Ray Brown Jr Services LLC

I hired Ray Brown Jr in 2012 to finish the basement in my home including framing, electrical, tile flooring, drywall, painting and stair installation. As a term of the agreement, all work was to conform to code. In addition, Ray was to obtain all inspection approvals. On Aug 28, 2012, Ray sent me an email indicating the rough electrical work passed the inspection. On August 31, 2012, he sent emails stating that he obtained all other approvals. Upon this notification, I paid Ray the balance of the money due to close out the project. In June 2015, when trying to sell our home, we discovered that Ray never obtained the approvals. We then asked the town inspectors to inspect the work Ray completed in 2012, in an attempt to get final approval. Both electrical and building inspections failed. The electrical inspector detailed the issues not conforming to code as ALL outlets having open grounds, 3 missing receptacles, no electrical plan or rough inspections approved. I contacted Ray to ask for the documentation supporting his claim that the approvals were granted. When he could not produce any documentation, I asked for the contact information for the electrician that Ray used to complete the work in 2012. He provided the name ?Larry at Power Pro Electric in Harmony, NJ?. When I was unable to find any trace of Larry or his business, Ray said he died and no record existed of his business or his business affairs. As a result, I had to pay a licensed electrician more than $1,000 to correct the work and bring it to code. I asked Ray to reimburse me, but he refused. I filed complaints with both the NJ Dept of Consumer Affairs and the Better Business Bureau.

I didn't like it at all. He was not actively engaged as far as I'm concerned. He had a couple of guys who showed up here and showed up with the wrong materials at first. They had to redo some work late in the Fall that some of the molding that he did came undone. Every time I called him, he seemed annoyed that I called him.

They never contacted me about my purchase. I have decided not to use the deal.

When we cashed out an account to keep the check from being fraudulently cashed, he found it and tried cashing it without telling us. He then again went through Facebook to harass my wife about the situation and accusing us of purposefully not paying him.(It was a cashier style check) In the end I refunded the account the check was for and he was paid the next day. I will not be using him again. He is condescending, rude and uses social media to harass customers.

furnace exhaust motor failed at the end of 2/14. I called and spoke with the sec. who said ray could get the motor if I supplied them with our furnace's info. this was to eliminate a visit just for the model # etc. after a couple days pass I called back and response was he was away and is working on it. after another week with no heat for our sleeping area, I called again and was told another day or two. So after two weeks without heat I ordered the motor online and installed myself. I still have not heard from them a month later.

2 gentleman arrived in company van. Both primarily spanish speaking. One spoke english. Ray arrived via personal vehicle shortly thereafter. Work was done in a professional manner, job was bigger than anticipated, stayed until work was complete and I was satisfied. Cost more than original quote. As far as punctuality is concerned they cancelled on first day after missing time window. Called 1 hour past time to be there to cancel. Next day arrived 1.5 hour after 2 hour window they provided.

Ray Brown Jr Services LLC sends his workers out. They did not speak English very well, but we were able to communicate though and they did the work well. Was a bit disappointed that I did not get to meet with Ray though.

I had signed up for the One-Call maintenance plan. The came once and cleaned the vents. There were things that they noticed needed to be fixed and we agreed they would provide an estimate for it. They never showed up after that. That was in November. I contacted the owner in December and asked for a refund. He assured he'd handle it himself. Never heard back. In February, I sent an email asking for a refund and he tells me they do not issue refunds, the plan HAS to be in effect until Nov 2014. At that point, I was no longer interested in having them work perform the services. Whatever you do, stay FAR away from their yearly maintenance plan.

Purchased big deal in Sept or Oct services provided in January.

they were horrible, lied, 'lost the estimate' , showed up late, used illegal labor, and now i have to do it over again, would not recommend. Pulled the 'oh now that we're here it's more' trick |bunch of thieves, in my opinion

They are great. It couldn't have been better. It is kind of a difficult job. They got it done quickly and efficiently, and I didn't have to be here, I left the check. They took care of everything. No mess. It was perfect. I think they did the best quality job. I would absoutely use their services again in the future.

Ray Brown Jr. came to my house when he said he would be there. This was a late day emergency - no water from any faucets. He troubleshot the situation, found the solution and fixed the problem in a very reasonable amount of time and at a very fair price.

