but as a result of his actions When Mike showed up with his assistant, he was very unkempt, dirty, kept showing his butt crack, more than a human can bear, as he was very overweight and poorly dressed. His constant mouthing off about the parts I had replaced that they were junk and one shouldn't do something that they knew nothing about. (I had purchased the parts through a nearby plumbing supply house that I had used for the past 19 years, that is used by most of the professional plumbers in the area) I had used this house to purchase other plumbing needs, parts, boiler parts, seals, etc.Mike advised me after he had found the open (a wire broken off) a few feet underground, he would replace it. I had also asked him to adjust the water pressure, as the pressure was still low in the house) He took off the wires to the pump control, and replaced the wires with small pieces of wire without a ground (totally against the National Electrical Code) I asked him to replace them with the two wire with a ground to assure safety. He advised me that it will still work. These wire were not even shielded as they should have been. They were different colors, other than the black and white normally found in proper wires. He used single red and a single black wire without a ground. He then advised me that he didn't carry any wire with him, even though his bill reflected a charge of approximately $400 for wire that he did not have. When I again asked about the uneven water pressure, he then cursed again, and kept sparking my pump control, and I later found out that due to his ineptitude, had broken one of my circuit breakers to the well, which was previously intact. He charged me $600, for about an hours worth of work. I then asked him to come back to correct the bad exposed wiring that he had created, a fire hazard to say the least. I had to call him several times to repair the shoddy and unacceptable work he had done. He never even fixed the water pressure, but as a result of his ineptitude, I had to replace both the circuit breaker and another pump control, cost of time, money and travel that I had to use. I WILL NEVER EVER USE THEM AGAIN UNLESS I TAKE THEM to COURT, AND NEITHER SHOULD ANYONE ELSE USE THEM FOR YOUR OWN GOOD. I only used all F's for this company, as there was not a lower score that I could give them on this site.
Description of Work: I had used this company about 14 years ago when I was in the home just a few years. I knew quite a bit about electricity, as I had rewired and totally updated my prior 100+ year old home. However I never had a well, and I did not know a lot about it, except to replace the (special fuse) for the pump when we had a lightning strike, and check the wiring inside the home. At that time the water pump was about 6 years old, and when I called Ackerson, a man and his helper showed up, diagnosed a broken wire underground and recommended to me that I should replace the whole pump, as the pump was close to it's life expectancy. ( a complete lie) So instead of repairing the wire underground for $200, I foolishly was talked into replacing the pump at an approximate cost of $1,400. The company kept all of the 400+ feet of copper wire that they had cut out, I was not given the opportunity to keep it, and they tore out and completely damaged the $60 new fuse box that I had just installed. They then put in an inferior pump that did not have a fuse ( to prevent shorts, or opens) with a 2 wire system instead of the original 3 wire system that was originally installed. When they dug up the old pipes, disconnected the wiring which was held on with tapes to the plumbing (400') of tubing, they re-attached the tape to hold the wiring at 8', to more often 10' to the pipes, when the original taping was done every 6'. The original way was to protect the wiring every 6 feet due to vibration, movement, and safety, and probably regulatory NEC code. When I realized that they were short changing me on the tape, I asked for them to put it every 6 feet as it was before. they advised that they would do same, and then proceeded to put the taping about every 10' as before.I had foolishly called them again approximately 6/1/12, this year as one of the wires was open (damaged) inside the well. supposedly, I also had a problem with water pressure. I replaced a pump control (pumptrol) connecting tubing, and a rusted pressure gauge. to permit the pumptrol to keep the water pumping without spurting high then low. As the problem was with the wiring underground, I did not have the tools necessary to open and go down below the surface.
