Scheduled estimate Mike came out and listened to what we wanted made suggestions and provided an estimate. the entire house 2 story's + basement needed to be rewired and brought to code. Showed up on planned day working for a week, finished on time and on budget. He and his brother (and a helper a day here and there) were professional and were very careful not to damage anything in our 1905 home. He did what he said out to do making very small holes to run the wires from basement panel to every room in the house including outside front/back. Also installed electric in 2 areas that never had power. Not only did they do everything on the estimated list they also installed electric smoke detectors in key locations. They also were patient when we changed our minds on locations of outlets, 2switch vs. 3switch etc. I am very happy with the work done, and highly recommend them. We are redoing our bathroom next year and the kitchen shortly after, we WILL have them back to do more work. GREAT COMPANY, GREAT COUPLE OF GUYS!!
Description of Work: Rewired entire 2 story house, updating the last 3 generations of wires including the original knob and tube.

Mike promptly showed up at 7:30am, and hard-wired my new stove. Mike's a true professional. He's responsive, on-time and he saved me from having to reschedule the granite contractor, and holding up the construction. Mike also responded to me on a Sunday and did the work the very next morning. I thought the price was fair, especially since it was a service call last-minute. I'd highly recommend him, and will be recommending Mike to the other owners in our building (Hamilton Park, Jersey City) for all electrical needs.
Description of Work: I purchased a new stove, thinking that when it was delivered on Friday, 10/10, I'd just plug it in and go.. I'm renovating my kitchen and the stove needed to be in its place by Monday, 10/13, as my granite contractor is coming 10/13 in the afternoon to create the granite countertop templates. However, when Home Depot delivered the stove, they couldn't place it in its spot, because my old stove was hard-wired vs. a 220 volt plug. I called Mike Malfettone on Sunday 10/12 (because Angie's list listed weekend hours), and Mike promptly called me back. He was in the area and stopped in Sunday and said he could hard wire the new stove on Monday 10/13 at 7:30am, in time for the granite contractor. Mike hard-wired the new stove for me.

Mike is always punctual (this is the second time I've called him for electric work after finding him on Angie's list). He always cleans up after himself after finishing the work. He's easy to talk to and easy to work with. He's accommodating with your schedule and overall I'd highly recommend him.

I contacted Mike through Angie's List email. He responded immediately and we set a date for him to come and evaluate the job. We exchanged contact info and on the appointed day, he sent me text message confirming appointment and arrived on time. He listened carefully to my requests (which included purchasing replacement smoke/carbon monoxide/heat detectors as well as bulbs for the microwave oven) and the following day supplied me with an estimate for the job (which I approved). We scheduled a date for the job and he was in contact with me the day of regarding the timing. Shortly before the scheduled time, Mike sent me a text to let me know his man (Angelo) was on the way. Angelo arrived and set to work immediately, replacing the old detectors with the new (and testing all batteries, etc.) as he did so. He figured out why our under counter lighting was not working and checked the outlets in question. Angelo was a total professional - very pleasant and polite (even when he had to install a heat detector in a VERY tight place). Mike himself came to replace the microwave bulbs which he purchased -- and even bought an extra set for future. I am very pleased with the service I received and highly recommend Mike Malfetonne Electric

Mike's brother cane to do the installation. They were extremely efficient, professional, and nice. More so they were willing to explain the ins and outs of the job and patiently answered all of the numerous questions I had. The work looks great and I will be using then again for replacing some current fixtures that need updating. Look no further for an electrician.

Mike and his crew first came to install Ethernet throughout our new condo and fix a wiring-panel issue identified during our home-inspection. They did a good job so we asked them to come out a second time for more electrical work. Price is fair. I always under-estimate the cost of electrical work in my head. $1300 for all of the above seemed high to me at first, but it was 3 full man-days worth of work, and they did a great job. I would agree with the average "B" rating for responsiveness. Both times I have had to follow up a couple times to get the exact day/time nailed down. Not a big deal. Once confirmed he's always been on-time and never had to reschedule. This is just a minor point in an overall very positive experience.
Description of Work: Installed 3 Ethernet and coax outlets, 4 electrical outlets, 2 overhead lights, wired for a garbage disposal, and fixed a wiring panel issue.

The light install went smoothly and looks good, however the light switch must have a poor connection as it constantly turns off. I have tried to call Mike several times to come back but have yet to hear back from him. UPDATE - connected with Mike after reaching out again and he prompty responded and came back to fix the issue and it has been working great since. We agreed the few unreturned calls were probably a fluke. Will definitely continue to seek Mike's services as he is very knowledgeable, prices are decent, and will not try to upsell any uneccesary services.

I called him on Friday and left a message. He called me back on Wednesday and left a message with his cell phone number. I reached him on his cell phone. He tried to come the same day but had to postpone it because he was so busy. He came on Thursday afternoon/evening and we discussed the work that needed to be done. Remove two ceiling fixtures and cover the holes with a plate, move one of the ceiling fixtures about 5ft to the left so that it would be in the middle over our dining room table. He also looked at the situation in our garage where our condo association would like to have outlets installed. He could not give me an answer on how this could be done (We wanted the outlets connected to the individual meters) but made (unsuccessfully) a phone call to find out and said he would further look into it. He said he would try to send a written estimate the same night and I should send him reminders if I did not receive the estimate. After several reminder texts, he e-mailed me the estimate at 2pm on Friday (12/13). He wanted $350 for the job. This was a job that needed very little material, just about an hour of labor (The electrician whom I finally hired worked for 65minutes). I sent him an e-mail and offered $250. He replied with one sentence "I sent the price." I e-mailed him back "What does that mean?" He explained that he had given us a good price based on the quality of his work. I had expected to get a counter offer (maybe $300) but he would not negotiate. I ended up hiring Angelo Palladino (Monroe Electric) who did a great job for $100. Mike Malfettone obviously has no lack of self-confidence and he seems to have enough work to do as it is. He did not need our business.

