I love Direct TV; I just don't like the price. The price has gone up a little bit. I have been with them for probably ten years. Their customer service is really good. Cable has been down more than satellite TV because of weather conditions. If it's installed correctly, you shouldn't have problems with satellite service.

They have a huge selection, and it very seldom goes out on you. I haven't had to deal with them very much. Their price is decent. They are professional, and respond right away. I'll keep using them in the future.

The installer they sent had every excuse in the book why he couldn't run the cable in our attic. When we called for the service, we were told it would not be a problem to have the dish move from the front of the house to the back of the house so the cable would no longer hang down our front porch. We had a new roof installed and the roofing company took down the dish for us so all the intaller had to do was to mount the dish and pull the cable 20 feet to the back of the house. He stated he didn't want to go in the attic and was going to run the wire across our roof. Well, that is out of the question. Then he wanted to look in the attic but said he couldn't because he didn't have a ladder. We gave him one. Then he couldn't see and he didn't have a flashlight. So, we gave him that too. Then he said he had to call a supervisor. Finally, after 15 more min. one showed up. Then came the complaint of our insulation. After explaining that it was not asbestos, that the insulation was installed late 80's . Then the excuse was that the section he had to climb in was to small. Really ? Then it was it is to hot and a safety hazard. I really don't know why this guy was an installer when he doesn't want to climb in attics. The supervisor with Direct TV really didn't help us at all. So, after having Direct TV service for almost 14 years, we cancelled our service. What good is paying for service if you can't get the dish installed from what they called a "professional installer". I guess they really don't care about losing a long time customers because of poor customer service and contractors who don't want to do what they are hired for. We were also charged $50 up front for the relocation, but when we called for a refund the girl insisted that we weren't charged because we had insurance that covers the service we wanted. After giving her the conformation number Amex, she apologized and stated that we would should not have been charged. Basically, if we didn't have a problem, they would have screwed us $50 and we wouldn't have known it !

My complaint regarding Direct TV is not about its television service or quality. As far as TV goes, I was pleased. However, I was led to believe that the bundled services were high speed internet and voip. This was supposed to be provided by Verizon. (See my report on Verizon). When I called Direct TV to tell them about the trouble I had with Verizon's services, I was told that my problem was with Verizon even though I had made the deal with Direct. I was also informed that cancellation of my service would cost me more than $400.00! I had had the service for a week while I gave Verizon a chance to do as they were contracted to do. Fortunately, Optimum Online told me that because of a local promotion, they would cover the cancellation fee if I switched services, and so I did. I really believe that Direct TV owes its potential customers accurate information about the level of services provided in their bundle. It has come to my attention that Verizon's wiring and internet services in this development are seriously below par because of outdated outside plant that has not been rehabilitated since sometime in the 70's. Had I known that situation, I would never have subscribed.
