Pegasus prepared a written estimate very quickly. I had already designed the kitchen and made a very detailed work order, and though suggestions were made as to how best do the job, I wasn't pushed into changing anything of my original vision (other contractors had seemed to think they knew more about what I wanted that what I did). Once I agreed to the terms (negotiating the price down a bit -- though he was the most expensive of my other bids, I was most confident in him), he added my coop and myself to his insurance and sent over a contract via email. Work commenced within two weeks. David, the owner, was always on site when needed -- at the beginning of the job, as well as each day as necessary, especially as each new phase of construction began. He would often stop by in the evening when I was home (always calling first) to check on the status of the job and to make sure I was happy and apprised of the progress as well. In a 1936 building, there will always be surprises once you start opening walls, etc, but each phase was negotiated in a very fair manner (for example, we discovered some nasty plumbing inside a wall -- of course he couldn't have known about this initially, and a new mini-contract was made to cover the new parts and labour). My only complaint in the beginning was that he would sometimes promise to come at a certain hour then come a few hours later due to traffic, other jobs, etc. Once I asked him to please just call me with updates if he'd be late I'd be very appreciative. I can understand that things take longer than expected, but I don't want to be needlessly waiting. Furthermore, there were two evenings when he and his crew stayed late to get some things done (ie plastering so it could dry overnight or getting the sink completely finished as opposed to leaving me without it overnight).
Description of Work: Complete Kitchen Remodel. Moved and installed a dozen light switches, added new lines for fridge, GFIC outlets, dishwasher, etc. Installed range hood, dishwasher, new sink and moved gas line for a new range. Installed new tile floor and did new drywall construction - including a graceful arch to match the existing architecture - and repaired plaster and lathe. Painted all when finished. The cabinetry is IKEA Abstrakt White, and wasn't installed by Pegagus, but rather Traemand, the certified IKEA installer. The countertops are white marble from All Granite and Marble in NJ. Pegasus did the final finishing -- plumbing and electrical installation.

Overall the owner of the company was professional as it pertained to having his crew here on time as well as trying to take care of the problems that I am about to describe but in the end this was the reno from hell. First issue was when the demolition started. i explained to the crew that they had to seal off the hallway and my son's room to minimize the dust since my son has allergies. came home and their was dust everywhere!! they did get a cleaning lady to come in to clean but continued to have this issue. Demo and initial construction was ok, but I felt like I was constantly telling them that they were doing something wrong and these were things that I shouldn't have been telling them. these are things that the homeowner shouldn't be telling them about, I mean, they are supposed to be the experts here! they punctured a pipe in the floor which led to a flood downstairs which when we ran to tell them, to turn off the water, it was as if we interrupted their lunch hour!!! the biggest issue was with the tile work on the floor, they had to tear up the floor from the initial job because they couldn't level the floor. told me that I had to go with a 12 x 12 tile cause the basket weave pattern that I gave them was going to be impossible to level. I made them pick up the cost for the new tile. Had to have them come back multiple times to deal with fixing a sheet rock issue in the ceiling. You could see a seam across the ceiling where they didn't tape correctly. once we finally had them come back for all these little incidentals, my wife decides to take a bath and I come downstairs and the water is pouring through my kitchen ceiling. Seems that they put the wrong type of drain vale. They did come in and fix the ceiling, that job itself was sub par. Now that the winter is here, turns out that the heating was done incorrectly. We had a cast iron radiator which was moved to an outside wall, instead of using that, I wanted a base board system for space. Bottom line is I am getting no heat. Turns out that they should have known that you can't mix baseboard heating when the rest of the house is cast iron radiators due to the rate of heating and cooling. Not to mention the types of values they put on are incorrect. Not able to bleed the system w/ the way they installed it. Needless to say I would NEVER consider this company again. Yes the price was good, but another example of getting what you pay for. At this point I now have to lay out more money to fix the heating problem that was due to their lack of knowledge and craftsmanship. I am only given a certain amount of space to write here, if I had more i could go into further specific details on where this company lacked skill and common sense! Hopefully this is a case of live and learn....

These guys were professional and thorough from start to finish. They consulted me on my vision for a brand new kitchen, set my expectations and then exceeded them! I had an old wall seperating my kitchen from my living room. Now I have a modern kitchen countertop/bar area and my space has been completely transformed. They even added base cabinets to the kitchen side for more storage. I can't say enough good things about this company. I will definitely consult them again for my future home improvements. It's hard to find a dependable and competent contractor nowadays. Thankfully for me, I found Pegasus Contracting. Give them a try for your next project, you won't be disappointed!
Description of Work: Installed a kitchen countertop island with base cabinets, drop down pendant lighting as well as lit open side cabinets. I had an old, useless wall dividing my kitchen and living room which I have wanted to remove for years. These guys tore down the majority of the old wall and reinforced its base with wooden beams. They also re-routed all the electrical to a neat wall outlet with dimmer which now controls my kitchen lighting, the pendant lights over my countertop as well as the puck lighting on the open side cabinets. They addressed all the incidentals and even did a great paint job. They also assisted with the trash removal.
