Description of Work: The work was great, however he screwed the drywall to my pocket door now the pocket door doesn't function. If he truly was a professional he should have investigated and found the pocket door. The drywall work was very good, but would give him an "F" because we either have to take the drywall down or put up a sliding barn door, which is around $300 plus.

Description of Work: Bestwall Plastering did such a great job on repairing my open ceilings until I could not remember where the openings were. They also repaired my deck to which my town inspected and said they did a great job. I am grateful for their punctuality, professionalism, and fair pricing. Bestwall Plastering even repaired the molding on my walls. They did an excellent job and they completed everything in one day. I cannot stop praising God for this company and telling everyone I know what a great job they did in my home.

Description of Work: Bestwall Plastering repaired a plaster ceiling that had sustained water damage and plastered a ceiling in a bathroom that had been remodeled. These gentlemen are very knowledgeable about their craft, professional, and exceedingly careful of the environment in which they work. I would not hesitate to recommend this company. (Of note, if you are in need of plaster restoration in an historical home/building, do consider this company.)

$75 is reasonable for a service professional to estimate and assess the scope of work. You are paying for there expertise and time and we will continue to do so. We are old school plaster artisans which are very difficult. to find today Please read the many excellent reviews we have from actual clients that we have performed work for. No work was performed. I received a quote from Kieran for this job in November 2012. Because of circumstances beyond my control, I was not able to hire him to do the job until April 2013, but he honored his original quote. There is a charge for him to come and give you a quote, but that is deducted from the bill (I had to remind him about that) if you hire him. He gave me quotes for doing the wall in a traditional plater system and a sheetrock system. He thoroughly explained the difference and the pros and cons of both. He invites questions and is eager to explain his work. He showed up on time every time (the job took several days). He was always easy to get in touch with. He left my home reasonably neat. The work turned out very nice. I am happy with his work and would recommend him.

Our consultation fee is reasonable for a professional to estimate the cost of the job. This fee is deducted from the cost of the work. 99% of our clients do not have a problem with this as they are serious about getting the job done. This helps to eliminate time wasters and window shoppers and we will continue to do so.

After getting a few quotes, many turned out to be guys who wanted to tape and spackle the wall, rather than plaster it. I wanted the wall re-plastered, like the rest of the house. It cost a little more, but Kieran was worth it. The process he used involved no sanding and the wall is smooth and perfect. He is truly an artist and takes pride in every job, even a simple wall. I only wish the rest of my walls looked this good now!
Description of Work: I removed 3 large mirrors from a wall, which pulled the plaster down. I had cleaned up the loose pieces and had the wall re-plastered.

We found this firm on Angie's list after the one section fell. We set up an appointment and Kieren was prompt and reassuring. He explained how the areas would be repaired and replastered, gave us a very reasonable quote and set a date to do the work. It was postponed because of the hurricane and loss of power, but he responded as soon as our power was restored, a relief since a second section was bulging even more. The work was completed by midday and looks like new.
Description of Work: Sections of the living room ceiling were buckling and one had fallen. Kieren replaced three larger sections and repaired a couple of smaller areas, saying it was not necessary to replace the whole ceiling.

The walls and ceiling in my formal dining room were bad with flaky plaster, they needed to be repaired. There was a molding on the ceiling which I thought could not be repaired but to my surprise, when Bestwall Plastering came to give me the estimate, they told be it can be repaired and they could replace/make a replica of the missing pieces, I was so happy. They replastered the walls, the ceiling and repaired the molding. My dining room is fabulous now.I received wonderful service from Bestwall Plastering and will be recommending them to every one I know.

Kieran came on July 3rd to see the job and gave an estimate which I found was reasonable. He returned Friday at 8:30 am to perform services. Did a great job. You cannot tell that there was a window and door in the walls that he repaired. I believe that the $75 consultation charge is reasonable for a professional to estimate the cost of a job. The consultion charge was deducted from the cost of the job. I would definitely call him again.

Description of Work: Contacted Bestwall for estimate for plaster repair. They responded quickly, however they charge $75 just to provide an estimate. Once I was told this and expressed discomfort with the price, Kerin became rude on the phone, told me to contact someone else, and hung up. Why would I pay for an estimate in the current economy?

