Description of Work: We recently moved from Wyckoff, NJ to Washington, IL. The entire moving process was amazing. Everyone associated with the move was professional and courteous. I highly recommend Holman Moving Systems located in Hackensack, NJ. An added benefit-nothing was broken.

+ -1 moreI got several estimates for our move from NJ to FL. Even though Holman's estimate was by far the highest we went with them because our neighbors had recently used them to move several states away, and they had had a good experience. The final weight was 600-700 lbs less than the estimate. While we did get some money back, the cost would have been cheaper if the weight estimate had been more accurate from the get go. In fact, one of the other estimates we had received had estimated the weight almost exactly. Overall, I was happy with the work that was done on the NJ side. The packers, loaders, Greg (sales), Lynda (coordinator), and Kevin (driver) were all professional and easy to work with. Overall, I am giving them a B instead of A because I was not as happy with the United unloaders in FL. They damaged one of our nightstands and my china cabinet because they were not paying attention to what they were doing. I'm in the process of getting them repaired through the claims process. That said, our driver was at both locations and he was great to work with!

Description of Work: Used Holman to move from Cliffside Park, NJ to San Diego, CA. Holman by itself probably rated a B+ to A-. The rep Greg Lefkowitz was responsive, and adjusted the price according to various options we presented him. The NJ-side moving crew was fast, careful, and courteous. Final price was a few hundred dollars above "guaranteed price," but nothing outrageous. The problems were on the West Coast side, with Holman's partner in the Universal Van Lines network, which made the final delivery. They broke one custom made coffee table beyond repair, and scratched our dining table because of improper loading. Yes, the furniture was insured, but the payout was not enough to buy anything close to the original.

+ -1 moreMy interactions with Holman were excellent, from first contact to unloading at my new home. The salesman/move estimator, Greg Lefkowitz, really had me sold on Holman from the outset (I had a sample of about 8 competitors). Holman accommodated some major changes - date, location - with no problem. The move coordinator, Lynda Lane, was very helpful throughout. The moving crews at both ends were just wonderful, and efficient. Would I use them again? You bet!!
Description of Work: Loaded my household goods in Jersey City, NJ - a 4-man crew did so very quickly and professionally, in the rain - and unloaded same, including some setup, in Morehead City, NC - a 3-man crew did so, also very quickly and professionally. Everyone was friendly, and attentive to business.

Description of Work: We called to get an estimate for our move from New Jersey to North Carolina. He came to our house and gave us on the spot estimate. We like the price but we found another company that can move us in less than a week. I would still recommend this company because they are very professional and punctual.

+ -1 moreWhen we decided to go with another firm, Greg Lefkowitz was very gracious about our decision and wished us well. One word of advice. Plan your move well ahead of time if you want to move in the peak months of June and July. Since no one in our family had moved in close to 30 years, we were a bit naïve about how far in advance you need to schedule a mover to fit your schedule.
Description of Work: I was the person in charge of moving my mother from a 3-bedroom house in NJ to a 3-bedroom condo in OH. I joined Angie’s list specifically to be able to research potential movers and met with 3 companies to interview them and secure prices. One of those firms was Holman Moving Systems. Although we were impressed with them, we ultimately went with another mover who could better accommodate our desired moving date. We enjoyed working with Greg Lefkowitz, Holman’s Director of Business Development. He was courteous, professional, and gave us an estimate on the spot. He was also very patient with all of our questions and responsive to our follow-up e-mails. In all of our dealings with him, he instilled confidence in us that the move would be done right. Also, the firm’s Web site is informative and professional. While I would recommend you talk to Holman about your upcoming move, one word of caution. Each of the three movers we interviewed were given the same inventory list of items to work from. The estimated weight of the items to be moved varied widely – over 3,000 pounds – and Holman’s weight estimate was the highest.

+ -1 moreVery well. Holman worked with our building, delivered the furniture and art work to our apartment, and helped us unwrap the shipment. The crew of two women and two men was friendly and professional.
Description of Work: Holman, a United Van Lines agent, handled the last part of a move of furniture and art work from the San Francisco Bay Area to Manhattan. The original pickup and packing was handled by Crown Movers, another United Van Lines agent.
