Provided a low ball estimate then hand some unqualified kids and do the work. The work performed was horrible and dangerous!!! They placed a gas line on top of a steam pipe!! They left in the middle of the job because they had a more important job, then referred me to another plumber to finish the work. The other plumber charged me twice the original work to perform a quarter of the work then stopped showing up. Finally I hired a local plumber who identified all of the dangerous conditions caused by the first plumber and fixed them but charged me a couple of thousand more. I can't believe Griggs is in business he is a crook! After all of this he sent me an invoice for double of what he said he would charge me to do the entire job.
Description of Work: He changed the scope of the work he was supposed to fix a sink, a boiler problem and put in a gas line.

Response from Robert Griggs Plumbing & Heating, LLC
When you and your husband purchased a house that was vacant for two years prior, you expected everything to work properly. The first time I was at your home, your husband gave me a list of items that needed to be corrected in order for the town to issue you a certificate of occupancy to move in. I gave you a price range that was higher than what you listed here, and I also explained that there most likely would be additional costs once the water was turned back on and everything was tested. Your husband had no problem with that and said he realized that may be the case. While we were performing the list of work the town requested, you and your husband wanted some other work done- a new gas line run across the basement for a new dryer your were getting, new connections installed for a new washing machine you were getting, among other things. You had never told us about any of this beforehand. Your husband told us go ahead and do it. Once we started discussing the costs of these additional items, your husband started telling us how you guys had no money and couldn't afford the work. He also told the electrician and cable guy the same story. We started getting leery, and referred you to another contractor to fix the heat when you called with an emergency on the weekend in the middle of December. This contractor even told us you had trouble paying him. We sent several invoices for payment for the work we had completed. We had over $1000 in materials that were installed in your home, not including the labor cost. To date, we have not received a cent from you or your husband. We have never received a phone call or letter as to what unsafe conditions we supposedly left at your home, or why you would not pay. In fact, we worked with the town plumbing inspector to resolve several issues, even after we were no longer working for you. We performed all work at your home in December 2009. We sent several invoices over the next year, but got no response. You still have not called us about any problems with what we did. I know the company that you had come in after the company I recommended, and I know the reputation they have for using scare tactics to run up the bill. They also pay their plumbers commission on anything they bring in. The first time we heard from you was when you complained to the BBB, 14 months after we did our work. This was one month after we turned your account in to our collection agency for non-payment. What a coincidence that is. The BBB also found that your complaint was not valid, and sent us a letter saying so. You are free to contact me at any time to resolve your outstanding bill. We can accept check, Visa, Mastercard or Discover. You can reach me at (908) 874-3482. Until then, please stop trying to slander us. As a lawyer, your husband knows not to spread untruths.

Bob responded to the request promptly, set up an appointment and showed up as promised. All work was done neatly and effectively. Bob was professional and courteous, worked quietly and quickly. Everything was cleaned up after the work was done. The payment was exactly as quoted. Would definitely use again.
Description of Work: Connect plumbing to new kitchen sink, connect garbage disposal, connect water to new dishwasher.
