The windows were put in on June 30, 2011 and I am extremely satisfied with the results. The crew of 5 men worked efficiently and provided explanations to me of the work they had to do. I found them all to be very friendly, courteous, polite and very aware of keeping things neat; they even took their shoes off before walking into my home. While Dan was not on the premises with the crew, he was easily and quickly accessible by phone for any questions or concerns I had. I don't doubt that if I had asked him to come to the condo that he would not have hesitated to do so. I recommend American Home Remodeling to anyone who needs windows. Judging from my meeting with Dan and his obvious pride in the quality of work and service that he strives to provide for his customers, I would also not hesitate to contact Dan for other remodeling projects I will have in the future.

I met with the sales rep from American Home and at his urging checked them out on the internet and Angie’s List. After getting the estimate we decided to go with them. The following Saturday the owner (Vic) came by as scheduled with some of the people that would be doing the work. He outlined everything to me as far as what would be done and when and how it would be accomplished. I remember thinking at that point how much he reminded me of some of the better project managers that I've worked with in corporate America and how I hoped things would play out as he explained them. In short things played out EXACTLY as he explained them. That Tuesday the dumpster arrived and they started to remove the siding just as Vic had said. The same day they started working on my front steps, just as Vic had said. Basically everything Vic (the owner of American Home) promised me was delivered on time and very professionally. Vic and his staff were the absolute best in the work that they performed. Someone was at my house everyday to do something, from the Mason, to the Door guy, to the rail guys to the siding guys, to the gutter guys, to the stucco guy. They were all master craftsmen not just in my opinion but the opinion of several of my neighbors as well who commented on how meticulous they were in performing their work. Again I have to stress how great a job everyone did especially the gentleman who did the stucco which was the largest part of the job. He would do a part of the house and then go back and check from several angles to make sure what he had done was correct and aesthetically pleasing. According to my wife and neighbor he did this not once or twice but consistently throughout the job. He was very meticulous with every detail. Vic also came out to inspect the work almost every day and kept me abreast of things by phone and or in person and was always available for any questions that I had during the process. The end result of the work was phenomenal; Vic and his team did a fantastic job. It has only been a couple of days but we have received numerous compliments from our neighbors and other passersby. We were so thoroughly impressed with American Home that I called Vic today 5/9/11 and suggested he to put their sign back in front of the house for a couple of days so that people would know who did such a fabulous job. Thanks to Angie’s list for helping us find American Home who will probably doing many future home projects for me and my family

My interaction with them was fine. They were very professional and everything was just great, except that the price was too expensive. The price was more than I ever imagined it would be. They seemed to really know what they were doing and seemed to be very familiar with code. They also seemed to understand exactly what it was I was looking for. They made some suggestions that I hadn’t thought about that made a lot of sense.

All work was completed in a timely manner. Good communicator.

I initially had a negative experience with American Home Remodeling when I called and scheduled an appointment for an estimate. I had written the company off. However, Victor Sr. called me some days later to apologize for the confusion that led to the dropped appointment. He was professional and explained the situation that had occurred. We rescheduled the appointment, I met with Victor Jr., who was prompt. Though I have chosen to go with another company for the work I am looking to have done, I appreciated their responsiveness and professionalism and I would suggest anyone who is looking for estimates in their field of expertise to give them a try.

Victor came to my house to give me an estimate to possibly replace the skylight and the roof on my flat-roofed historic house in downtown Jersey City. He climbed to the roof through the skylight and after inspection informed me that my roof was still in good condition and did not need to be replaced, and that the sometimes leaky, original skylight just needed some silicone around the seams and roof cement surrounding the skylight. I appreciated his knowledgable & honest answer. As a women who owns a very old house, I am wary of contractors trying to get over. I proceeded to show him other major work that I will definitely call him in to estimate when I am ready to have it done. In the meantime, my brother can do the small job of reinforcing my antique skylight!

They gave me an estimate for my front porch. I wanted a part of the porch to be rebuilt. They were professional. They offered a different solution to my problem. I used somebody else but I appreciated that they came in and gave me their time and their effort. They were very responsive. They were here at the time they said they would be. I would consider them in the future.

