Signed a contract for painting two large rooms including walls, ceiling, trims. After he started the project demanded more money. He did a fair job painting walls and ceiling, but completely butchered the trims and moldings. I could 've done much better job painting by myself. I asked Glenn to fix the problem areas after which he became belligerent and nasty. The guy lacks expertise and does not stand behind his job. Look for another painter,

Response from Glenn Kaune's Custom Painting
Job was complete. Customer did not want to pay $300.00 balance. Job was $1070.00 Plus $300.00. The total was $1370.00. Customer gave me a hard time for 1 hour at the end of job. It was 100% complete. I told him I would take him to court if I wasn’t paid in full. He wanted to give me $150.00 instead of the $300.00. I needed to call the paint store to prov how much paint was bought. The material cost was $200.00. The paint store mailed him a receipt and he still wasn’t satisfied. He paid me and job was done. Room was 15 by 20 ft, ceiling was cathedral 9 ft to 20 ft. Huge kitchen ceiling 20 ft by 20 ft. I was paid in full. I told customer to call me if needed for anything else. I finished the job sooner the expected and that’s the reason he wanted $500.00 back.

He should have not accepted the job if he didn't know what the heck he was doing....I could have done a better job myself!
Description of Work: We hired him to paint our kitchen cabinets. He said he would remove the cabinet doors, sand,, prime and paint. He came a few days later and did NOT remove the doors, stating the hinges were old and would be expensive to replace if they didn't go back on correctly. He put one coat of primer and one coat of paint and said he was done. They were NOT done. He said WE could finish them. He got paint everywhere...on our new granite counters, the floors, walls. He also took off his shirt, very unprofessional, especially that I have 4 kids, including 2 teenage girls in the house. It was a complete waste of money. I wish I would have joined this site and would have seen his horrible reviews before!

It was a nightmare!!! The paint job is horrible. There are drip marks on the walls. He basically refused to clean my kitchen cabinets and told me that i could clean up myself since he does not allow himself alot of cleannup time. The touch up painting will now be a service call at an additional charge. He broke some of the blinds when he moved them from thewindows. he removed all the bathroom light fixature and left them in a box along with all the door knobs. He was very sloppy with the spray painting. He also had to tell me the details of his personal life... He refused to listened to any suggestions and remains that he is the professional and knows best.
Description of Work: Glen came to the estimate and when he gave me the total price, I advised him it was not in our price range. He then said he would reestimate the job. The job consisted of cleaning the paneled walls and then priming and spackling the paneling seams and . painting.Upon the re-estimate we came up on a price I could live with I advised him that our kitchen was going to be re done some where down the road, but not imediately. I also advised him that the carpets were being replaced and that it was ok if paint was spilled on them. I also advise him that I had a 5 gallon can of primer that he could use. He began the job right away, we at the timehad not moved into the house so i gave him a key to come and go as he pleased. Every day there was another issue. The walls needed more primer the spackle was holding...he needed to get more speckle. Each time I am writing another check. He argued with me on my choice of paint colors. He told me he only uses the best of paints.(Benjamin Moore). He also told me that the price would include light touch after our furniture was moved in. Well paint job done there is paint sprayed all over my kitchen cabins which he advised me I could clean up. He told my friend i said "don't worry about the kitchen it going to be replaced. Thank God we were not keeping the carpet since it was saturated with paint. Our Plumber noticed the paint drip marks in the bathrooms. He also gave us a price to paint our deck and the other day he arrived with color choices and said the low price he gave us is only for a color that does not match our trim or our house, and he advised me if we choice another color and it takes more paint he will have to increase his price. When I advised him the color does not match he advised me it is in the same family. (Marron red and Dark Brown). In all my conversation with Glen he kept telling me what a expert painter he was.

Glenn showed up for an estimate. We had prepped the walls the best we could, removing the wallpaper and glue. We explained that the kitchen wall paper came off easy but the foyer and hall did not. We explained the paper on the sheet rock was loose in various areas. We also removed all the popcorn ceilings. He saw the shape the walls were in and said "no problem" you will be thrilled with the job I do. My husband told him he would replace the damaged sheetrock and he told us that was not necessary. He gave us a great price to do both jobs painting included skim coating walls, ceiling and trim. (WE WOULD SUPPLY THE MATERIALS)He showed up on time to do the job and that's where the nice ended and the trouble started. He insisted on getting paid daily. He said "This way if either of us isn't happy we are done." My husband told him he should always try to make the homeowner happy and he said "Oh no you want to keep your contractor happy." He was very rude and unprofessional from the beginning. He made several inappropriate comments while he was here. Any time my husband asked him about a particular area he got very angry and insulted for no reason. He stated he would be here for approximately five days. My husband took off from work. The second day he said he just got a big job for over 5,000 thousand dollars and he would be back on Saturday and Sunday to finish. From this point on he appeared to be in a big rush to get to his next job and the job that originally was going to take five days was going to be done in four. when he returned on Saturday my husband decided to talk to him before he went any further to make sure the job was getting done to our satisfaction. The sky light area looked horrible an needed a second coat of paint and more spakle. Glen said he was done with that area and he was not going to keep chasing his tail, when asked what that meant he said he wasn't going to keep fixing things my husband pointed out. He said that when the job was done to his satisfaction (Glenn's)he was done. He became Irate and stood in my driveway shouting at my husband and saying he wasn't going to work for free and we couldn't make him. We never asked him to work for free only to do the job he was being paid to do. Long story short he finished on Sunday. To sum up, Painting job was good, spackling was horrendous. He wouldn't even use a ladder to paint and spackle our skylight he taped a brush to a stick to paint it."I asked if it was going to be the same color as the walls and he said "No, I'm not getting on a ladder to to paint it."" We are going to have to hire someone else to repair the walls and then paint again. I would never use him again and would never recommend him to anyone. He is very confrontational and unprofessional I do not know how he stays in business with his attitude. He got an offer to do a big commercial job so he was in a big hurry to finish our job. By Sunday we were so stressed out that we just wanted him finished and out the door. What a nightmare!

The work was satisfactory. The man's attitude was unprofessional and rude. I'm amazed he's able to business with an attitude like that. He was pleasant when he gave the estimate. I just politely asked questions, and he acted very insulted. The three days he was here he was very miserable. I didn't try to go outside to speak to him to avoid a confrontation.
