Alpha Moving and Storage

They showed up right on time and wasted no time getting to work. They were quick and efficient. No problems taking the furniture apart and putting it all back together at the new house. The price was just as I had expected from the estimate. No hidden costs. It was a four man crew and it took all day (9 hours). That also was in the estimate. In short these guys were great! If I had to move again, they will be my first and only phone call.

My initial dealings with Alpha moving was great. Stephanie helped us schedule the move. She was pleasant and helpful.The move was disappointing. The foreman immediately got to the paperwork. He began by talking about tipping saying that it was up to me but it is customary to tip 15-20% and that it is hot and on he went. I said that I had researched this matter ahead of time and would tip them. He wanted to know about the payment. I said I was going to use credit card. He said that no, I should run to the bank and get cash or a certified check. I tried to explain that I am from out of state and that I needed to charge and understood that I could charge it. He said it would take extra time to drive to NJ.with his charge paperwork. I said that I was sure that I could call his office and give my charge info over the phone. We went back and forth on this. It was very unpleasant. I felt beaten up by this manipulation. Finally, I said , " I will be reviewing you on Angies list." He took my charge card and got on with the move. Then, he wanted to add the tip. I said, no I had cash for that. The crew was pleasant and they worked quickly. My son had a desk from IKEA that had suffered in a move from Boston to NYC. After the movers left, he discovered that it was proper together but when he tried to move it, it fell apart. We had one box packed with glasses wrapped in newspaper in a box marked Fragile Glass. The top layer, 4 glasses were in pieces. The lower glasses were fine. Everything else was moved safely.

This is the fourth time I've used Alpha and am pleased with their service. Each time, I've gotten a hardworking, pleasant crew led by a capable, personable foreman. They are careful, efficient, communicative and thorough. These guys work hard to make sure that I know what's going on at every step and that I feel like my belongings are in good hands. I have had nothing but good experiences with them as far as having things packed, transported and unloaded without incident. The only thing I've learned that I would advise other customers is that the final cost on the day of the move has always exceeded the estimate - usually by a pretty big margin. I don't think their prices have been unfair or that the process is deliberately deceiving, but since the company will only take a certified check or cash, it's a pain to find out you don't have enough on hand at the last minute. I didn't have them come onsite to do a walkthrough, which I would do next time, and I suspect that would probably get their estimate much closer to the real price. And don't forget to plan for packing supplies! Dozens of rolls of tape and special boxes add up, and that was a surprise the first time. Overall, would definitely recommend.

Janus came for the estimate and was thorough and listened to all my concerns. The estimate seemd fair and they offered free storage for the first month. On moving day the guys arrived on time and started to work right away. They were very ambitious packing anything that was left unpacked without question. No one stopped until we asked them to stop and eat lunch that we provided. They addressed any and all concerns we had. We were very happy. There were some charges added to the estimate that we were unaware of. Things such as blanket rentals for padding on furniture. When our moving date for the 2nd move (storage to 4BR home) was moved up Heather from Alpha was very helpful. She made sure to communicate and work out the best date and time that worked for us. The crew was running late this day, but made sure to call and tell us that. They arrived promptly when the told us and started to work right away. It was nice to see some familiar faces from the first move. Again they worked tirelessly and got the job done well. I have not completely finished unpacking, but so far all of our items seem to be accounted for and only one casualty. We didn't like that lamp anyway! Overall we were very happy. I would only suggest asking for the estimate to include prices for the blanket rental, boxes and tape they may use. We were able to overlook this due to the fact that our storage ended up being FREE! It all worked out in the end!

Really Great group of guys came out to move us. They Where quick and very nice. The Price was on the higher side but well worth the few extra bucks. The only down side was there credit card machine was down. I had to run and get a certify check from then bank.

We told them that we had a specific window for delivery and they said that they could make it. Well, they came 3 A.M. on the last day. Up to delivery, they were good to work with.

Entire crew was hard working and careful with my furniture and boxes. I had packed valuable painting. Put in storage for a year, arrived in perfect condition, as did the unusual quantity of crystal & china. Alpha's mgmt was always very accommodating & a pleasure to work with.

They were prompt and expedient. They took apart furniture and wrapped the pieces and then reassembled at the new house. I discovered that 3 seat cushions were missing after the move and the representative who I spoke to before, during, and after the move was friendly and helpful and the insurance company who handled the matter was fair and professional. It is unfortunate that I only recently discovered my gas grill was damaged during the move so I can no longer file a claim about it.

The crew: punctual, efficient, courteous. Left a closet bar behind. Sales/quote: unhappy about misleading quote. First, they never mention in the quote about $150 non-refundable fee to secure booking. Second, I told them that I would pack all random items (books, toys, clothes, etc) and breakables (plates, glassware, vases, etc). They gave me a quote that included "all furniture and non-random items". The day of the moving I found out that it only covered big furniture (sofas, tables, consoles). Paintings, sculptures, lamps are not included, thus they charged us for the packing and labor of these items. Furthermore, they charged extra because I had a temperpedia mattress which is not considered as part of the furniture. What is the point having someone over to estimate volume/items and provide quote if many items are overlooked and exclusions are not even mentioned?

The customer service was excellent, the price was fair, and the crew did an excellent job packing, storing, and delivering my goods from NY-NJ. If ever I have the need, I would definitely call them again.

This is the second time I've used Alpha over a 5 year period. I could not have asked for things to go smoother. They were extremely prompt, professional, and courteous. Plus, I found their pricing to be extremely reasonable, especially considering that I had not used them in five years. I would definitely use them again, and I highly recommend them.

