I called a few people on the Internet and Hartmans returned my call first. his wife took all the information and then asked me if I could call back in the morning. I asked why? Since I already gave her the information needed. She complained a bit about how busy her husband was and she was etc.? I found that strangeand should have known better. The following day, I received a call from his wife stating that she was in the area and could be here and half an hour. An elderly couple showed up and they seemed friendly enough. The gentleman had an extremely large girth which got in the way of his looking into my stovetop. He took a chair sat down in front of it and started examining my stove. he started immediately chatting with me about my stove and it's condition. Throwing stove top jargon at me. Although I am very interested at the end of the assessment as to what I'm paying for I don't like wasting too much time hearing about parts which I do not understand.i'm a mother of seven with one disabled child and, I was very busy. What I found extremely strange, was his reprimanding his wife for not standing there helping him dismantle the stove top, something my seven-year-old can do alone. When all was said and done, he gave me a bill for $300. He said that would be a deposit for the work. I asked him how much it would be for the visit and he said 189. When I told him nobody informed me of the price on the phone, he got flustered and somewhat aggressive which was a bit frightening. I asked him if The assessment fee would be deducted from the total bill, as many companies do, and he said no. When I started to write the check he told me there was tax and the total was $204. I gave him a check which was a mistake. I will never ever hire somebody without a personal or online review again. It was a nightmare

The Hartman's (man and wife team) arrived on time and explained what had happened and what was needed. Parts had to be ordered so they made a follow up appointment and completed the work. Everything is working like new and I have absolutely nothing to complain about.

He is a local guy and does the whole area around here. He just does appliances and he does regular appliance business. I have used him several times. I spent about $200 for the last service. It didn't take long when he last came out. He knows what he is doing. He generally has parts on his truck that he needs. If he doesn't, then he will get them and come back the next day. He can usually fix with what he has got. The last job didn't take him more than half an hour. He is not the cheapest guy and he charges $75 a visit just to come out. Then he charges by the hour plus the parts. It's worth the money for me because I know he is going to fix it. If it can be fixed, he will fix it. If it can't be fixed, he will not fix it.
Description of Work: Hartman's Independent Appliance Repair fixed my dryer by replacing a part last week since it was making a lot of noise.
