They tore up our old driveway and put in a new blacktop driveway. The work only took one day and they were very prompt about coming when they said they would. When the workers left there was some gravel left at the end of the driveway, the company sent someone out to check the work and he cleaned up the mess when I pointed it out to him. They had the best price for the driveway itself but the price was higher than competitors for follow up work so I went with someone else.

I requested a quote online and received an email confirmation immediately. Emmil called and came out the next day. He wrote up a quote and was gone in 30 mins. I accepted and faxed back the quote on Tuesday and received a call on Thursday to do the work on Friday. They arrived at 8:00 AM as promised and finished up around 3:00. I couldn't be happier with the job! All the people I dealt with at Hicks were nice, polite and professional.

They were very good. I would recommend them to others.

With my engineering background, I was amazed at the quality and professionalism shown by the company. They had all of the right equipment and about 6 workers. Everything went like clockwork. Each worker was completely focused on his/her job. One drove the truck with the asphalt, another drove the machine that provides the thick, level, and smooth asphalt, another ran a drive-on roller, another tamped the edges manually, another ran the power tamper on the corners. another poured sealer where the driveway meets the road. Another cooled and washed the asphalt. Etc, Etc. The final result was perfect: a) flat and level. b) nice apron where it meets the road. c) perfect mating with my sidewalk. d) perfect mating with my garage. e) nice 45 degree slop at the edges.

They worked with me on price, and came literally arrived the next morning at 8:30 to do the job. Sprayed the sealcoat on, which is substantially thinner than typical brushed on sealer. Not sure if this was a good call timing wise: we are supposed to have rainshowers and snow flurries the next few days. Only negative was that they took my newspapers (4 newspapers plus businessweek magazine delivered Fridays, in a single bag) and threw them in the gutter to be out of the way. Unfortunately, this was the day for recycling pickup, and they were in the street right next to the recycling bin. They got tossed as I watched helplessly from my window. Note to others: Pick up your newspapers early!

We needed a parking pad poured at our house. They came out and measured and did the work. They made the pad crooked, cut into the existing part of the driveway and shorted us about 80 sq ft. They did not do any work to see what water pooling would be like in the yard so now we have a crooked pad that puddles every time it rains. We decided not to fix it because there would be permanent seams in the blacktop and it would look terrible. We had another company come out for the water pooling issue and they asked us who did is so they would not recommend them to anyone. The repair quotes we have received to fix this work have been close to $2,000. I chose them due to other reviews on is site and this experience was most unfortunate.

He did a very good job. He had a large crew and they completed the work in less than a day. They came when they were supposed to and were on target with how long it would take. They were organized, competitive, professional and timely. Their pricing was competitive as well.

They did an excellent job! They removed the old driveway carefully and installed the new one. I am completely happy. Charlie was great to deal with, and I found the price more than fair. Another company was $1000.00 more and didn't care.

Estimate came very quickly with very detailed information and options. Scheduling required a few calls back and forth. The finished product is excellent

Hicks Paving was excellent. They called right back and they put a price in my mailbox pretty much within a couple of hours. They sealed it and then it actually rained unexpectedly, so it got all messed up and I called the guy and he came back the next day and fixed it perfectly.

I was pleased with the job. It was a hot day and they still did a good job.

I had heard about Hicks from a friend who thought they were pretty god and had done a lot of work in the area. I asked for an estimate on their web site. A day later I received a call to set up a time for their salesman to take a look and prepare the estimate. Sam Hicks III arrived, looked at driveway, measured it with a walking measure, prepared the 15 day estimate and walked me through it. He described what would happen on the day they arrived, how long it would take and how long we would have to stay off of it (few days just for driving over it longer if you are going to park on it). They are insured, registered by the state and do both commercial and residential work. Their warranty is for one year. I had another estimate from another company I didn't like very much for $3400, so the price was very good and I was much more comfortable with Hicks because there was no hard sell approach - it was very professional and confident. I accepted and signed the estimate and two days later the job was done The work was done while I was on a trip and upon returning home it was perfect. No seams, smooth, my pavers lining the driveway were clean and undamaged, very little loose asphalt bits, no asphalt on the grass and no damage to the property. I followed up with a question and Sam answered immediately. He recommends that we get the driveway sealed in September after it settles in. A good experience. I see that Hicks is now doing more work around the neighborhood!

They called back and arranged the job in less than 48 hours after I accepted the estimate. The said they would arrive at 8am, and trucks (LOTS of them) started arriving at 7:45. The crew was polite, and the owner and his son were polite and engaging. The work was done FAST, and looks great. Nice attention to detail, raising my slate walkway to the front door to make it match the driveway height. I requested the material excavated for the driveway enlargement be placed at the side of the driveway so I could use it as fill, and they accommodated me without question.

They've paved my driveway, my neighbors, and my daughter-in-law's driveway. I checked with many places and this company was the best.

Hicks talked a great game but did not honor their guarantee....Told me when their work was crumbling that " that happens". If that indeed happens , they could have told me initially. Sam Hicks, the president of the company was rude, nasty , and told me to read the fine print on the contract. Use any one but Hicks.. i don't know how they stay in business...