When I booked the move over the phone and via email, the staff I dealt with was always courteous and professional. The move went very smoothly, even though I was not fully prepared (I had run out of packing boxes the night before the move. I left a message about this--it was a Sunday night-- and the movers arrived the next morning prepared with extra boxes which they packed with care and efficiency).

Very well, when I contacted them they asked for a list of items that were being moved. They sent a tentative price for the packing and moving. They arrived on time moved my daughter with no problems. Great hire!

The original estimate was $3300, but when they picked up the stuff, they said it would be $4500. We negotiated and agreed on $3900. It was not the most pleasant experience.

Alpha came early on the date of pick up. The movers went straight to work while Tibor and I went over paperwork. I must admit there was a lot of paperwork, however Tibor made it simple. While we were in the middle of the paperwork the movers Justo and Robert continued to WRAP everything. The wrapping job they did on my items was fabulous; there was not a thing they didn?t wrap for moving. I was very pleased with the attention to detail all the Jersey movers showed towards their work; you could tell they took pride in what they did. The time that the Jersey Movers took was very efficient to say the least. They got there at 8:30 and were done by about 10am. I was very impressed with their speed and efficiency with the process. The reason for some of the lower B scores on the rating was because of the Charlotte crew. I was not as impressed with them for the fact that only Alex really worked hard during the unpacking portions?I may be a little critical because of the service I got from the JC crew. Overall Alpha provided me the move that I was looking for at a price that was workable. I would most defiantly use them again if I could.

They were efficient when they picked up the boxes. When they delivered the boxes, there were a few that were a little banged up.

It went very well and it was a tough move. They were very hard workers and upfront. They did what we expected to see from them even though there are some things that we still cannot find. Their price was also really in the border.

Alpha Moving is excellent. We used them 5 years ago when we moved from New Brunswick to Jersey City, they were awesome, and I was happy to find their contact information so we could use them again. I was also very happy they were just as excellent the second time around! Timing: They were supposed to arrive at 8:00am Saturday; at 7:55am I heard the truck heading down the street! They worked fast and finished early. Professionalism: The lead crew member reviewed the contract with me while the rest of the crew began bringing down boxes. He reviewed two estimates - one for 5 hours, and one for six (our original estimate), so we would know the cost if the move took more or less time. All the crew members were polite and nice young men - friendly but focused on getting the job done as promised! They call in to the office to keep a record of what time they arrive, when they've finished loading, and when they arrive at the next location for unloading. I like this as it protects both the customers & the company from disputes about timing. Efficiency: They had loaded all our boxes in UNDER TWENTY MINUTES. Down the two big narrow flights of stairs. Amazing. By the time I finished signing the various notices in the contract, I turned around and the apartment was almost empty. I felt like applauding! The crew then worked together to wrap all our furniture, which takes longer but still went very quickly. The truck was completely loaded and ready to leave in under two hours. I didn't time the unloading as well - it took a little longer because they had to unwrap all the furniture, and shuttle things to their proper rooms in the house, but it still went amazingly fast. Care: We packed our boxes ourselves, and not as well as we probably should have I might add, but so far all fragile things I have unpacked have been in perfect condition. They also took excellent care of our furniture, and did not leave any marks on walls, trim, or banisters - not in our apartment we were moving out of, and not in our house we moved into. Cost: The estimate was less than I expected (maybe around $1100, I can't remember exactly) and the crew finished so fast we payed the lower price of around $970. The estimate was based on hours of labor and number of people, travel time (they built in an hour), and a very small amount of packing material: as we'd packed ourselves, they just budgeted in 10 rolls of tape to secure padding to the furniture. If you have a lot of odds and ends around on the day of the move, they will pack it for you but 1) it will take time and 2) you will pay for supplies. Keep this in mind when comparing your estimate to your final cost! We only needed to pay for the tape and one box - they offered to pack a mirror we didn't have a box for, which I appreciated & was happy to pay. The crew can tell you the price of the supplies & will ask your permission before they use (& charge you for) anything. Overall: I have now had two great moving experiences with Alpha Moving. If I could I would rate them higher than A. If I can, I will use them every time I move for the rest of my life. Thank you Alpha for a job well done - but especially our awesome Saturday crew. I cannot say enough good things about them.

Crew was polite and hard-working and punctual.

We were very pleased with Alpha Moving & Storage and especially Edy the crew chief and highly recommend them. The people in the office worked with us when we changed our moving date. Edy's moving crew arrived at 9:30 AM and worked very hard in hot and humid weather and were finished around 5 PM. What impressed us was the care they took to protect our furniture and fragile items and avoid interior walls. Edy was very professional and his crew followed his example. We had a pull out couch that had to go up 2 flights and manuvered into a bedroom and they got it done. The cost of our move actually came in less than the estimate and nothing was broken and no walls were scratched. I have already recommended Alpha to a coworker.

Alpha Moving & Storage was just great. The price was very reasonable and the service was outstanding. I liked their courtesy and the way they handled our property. They went out of their way to help us. We had an issue that took my wife and I away from that day but the guys came out on their own and put a lot of boxes for a reasonable charge. I would definitely use them again. I highly recommend them.

They were excellent. They were fast, everything was perfect with them. I had no problem whatsoever. I recommend them to a lot of people.

They were very helpful throughout the process. From giving the quote on the phone, to the crew that came for the move. Nothing was damaged and the move was completed in a timely and neat fashion. They kept evrything in its place, assembled and disassembled furniture when needed for the move and carried a few pieces to the dumpster that we needed to throw out without charging anything extra.

I got a quote for my move and it ended up twice the amount at the end. I was kind go surprise by the cost of the moving supplies. The communication between the actual movers and the person that takes charge of the inventory was no that good. They were right on time.
