The Ice Man

Highly dissatisfied with their estimate process. Person came out here on time to collect details on the work. (1) Didn’t hear back from them in a week, so called them, and they said they would provide it. They didn’t. (2) Followed up with them a few days later. They said they would provide it. But did not. (3) Last follow-up. They then called and said they are not interested in bidding on the job without any reason. They could have said that in the first follow up or the second one - I could have looked for another quote. It was a big job so needed a second quote and reached out to them because of the good reviews.

I just trust them. They're very reliable and fair. I feel comfortable with them; I feel comfortable with the employees and the technicians that they use.

They come out regularly.? For price, I'd give them an A-plus if you have it.? They were wonderful.

The owner came to our house to give us an estimate. We had already received estimates for at least 3 other installers. But I called The IceMan because he had good ratings in Angies List. The price quoted was not the lowest, nor the highest we had received. I did try to get The IceMan to reduce the price but he would not budge. So, we thought about it a bit. We decided to go with The IceMan because of the ratings he had received on Angies' List. We were pleased that he was able to install the new A/C in a short time period. It was July 3rd. We had been through some very hot weather and our A/C had died. The day of the installation, the workers arrived on time and kept at work. They had a lot of work to do but completed without a hitch. They were also responsible for filing for the permit in our township to do this work. I began to wonder when I did not hear anything about it. I knew that our township inspector would have to check the installation. Finally, in late October, I received the paperwork from The Iceman for our permit. Ok, it took a long time to get to me. But, it was through and provided important information to tell us what we needed to do to be ready to pass the inspection. Standards have changed since the last A/C was installed, so it was not just the A/C that the inspector woud be looking at. The IceMan gave us that information. We have not had a single problem with the A/C and I would recommend The IceMan to others. Just know that he will not be the least expensive of the installers. But the quality of the work has a value.

It was not an urgent matter, so we scheduled a September date to install a new air conditioning system: New condenser, coil and filter unit. A thorough evaluation was performed for the space to be conditioned. The proposal included six configurations with price points for our selection. Four professionals arrived with everything they needed. Any concerns were handled timely, and the entire job was completed in just a few days. The result is Excellent. The Ice Man team will be called for all of our future HVAC needs.

Replaced furnace and AC. Pleasant gentlemen, prompt, worked hard all day to finish the job. No mess left behind. They have done repairs on furnace in the past and are always prompt and professional!

The iceman is hands down the best. It is a rarity to find a contractor whose workmanship, service, and price are phenomenal. There was no compromise from my end. We got the top-of -the -line system at a lower price than lower quality systems offered by the competition. The system is also beautifully installed, and they corrected an exhaust problem with m gas water heater at no charge.

This is the third time we've used them. Prices are much better, and they explain things. I just felt like they're being honest!

Overall - went well. Showed up as promised, quickly identified the problem, he knew what needed to be done. The $190 quote for the sealant, material and installation, seemed to be high since the online cost of the sealant was $75. After some negotiation, this was reduced, and after applying a cash discount the total bill came to about $400. The workman was very friendly and patient.

showed up an hour late with no notice. They were supposed to call me if the bill was going to be more than $250 which they didnt do. They billed services not by actual hours worked but by the job the way mechanics do which i have never experienced with plumbing or hvac services.

The Iceman Cometh... quickly. Great experience. Went upstairs around 1pm to find the temperature in the bedroom at 88 deg and warm air coming out of the vents. Straight to Angie's list to find a few local A/C specialists. Left voice messages with three vendors then took the kids to the pool to cool off. My wife called me at about 4:45 to say that The Ice-Man had returned the call and was on his way to the house. He showed up about 5:15 and got straight to work. Explained what he found as he diagnosed the problem. Didn't have the dual capacitor for the Trane unit; but, replaced it was able to install two single capacitors (one for the fan motor and one for the compressor). By 6:00pm the unit was running again.

Our 10-yr-old central air conditioning system malfunctioned during a heat wave. This company responded immediately and refilled the unit with refrigerant(lasted only four days) until a new one could be ordered/installed. The were thorough, informative, courteous and quite knowledgeable during the installation!