Kieran is prompt - arrives on time and responds immediately to calls. He even showed me how to do my own repairs in the future, taught me how to clean my boiler, and I found him to be very personable during the job and when I was writing the checks. Exhausted and overwhelmed, I thought I'd found an angel I could trust to do right, especially for what the cost of the job was. BEWARE, however - if you expect to simply hire him and trust in his professionalism without knowing much about plastering or what you may expect for your money. That was my mistake, and I hope you can learn from it. I should never have signed the checks without having someone who knew more point out all the problems I was left with. One contractor told me, "Congratulations - you got a $1,500 job done for $11,000.00" A friend who does his own work on his house said, "this is crap - he should be ashamed of himself." No painters I've had in will guarantee their work without re-doing much of what he did.... because Kieran did not use tape on many of the holes, meaning that in a couple years the outlines will show through the paint. Kieran told me that that is part of the prep the painters are responsible for. FOR $11,000.00????? My main issue was a ceiling that I did not want plastered; I wanted it dry-walled, especially after getting Kieran's $3,000+ estimate for an 11 x 12 room. Apparently not done getting enough money from me, Kieran told me HE would drywall it for $1,000.00. He put up a mishmash of several small pieces of drywall which, if done properly, should have been done with 3 large pieces after the falling plaster was removed. He screwed up the jumble of pieces over the crumbling plaster. The screws were not flush with the drywall. Moldings were covered. I called him and asked him to take it down. Instead, he told me he would "make it like new." Heartened and appreciative, I agreed he could move the molding down and trusted he would come through. So he proceeded to plaster over the board. I now have a ceiling with multiple dips and bumps which only lots more plaster - or a complete re-do, will correct. There is a screw protruding from the molding now. It's a mess. I emailed him and explained that this wasn't satisfactory, that I wanted him to take down the ceiling and refund the $1,000.00. He came back and this time, when I pointed out the still-extant problems, yelled at me that I signed the contract (true) I paid him (true) and that I owed him another $1,300 (FALSE) for for that plasterwork - which was never mentioned when he came back to fix what he'd done wrong in the first place. He did not remove switchplates or fixtures where many of the holes were - instead he plastered over the corners and on the edges. This had to be pointed out to me by my father, knowledegable friends, and the contractors who are coming after and have to repair the mess. Professional? Even if you are a savvy homeowner who's not as at-risk for being ripped off, maybe you should ask yourself if you want someone doing work for you who has no compunction about taking advantage of their less-experienced customers. Mike Holmes he is not. And, worst of all, BOY does he turn on you when you put your foot down about wanting things done right. FRIGHTENINGLY night and day from the affable contractor I put such trust in. Highly disappointed. I was surprised by the earlier report of his being rude. Now I understand completely. He yelled as he claimed money was owed him when it wasn't, he refused to directly answer my question about how he would feel about paying that money for this job...I had to raise my voice just to be heard. It ended with his storming out, and my being left with the miserable knowledge that I let myself be taken advantage of. I strongly recommend that if you choose to use him, you get a minimum of 3 estimates from other contractors, your contract states that you do not pay a dime unless you are certain that the work you got is the work that is promised, and that payment will be made ONLY when you're satisfied. I was pressed for time, impressed by his website, not knowledgeable about what I should expect, and I take full responsibility for being too trusting and naive - but cannot forgive a "professional" who is capable of taking that amount of money - and not doing the kind of work which that money would command - from a customer who would have loved to have written a much different report. Lesson learned. Also, be aware that While Kieran responds to phone calls, my emails detailing the dissatisfaction with the work were responded to only via phone. He's sharp, and will not put anything in writing - even an email - which could in any way show admission that what I got was not up to par with a professional job.

After spending approximately 30 minutes with us, he gave us an estimate to remove loose plaster and cover with mesh and then re-plaster for a total of $1250. He also said it would be a one day job. But unless we were willing to wait 4 to 6 wks, he could only do it on a Saturday. We thanked him and told him we would get back to him. After one week, I called Mr. Quilligan and explained that co-op rules prohibit any work being done on the weekend, but we would be willing to wait until sometime in May, well between the 4 to 6 weeks he had told us, to have him do the job. His retort was "I'm not going to do the job unless it can be on a Saturday, I was treated very badly, and won't come into your building to do the job during the week." So, if you are willing to deal with a "diva" of this magnitude, I guess you should try him. I also feel that if Mr. Quilligan was so offended he just should have told me when I met him in the lobby, and we could have ended it right then and there.
Description of Work: Mr. Quilligan arrived on time to give us an estimate on the plastering of our bathroom. He called from our Co-op lobby to tell me he was having trouble getting in the building, and could I come and get him. This was around noon time on a week day. I did go downstairs, and met him as he was walking toward the elevator. He told me at that point that our doorman was "very rude." Our doorman has strict orders not to allow workmen in the building during lunch hours. As Mr. Quilligan was wearing his work "whites" and carrying a large bag, it was understandable that a mistake was made. I apologized to him for the misunderstanding, and explained to him the co-op rules, to which he answered that many co-ops have the same, standard, rule.

WE ARRIVED TO THE BUILDING ON TIME TO GIVE AN ESTIMATE, IT WAS CLEAR WHEN I WALKED IN THE DOORMAN WAS HAVING AN ARGUMENT WITH ANOTHER PERSON IN THE LOBBY, SO I CALLED THE MEMBER TO COME DOWN TO MEET ME. I WAS DRESSED CLEANLY (AND AS FOR THE LARGE BAG, IT WAS A BRIEFCASE). I GAVE AN ESTIMATE BUT TOLD HER THE AVAILABILITY WAS 4-6 WEEKS AT THAT TIME. WHEN SHE CALLED THE FOLLOWING WEEK TO ASK ME TO COMPLETE THE JOB, WE WERE UNABLE TO FIT HER IN, SO WE PROVIDED HER WITH AN ANOTHER REFERRAL COMPANY, WHICH SHE CONTACTED. IF THE BUILDING SHE LIVES IN DOES NOT ALLOW PEOPLE IN DURING LUNCH HOUR, WHY THEN DID THE MEMBER MAKE AN APPOINTMENT WITH ME FOR LUNCH TIME IF SHE KNOWS THEY DON'T ALLOW LUNCH TIME APPOINTMENTS?

My gutter was backing up and that is what had caused this. They worked out really great for me. He did his best to match it down stairs with the wall upstairs. He cleaned up after him self to. He also had a great personality. He would go on his lunch and tell me he would be back in 20 minutes, he was right back in 20 minutes to. I remember thinking he was working so hard, why he didn t just take the all hour. He way great. Again, I am sorry I do not recall a charge.
