractual agreements. We should have stuck with Applied. Scott and Coreen were very helpful, courteous, and informative. It's our mistake for not choosing the better company and it is costing us. In the end we may end up calling them back to finish the other company's work.

Very professional, responsive for doing quote. Explained everything thoroughly. Really wanted to proceed to use this supplier for work, but earliest date was almost 3 months out before could come and do the work. Chose to go with another provider who was also through and could accommodate an earlier date. Would strongly recommend, but be prepared to wait to get work done. The responsiveness was the only place I could reflect how quickly they could actually schedule to do work. It does not reflect responsiveness in arranging a quote, or responding to questions or emails. Very professional. Stood out in comparison to another place in terms of thinking through where it could be placed, and which system to use, etc.

As explained above, it was a long process but done properly and with great care and professionalism for my property.
Description of Work: Removed an old underground oil tank that had been empty since 1982. Unfortunately, the tank had a hole in it and leaked oil into the sub soil. It took one year of excavating, removing old soil and monitoring for any remaining oil. With each visit, they were neat, courteous, on-time and professional. They were instrumental in dealing with my insurance company which paid for the entire remediation at a tremendous savings to me. In the end, they came back with new top soil and grass seed and what is now a new lawn. I would not hesitate to recommend this firm to anyone who needs to remove old oil tanks.

Thank you for your review member! We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. We take great pride in the work we do, so we're very happy to hear how satisfied you are with the outcome. We like to leave your site looking just like it did before we arrived for the first time. Unfortunately with a leaking oil tank, depending on the extent of the leak, the cleanup process can sometimes be a lengthy one (luckily not always). But no matter how long it takes to get things resolved, we are here to help and guide homeowners in the right direction, and do everything we can for them during the process. We're glad to hear everything went smoothly at your site, and please don't hesitate to contact us if you ever need our services in the future.

This was a very stressful situation since my Proguard insurance would only cover this if damage was found on the tank. Also, the tank was located on the edge of my property flanked by my neighbor's driveway and only four feet of pavement next to my house. They had to remove the shrubbery in the front and navigate the heavy steam shovel on a narrow strip and then back out to put the dirt in the dump truck. They accomplished this with no damage to the neighbor's property or my sidewalk. To accomplish this they cut the tank in half while it was in the ground so that it could be removed without damaging the surrounding concrete and asphalt If I want to quibble, the placement of the shrubs in front was a little off, but that's pretty minor. The entire process took place on several different occasions and scheduling with me as well as two insurance companies was excellent. While much of this was covered by insurance, Applied's pricing was closest to the amount that was covered and they did not charge me for the oil transfer or second trip. Other quotes I received had listed charges for this service.
Description of Work: Installed 275 gal Roth tank in the basement, Transferred oil from 1000 gal underground storage tank (UST) to new tank and excess to 55 gal drums, removed UST, provided soil samples. Performed remediation of contaminated soil. Returned shrubs, seeded grassed area and returned in the winter to put the oil from the drums in the tank after I used what was in the tank.

They removed an underground oil tank and replaced it, and also included an external storage tank. They did an excellent job. They were professional, neat, on time and scheduling was easy. All the way around a pleasure dealing with them. They also had the best price of the companies I talked to. A few months later when I needed new oil, they came right out to replaced it and took away the container at no charge.
Description of Work: Pulled oil tank and installed a new one.
