Description of Work: The screws in the deadbolt in my apartment door had come loose and no amount of trying to screw them back in myself was making any difference, so I needed a locksmith to install wider screws that would stay put.

Description of Work: Rich replaced the deadbolt lock on the front door of our brownstone (the main door that leads outside).

Description of Work: I went to Catanio Lock Co. to get an estimate for picking a locked door inside our bathroom which had accidentally locked. It contained the boiler, the tsung pump and some of our belongings that we stored in there. I feared about spending $100 or more to pick open a locked door which locked on its own. Fortunately, the guy at Catanio was extremely helpful. He told me about a couple of ways I could try opening it myself and also gave me a cut-out of a plastic thing which might help. He said if nothing works, I should call him and he'll take $85 for his service. I went back home and tried the plastic cut-out he gave to insert between the door and the frame at the area of the lock. I struggled with it for about 20 mins but just when I was about to give up, the door unlocked with of course the help of the plastic. I was so relieved that I called the guy to thank him for the wonderful tip he gave as well as the plastic cut-out. Wish all companies were like this....I'd recommend them anytime.

Description of Work: We replaced all the locks in our new house. I called up 3-4 different locksmiths for an estimate, but I decided to go with Rich because he was local (and I like to support my neighborhood as much as I can), and because he sounded like a nice, decent man. The locksmiths I called quoted more or less the same. Rich charged $85 for service (i.e., just coming to your house) and $12/lock to change the barrel, that is, not new locks, just resetting the existing locks to a new key. Rich does not accept credit cards, but accepts checks if you don't have enough cash on you.