I contacted American Home Removelling via email, and they were very responsive. Chris and Nick were prompt for their appointment and brought with them a full selection of materials and samples. Before coming to us, they had driven around the neighborhood to get a feel for the types of homes and construction materials in use, which was impressive and helpful to us. They did make our list of three contractor finalists, but we did end up chosing another contractor for various reasons. I would, though, very highly recommend including them in future projects--they are respectful and fast with answers to questions, and I suspect that they'd do a great job on those projects for which they are a fit.

Unfortunately, it seemed liked the salesman was desperate for a roofing job. When I asked for an estimate on a different kind of job, he was unresponsive and unprofessional. They have high ratings, and would probably do a good job, but I was disappointed with how they handeled my request for another estimate. Price-C Prof-D Resp-C Qualityn/a Overall-C Punc—C

I cannot say enough about American Home Remodeling and especially Chris Fontana. He was so gracious, patient, and professional to my parents who do not speak English well. This is clearly a family business which understands the importance of personal relationships and quality workmanship. Chris personally handled everything from the permits to overall project management. After having several nightmarish experiences with contractors, I am so happy to have finally found a company that takes pride in building and maintaining a good reputation.

I called to get someone to come over to look at the damage in our shower and give us an estimate on the cost of repair. The man who came was very polite and professional, but he said as soon as he saw the damage in our shower that that was way too small of a job for his company and he never would have come over if he'd known. I had explained in as much detail as I could over the phone that the issue was the tiles buckling behind the faucet in the shower. The upshot was that he recommended a contractor he works with who he highly recommended. We went with that contractor and he did a stellar job.

They are fantastic. They are very organized and responsive and they show up when they say they are going to show up. They clean up the work area before they leave daily. I cannot say enough good things about them. Within 3 weeks they are 80% done with the job.

They showed up for the appointment. I'm not going to use them. They were not bad; they were just not right for me. They were responsive.

I was so pleased that I felt the least I could do was to share my experience with Angie's list members. I found the gentleman representing American Home Remodeling to be professional, knowledgeable and very patient in answerig my questions. If I ever plan to remodel my kitchen, I will not hesitate to call American Home Remodeling

I was being threatened with legal action for "slander" for writing a bad review.

Job went great, Victor was professional, responsive and kept his commitments, he took the time to explain all aspects of the job and never pressured me. I felt I got a very good value: high quality work at a fair price. The foreman, Mike was also very helpful and addressed all my concerns throughout the project. I highly recommend American Home Remodeling!

My family & I live in a late 19th century farmhouse that has been updated over time - with all the attendant challenges & charms. The renovation required the ability to design the space. It seemed to my husband & I that AHR was challenged by the project. We made the decision to go elsewhere. If our project did not have the challenges that come with a 100+ year old home then we would have been comfortable including AHR in the bid process.

Our project was too small for their needs. They were very nice and actually referred us to a few other subcontractors that could assist us. They were very helpful and advised their prices might be a bit higher than what we wanting to pay. It's a family run business and the son of the owner was very professional. He did check out our bathroom, as we'd like to remodel this in the future, and said to contact him when we're ready.

I called American Home Remodeling and spoke with Victor Fiore. I explained to Mr. Fiore that my husband and I bought a three family house in New Jersey that was built back in 1920 and needed a new roof. That same week, we met with Mr. Fiore for a free estimate. Mr. Fiore was very professional and very nice. Mr. Fiore called that same morning to confirm our appointment and he was on time. Speaking with Mr. Fiore, we knew that we were dealing with an educated and intelligent man. We had other roofing companies give us cheaper estimates, but we were confident that American Home Remodeling was the roofing company we wanted to use. We were approved for 100% financing the next day and the day after that, Mr. Fiore had his men working on the roof. We were so amazed as to how quick and competent his workers were. They were also very clean and polite. Mr. Fiore took care of getting the permit for the roofing job and he took care of the dumpster (drop off and pick up). I didn't have to worry myself with any of those details. We are very happy with our new roof and the work American Home Remodeling did. Thank you so much Victor. My husband and I are worry free and we will definitely call on you to do more work around the New Jersey house and the house we want to buy in Ulster County, New York. I highly recommend that you consider using this company to perform work around your house.

