Lou, and his team was beyond excellent. I worked with another plumbing company in the past and the work was awful. Lou was so courteous, attentive and on time with every details. Because I do not live in the house he sent me pictures of the entire job both times step by step! I was so excited to work with someone like Lou. He stay in constant communication with me which was a blessing. He explained everything to me so that I understood what they would be doing. Once the job was complete they cleaned the basement. I am so happy to have found Lou I will definitely be working with him on maintenance! Whenever I have a plumbing job or anyone ask me Lou Guarini is who I would call!

Lou and his sons couldn't be nicer. They were beyond responsive and professional. Lou took pictures of everything so he could remember everything I talked about. They fixed everything in a quick manner and did an amazing job. Most of this work had to be done quick so that a tenant could move into our upstairs unit. Lou Guarini is very skilled and experienced working with conditions in older buildings like ours and his sons have been learning the ropes (or should I say "pipes") from him. I initially contacted Lou Guarini Plumbing and Heating at jerseycityplumbers.com via a web search--not via Angie's List---after a couple of Angie's List contacts did not pan out for one reason or another. My email inquiry to Lou included whether he'd be willing/able to deal with the problematic logistics of being in a 50-unit building where the water has to be turned off/coordinated with super for the whole building when work is being done in just one apartment. Lou indicated no prob, that he could work with that and requested that I send him digital photos of the current state if our bathrooms, which I did. He came over at earliest mutual opportunity to see in person what needed to be done and he measured and took down info in order to produce a free estimate. When the estimate didn't come as soon as I thought it would, I contacted him to follow up, and he graciously replied that one would be forthcoming in the next couple of days, which it was. Once I agreed to the terms of the estimate/contract, work began and continued as our mutual availability permitted. Communication was excellent and consistent with not only me but with our super. The conditions of our building and the X-factors of what "lay behind the walls" turned out to be generally best-case-scenario with the exception of literally "hitting a brick wall" during the installation of pipe adjustments for the second shower kit. This happened on a morning when Lou's sons were working in second bathroom, executing what had been already done in the other bathroom. Lou, for the first time, was not there that morning. But when this weirdly located brick inner wall thing happened, Brian and Kevin called Lou to describe the challenge that had arisen, and Lou came over ASAP to assess. Even the super was stymied by the presence of bricks where they were discovered behind the shower pipe wall. Lou made the judgement call to end work that day and return at next earliest opportunity at which time Lou performed a more specialized procedure (his sons assisting and watching) which allowed for shower #2 pipe work to be done without having to break/break through any more tiles/wall than necessary. When I noticed that the shower kit fixtures which had been installed looked different from the photos I'd been sent, they hunted down the one in the photo and came back to show me the difference and give me the option of reinstalling; I'd also noticed a weird click in one of the new toilet flush handles and Brian and Kevin adjusted a washer to fix it. The job was completed in a thorough and efficient manner in about 5 visits btwn 10/30-11/12/13 (including the below-mentioned brick wall incident) plus a brief follow up on 11/26/13 with the alternate shower head delivery and toilet handle adjustment, all done at the cost estimate provided to me on the contract. Payment (credit cards accepted, btw) was in three phases: 1) 30% at contract agreement; 2) 40% upon completion of toilets/sinks installation and 3) 30% upon completion of shower work. I don't know for sure what others would have charged since none of my other inquiries panned out. Yes it was a chunk of change which has majorly depleted my savings, but this bathroom work was waaaaaaaay overdue and absolutely needed to be done (one of the bathrooms has been non-functioning for at least two years : (. I can't imagine a more capable, communicative, skilled, friendly, trustworthy, efficient professional team and leader to have gotten this job done. Highly recommended.

They are reliable and I will use them again in the future.

It was a bit expensive. A week later there was a problem with the water heater and they gave me another quote for that. It was a small part and I fixed it myself.
