We told them to use half inch drywall and showed them the label from the back of the existing drywall. They bought five eighths inch drywall, and then lied that the half inch drywall was too wide and should have gotten three eighths inch drywall. So they needed to spread the taping compound over a larger area to camouflage the difference. We were told this after the third coat of drywall compound. After they left, we saw from the back of leftover drywall left with us that they had purchased five eighths inch drywall, not one half inch as they said they had.

They thought of every way to save me money. I had one estimate that would have charged me thousands and wouldn't fix the problem long term.