It was great. his employee showed up promptly, took a look at what the problem was with the original fixture, and determined that the remote control had shorted. I was swapping out the fixture anyway, so he removed the old (and heavy!!) fan and put up the new one securing it within the ceiling - (the other had not been!). Also, before installing it,I told him I wanted the same set up with a wireless remote to switch the fan and light on separately, and the electrician drove over to Lowe's to get the part! The whole thing was done professionally and I am really pleased with the work and outcome.

NOT GOOD once the project was finished.
Description of Work: I had a halogen light strip blow out in Dec 2012. First I was told it was the transistor ballast by Mike, so I bought a new one. Then it ended up not working, so I bought a whole new light. The new light was purchased through this electricians contact. The light took over a month to come in when I should have just bought it myself from Home Depot, but I thought it better to go through the electrician. He was also supposed to install dimmers for these lights. After waiting so long he realized I was vey upset so he waived his installation fee. Long story short, the light was finally installed (Feb 2013) on a project that started in Dec 2012. The lights worked for about two months and now all of the light strips under my cabinets have blown out. There was a hissing sound coming from the lights once the dimmer was installed, I was told this is completely normal. I then tried to contact Mike again in the coming weeks after the installation and he kept telling me he would come back to do other installations, but never did. So, I gave up. Now all of my lights are blown and I have to find another electrician to hopefully do the project right that Mike fixed the first time. I find it horrible that I have to use another electrician for an issue that he may have started. And all five lights strips are blown out now, which could cost me $100/light if I need to replace them all. He was very nice when he was installing, then once the project was done he didn't stand behind his work.

Mike, and his brother, did a fantastic job - they were careful and clean, worked fast and were just pleasant all around. Mike arrived first, about 20 minutes earlier than the time we had agreed on which was better for me (texted me: I'm here, ready whenever you are). He helped move things out of the way and was very patient with me when we were deciding on the exact location of where I wanted the lights - he asked questions to make the best recommendations. His brother came by around noon to help speed up the job and they were done with everything (installation, patching up holes, clean up and all) by mid-afternoon (I want to say 2:30/3pm). I understand why some reviewers are commenting on how the Malfettone Electric business doesn't respond quickly - but the answer is that they're just THAT busy. The first time I called, I didn't get a reply either, but gave it another try a month later and Mike called me back, we set an appointment for an estimate visit, I asked a few questions and when I felt comfortable, we agreed on the job. I'm very glad that I called them a second time! I'll give them somewhere between B+ and A- for responsiveness since yes, it might be tough to get a hold of them at first - they're usually on the job. But OVERALL, Mike was responsive to all my messages (email/text/voicemail) once we made the first contact. My recommendation - if you don't get a return call right away, try again! Yes, I'd recommend based on this one experience and yes, if I had any other electrical needs in the future, I will call Mike.
Description of Work: We wanted to have our hanging lamps removed and install recessed lights, move around some wiring, change old switches to cool new dimmers and get rid of non-functioning outlets/switches. Where other electricians said it was not possible - Mike did it! They also identified a problem with an outlet and fixed it for us.

I called the company during the weekend and left a message. They promptly called me back on Monday to schedule an estimate to be performed on Monday night. I let him know I needed someone to come in that week before a tenant moves in that weekend. He got my email and cell phone number and said would call me the next day with an estimate and his firm up the date. He indicated that he should be able to come in Wed or Thursday and should not be a problem. He called me back the next day around noon and left a message. I had tried calling Mike several times throughout the day afterwards but never picked up the phone - I left a message. He finally texts me an estimate at 10:30 pm - but was very vague on what that included and when he could come. We text back and forth, (I tried calling him but he didn't pick up the phone, but would respond via text immediately) and he agrees to come on Wed Afternoon/Night to do the service. He wouldn't give a specific time but I understood he was putting me after another job he had that day. On Wed he sends me a text around 2:00 pm that he cannot come due to another scheduled job taking longer than expected. I ask if he is still coming on Thursday then - he responds with no. So bottom line - I couldn't rate his service. He was professional and sounded like he knew what he was doing when he came for the estimate. Price was reasonable. But was very poor in communication. We have a total of 24 text messages back and forth because he would not pick up the phone, and I ended up having to beg another electrical company to come out on 1 days notice.

I called and spoke to Mike. He scheduled the appointment very quickly and at a mutually convenient time. They showed up on schedule, appraised the job and provided an estimate within one business day. Due to my time constraints for insurance requirements, Mike was accommodating and bumped up my job to an early date. Mike and his team came on schedule and completed the job. They did an excellent job and followed up to make sure I was satisfied. After the job, Mike cleaned up the work areas even though I insisted that I would do it. Very professional team, great service and fair pricing. I would definitely use them again and recommend to family and friends.

It didn't go at all. I was going to write a review and explain the whole sad story but really, it was my own fault for not moving right along when I got the initial, hesitant signals from the owner of this company. When it doesn't seem right, it most likely is not right, and you should just keep on going.
