He snaked our sewer out to about 100ft before he hit an obstruction and was able to remove some roots from the pipe and get our sewer line flowing again. Unfortunately, he wasn't able to get everything as he was concerned that at that long distance the equipment could become damaged and potentially break off in the sewer line. He suggested that I call around for quotes to have that section of pipe replaced and have a new clean out installed somewhere in the middle of our front yard to be able to snake it from a closer distance in the future. Our other option would be to have General Sewer come back out and try water jetting it, which is more effective at such a long distance, but he did suggest that the first option would be our best way to g.o. Water jetting and a video inspection would have been $1,800.00 which seems like an insanely high price to me. After the root ball was pulled out he suggested using copper sulfate in the pipe to further kill the roots. I went to Home Depot and bought some Zep root killer and poured that down the sewer. After searching online last night I found about RootX which is a foaming root killer and is supposed to be much more effective since it will reach all sides of the pipe instead of just the bottom. I wish I had used that since it's supposed to be used within an hour or two of cutting the roots. Rootx could only be purchased from plumbers and the manufacturers list General Sewer as a reseller... I'm not sure why he didn't suggest it as I've read nothing but good things about the product. Overall he was a great guy that answered all of my questions, and I probably would use him again if my sewer line wasn't so long.

We discovered a clog in the basement bathroom on a Saturday afternoon, so the positive was that after I called, he showed up within an hour and 1/2. He was a sloppy unprofessional man ( although I do understand he cleans drains and was probably working all day), however after looking at the situation, he went to his truck and came in the front door rolling a soaking wet filthy truck tire through my living room, kitchen and down the carpeted steps to the basement. When I asked him why he was rolling this huge soaking wet dirty tire through the living room he said sarcastically, "because the cable is inside". We were desperate to have the work done, so we put up with his negative nature, (told us to cut down our beautiful tree on the front lawn, because it was going to cause us problems) When he finished the work , he said he had "probably" repaired the problem, he hit us with a bill of $480.00, and said clearly, and wrote on his bill, NO GUARANTEE! Stay clear of this company. I'm sure there are better ones out there.