The company was very direct and (I thought) honest about what needed to be done, and the estimate seemed appropriate. Our main contact was always available by cell phone and he called back very quickly if we had to leave a message. I asked him about putting in a roof fan, and he suggested not doing so, even though it would have provided him more work and money. The workers were very professional, and they did a fine job cleaning up after their work. They did mangle a couple of small bushes near the front of the house, but the company subtracted from the total to make up for the damage.

The experience went very well. They were very responsive to the initial inquirty. Once the job started hey were quick to address any concerns and completed the job timely.

They were great. The price was okay. He got the permits quick. To be honest, he surprised us because he gave us a date when he would get the permits and start the work and he actually started a week earlier. They were quick. They were there when they said they were going to be there. They never had any gaps in the days or anything. I have no complaints. The crew they had working had been working there for 8 years. These guys were efficient and the tile came out beautiful. They were trustworthy. I gave them a key to the house and they came. When they left, everything was locked up. They were great about it. When they were done, they returned the keys. He was also great for getting all the permits. Victor was always in contact with us. When he was done, he did a walk through with us if we had any concerns we wanted fixed. There were a couple little items and the next day they were fixed. They were meticulous. These guys did quality work.

American Home Remodeling is a company I would highly recommend. I interviewed several contractors and while they were not the least expensive they were fair and appeared to be a responsible company that would complete the job to my satisfaction and that certainly proved to be the case. My kitchen was gutted and completely renovated and I could not be happier with the workmanship, professionalism and dependability of each and every worker from American Home Remodeling that came to my home. The most important factor was that I was always well informed of the time line and always knew what to expect when. Any questions I had were quickly answered and issues were immediately addressed and corrected.

I worked with both Chris and Dan and they could not have been more professional. I financed part of my project and they made the paperwork involved painless. They called me on a daily basis to let me know how the project was coming along and what they would be doing that day. The finished the job in 4 days where as someone else told me 2-3 weeks. There price was super competitive and the best price out of all of the quotes I got. The job came out much better than I expected, there attention to detail is superior. American Home Remodeling could not have done anything better, I am looking forward to using them again in the very near future.

The person who responded to my call was the owner's youngest son and I think his name was Danny but I can't locate his card. He was very personable and concerned. He explained that this was a family run business and brought along a folder showing me various reviews they had received. I thought the price was reasonable and they did respond promptly. The roof was done while I was at work. It was done quickly, looks great and solved the problem of the leak. My only complaint about the roofers is that they didn't clean up all that well. There were lots of nails left on the patio and on the lawn. I have a small dog and I was worried about her stepping on one. The other 3 jobs were done while I was at home. The men who repaired my brick walkway did a terrific job. They used the same bricks that were there and made my walkway look brand new. They were quick, professional and neat. One man came to repair the ceiling and do the waterproofing. I didn't think you could repair ceilings and walls until they were dry but I thought he was the professional and knew what he was doing. I looked at the jobs when he was finished and everything looked fine. The next week I noticed a crack in the ceiling where the repair was. I went down to the basement and noticed the wall bubbling out behind the waterproofing and crumbling to the floor. I called Danny and he said, no problem, they would come back and fix it. When the same gentleman returned I asked him if both problems could have been caused because both areas were not completely dry. He said yes and redid the ceiling. Down in the basement he said that the waterproofing was only a temporary fix and there was no point in redoing it. He said the water needed to be diverted away from the house by digging a trench and laying pipes away from the house. I called Danny and asked if this was something his company could handle and, if so, could he give me an estimate. He said they could do it and he would get back to me. I never heard from him again and was left with a ceiling that cracked once again and a basement with crumbling walls. My best friend's nephew, Joe, arrived from the state of Washington one month ago. Joe has really repaired the ceiling and painted it. He also scraped off the basement walls and applied waterproofing to them and the walls remain completely dry. If I knew who they were, I would rehire the guys who did my walkway and the roofers. I would never again use American Homes. They tried to make amends after I filed my complaint and refunded $500.