I would say the work was not done so cannot discuss about the work.....

Prompt, professional, ready to perform other unplanned services. No attempt to jack prices - just does what's really needed. Advised on another problem with a septic odor and how it was something I could clear myself.

Discovered a leak in my well pump on a Saturday. I called Ray. He was at my house within an hour and provided me with an estimate. He came back a few hours later and installed the new well pump. His price was reasonable. He was very professional. He cleaned up, so you would never have known he was there. I was very impressed with his work ethic and professionalism. I will definitely use him in the future and recommend him to my friends.

I don't remember the names of the people that I did contact but I talked to 3 or 4 people like within 24 hours and two of those call me back within two or three days I think. The first 2 that called me back are very nice because it was Saturday when I called them. I have my back off against the wall because my insurance company had wanted something fix and they didn't really gave me time to get it done. Everybody that I called couldn't do it because there was just not enough time but this guy, Ray Brown Jr., he does even live in the area, my property is in New Jersey and he lives in some place down towards the shore. He called me within 12 minutes between the time I called him. I explain the situation to him and I didn't have any pictures or anything to show him. All I was doing is to tell him what the tenant had told me. I live in Alabama and my property is in New Jersey because that is where I used to live. He told me that he was gonna go over the next day. He gave me a minimum and maximum of what the bill would be according to what I said to him and he haven't seen the property yet. When he got there, it was worth than what I had explain to him because it was 2 family house and I ask the person who live in the side. Would the insurance company wanted some repairs. I also ask the person from the other side ans she told me that it was more damage than what other person that told me. It was a little bit more expensive than what I thought it was going to be but I again I haven't seen the property. He did some other things that needed to be done that I didn't know about so according to the person in the other side when I called here to tell that her the he would probably be coming over, he was already there. He was there like tomorrow morning. She told me that when she look at the door, there was a truck and people were getting out. Within 15 minutes, they have started the work. She said that there were people everywhere. They got out and they got to work and they finish the job. I thought it was okay and it's gonna take them a day or so. The shingles on the house were old and he put new shingles which she said that they did an excellent job and they were very polite when they got out on the truck. They came to the house and knocked on the door. Shown her his badge and introduce people that are working with him. They told her that they would be there until the work was done and call me back to tell that it was finished. When they got finished, they cleaned up their mess. You couldn't even tell that they had been there. I paid them, I was supposed to let the insurance company know by sending the invoice through fax. He did a good job and I was pleased with it.

He's and idiot! For years we were told we needed a new furnace. Never had a problem with the furnace but we needed a new one. After so many complaints that this guy was raking people over the coals on repairs and needless replacements, Farm Bureau finally replace him with someone else. The new guy told us there was nothing wrong with our furnace. it continued work fine for years, we did finally replace in 2012 only for more energy efficiency. I've know him previously at another job i held, this guy is bad news. When i saw the previous review i had to comment, no one deserves to be taken by him. Stay far away!!

All went well, called and scheduled, they came, did the job and all is great.

Before this provider had a chance to provide any service, they were an hour late to show up to give me an estimate. That hour occurred between 8:00 AM and 9:00 AM which caused me to be late for work. I had explicitly told this vendor that if they were going to be late that they needed to call me. At 8:10 when they had not yet arrived for an appointment that was scheduled for between 7:30 and 8:00, I decided to call their office. I received a voice mailbox and left a message. At 8:23 I received a text message saying they were on the way from Hackettstown, which should be no more than about 20 minutes. At 8:45 I received a phone call from the workers on the truck saying they'd be there in 10 minutes. I told them not be be more than 10 minutes more...I was very frustrated at this point. At 9:00 AM when they had not yet arrived I pulled out of my driveway just as they were arriving. I told them they were too late. From my perspective, if a vendor can't keep an appointment on time, and doesn't have the decency to call when they will be late, especially when that call was explicity requested...they don't get the chance to do the work.

The two fellows were professional and polite....they brought their own lunch and I gave them cold spring water.......it was a very hot and humid day....the bathroom was beautiful when they were done and they cleaned up nicely they came a good distance and ran into a lot of traffic to my house......I would certainly love to do business again with Mr. Ray Brown