I started with the ratings in Consumer Reports to select equipment manufacturers and narrowed down the list to: Carrier, Trane, American Standard and Bryant. Then, I tried to find best possible dealers/installers on Angie's list and narrowed down the list to: Ice-Man (Carrier) Service Today (Carrier) Indoor Air (Trane) Dowd's Heating & Air (Trane) Kagel Heating & Air (American Standard) I dropped Bryant as I couldn't find dealers in my service area that had reviews on Angie's list. Over the course of a week, I got estimates from above mentioned dealers and made the final choice to go with Ice-Man based on the following criteria: 1. Site survey and estimation process 2. Quality of the proposal 3. Years in business and length of experience with the brand 4. Better Business Bureau complaint records/history 5. Price Had I decided to go with Trane brand, I would have selected Dowd's. What I liked most about Ice-Man: 1. Family run business that has been in operation for a very long time with deep expertise in Carrier equipment. 2. Owner (Lawrence Muscente) came out to measure the house and provide the estimate. 3. Owner's brother (Martin Muscente) who handled all the communication pre and post-sale, was easily accessible via phone and e-mail. 4. Provided a very detailed proposal that provided pricing for many different configurations including exact part numbers, pricing, warranty and rebate details. There was zero ambiguity about what you were getting and for how much. Additionally, the proposal included the manual J and manual D sizing analysis which contained all the measurements and recommended equipment sizing details. 5. Pricing is very competitive 6. Experienced crew - lead installer had been with Ice-Man for 20 years. 7. Trouble free installation - arrived on time, installed the new systems without any issues and took care not to mess up or damage the home interior. 8. Promptly registered the new equipment with Carrier on our behalf. 9. Went to the trouble of rearranging their schedule to squeeze in installation of the 2nd floor system - saved us from enduring 90 degree heat in our bedrooms. 10. Recharged the existing A/C system on 1st floor at no cost so that we would be comfortable until they could schedule installation. What could have been better 1. We had to wait 2 weeks for installation of the 1st floor system and I had to chase them a few times to get us on the schedule. . 2. The existing 2nd floor system had a less than ideal drainage setup with a condensate pump draining into the vent pipe which is against code in some areas. Ice-Man replicated the same setup as the gravity based drainage line was not available - it had erroneously been re-purposed for something else. My expectation was that the new system will be installed using best practices and correct the existing setup. I spoke to Marty about this and when they came to install the 2nd system, they spent the time to research the setup and we ultimately decided to keep it as-is as no straightforward solution was possible. I wish they had made a proactive effort at correcting the setup. Future Updates 1. Ice-Man has submitted paperwork for permits - will update the review after inspections are completed. 2. Ice-Man will be applying for rebates - will update after I get the rebates Equipment Selections and Review: We selected Carrier over Trane for 2 reasons: - more familiar with Carrier brand - better pricing than Trane for high efficiency units For the 1st floor, we chose 2-stage A/C and 98% efficiency modulating furnace (Carrier Infinity line) For the 2nd floor, we chose 2-stage A/C and 80% efficiency 2-stage furnace (Carrier Infinity line) The Carrier Infinity thermostat is a phenomenal easy-to-use touch screen unit !!! I've used digital thermostats for 15+ years and nothing compares to this new thermostat. Overall, I feel lucky to have found Ice-Man and whole heartedly recommend to anyone considering system replacements.

I called to schedule a routine maintenance on my system. The man I spoke with was helpful and professional. He told me that winter was not the appropriate time to maintain my system, but that he would put me into his system and would call me in the summer to arrange a service appointment. I was very appreciative of his honesty.

Their cost is high but their work is worth every bit of it. The humidifier is working fine now.

Was able to get an appointment with a few days of calling. Personable and competent technician came, explained the service and the need for the part.

The guys were prompt and did a very thorough job cleaning the furnace. That had all the parts they needed and were very professional.

The Ice Man was outstanding. He did a full measurement of the whole house. I actually got my furnace working. He found what was wrong with it and fixed it with no charge while he was doing the quote. He emailed a quote and then brought a digital copy to the house. The only reason I didn't end up getting him to do the work was there is a state program and I get $10000 of the cost but he doesn't participate in it.

Price was about $6000 less than other quotes. No high pressure sales gimmick. Great service. Took care of paper work for rebates. I would recommend this contractor to others.

He arrived punctually for the estimate and repair work. Crew was efficient and courteous . The work was completed as specified in the contract and the ac has worked without problems since that time.

These guys arrived on-time, removed both old systems and installed two new air conditionerand furnaces in 8 hours. They arrived with a crew of 4 guys and took out old equipment and brought in all new without a dent/scratch or dirt on floor anywhere.They took care not to damage planting in area around outside air conditioner unit and did not leave any debris anywhere. They were friendly, professional and thorough with all aspects beginning from providing us with quote and explaining the new HVAC system options so that we would make the best choice. They are not hard sell but make sure you understand not to buy too large of a system than you need. We had a 3.5 ton A/C unit that was oversized for our needs and we ended up going with their recommendation for smaller Carrier unit.. They provided us with all calculations and explained them in making sure we understood why they recommended smaller unit. The Carrier's also had best options for rebates and the company also offers a $100.00 coupon. Also , discovered they had a 5% coupon on Angies list that I used. We had been without A/C for two weeks and they expedited our replacement even though we were not their regular customers. We were told by our Service provider, Princeton Air that we would have to wait 1 and 1/2 weeks or more to have them install . I can't say enough about how helpful and proffesional this company was to deal with. We thought this project would be a nightmare having never had to research and decide upon a new heating and cooling system. We had the original system in our 19 year old home. The paperwork for rebates and town permits were taken care of by them. All we have to do is arrange the inspection through Plainsboro Township.I would highly recommend this family owned and operated company to anyone looking for a knowlegable, trustworthy HVAC company.

They were excellent....clean, quick and courteous.

I had used them for minor a/c work and been satisfied, however when I asked them for a proposal to do a boiler replacement and as conversion they were quick to send an estimator. He spend some quite some time at my house on a Friday, and said he would work-up a price and email me. When I called to follow-up on Tuesday, I was told "just wait for the mail". The email never came, nor did a phone call. Should I chase them to give them work?

So far I'm happy with it, and I think he did a good job.
