We design, sell, and install fireplaces, inserts, stoves, gas logs, mantels, glass doors and gas logs. We have a large showroom with many burning displays along with fireplace accessories, grills and outdoor firepits.

The whole process was a headache. I had to constantly follow up with them and if I didn't, it'd take forever. I ordered the fireplace on 2/18/15 and still haven't had the fireplace installed by their recommended installers yet.

It is with great regret that I am responding to this post being fully aware of the well documented circumstances as they happened. We certainly understand that everyone has valid feelings and perceptions of a situation and we would never disregard those feelings, but there are always two sides to every story. All of our Customers are very important to us, as we are very aware that the Customer Service you provide is a direct reflection on a company. We have always tried to conduct business keeping that in mind. We would certainly, however, never try to claim that missteps don't happen, even under the best of circumstances. In those cases, we do everything we can to rectify them. Each situation is different based on how simple or involved the requested work to be done is. A more involved installation, such as this one was, requires various documents, permits and processing time through the Township. All of this is time consuming. We worked hand in hand with the Installer to make the process as easy as possible but it seems that has not been taken into consideration. It is important to also note that incorrect information has been included, as the Fireplace was not ordered until 2/26 and the installation was completed IN FULL on May 13th. It is very easy for someone to sit in front of a computer and express an opinion which reflects negatively on a business. Sadly, it is hard for a business to overcome what others may believe from that post, or recognize that there are always two sides to every story. Bought the grill, no earlier than 2006, but probably later. Burners have not worked well the last couple of years so I decided to replace them. Turns out this Vermont Castings Grill, which now goes for $1300, takes non standard replacement burners that can only be bought through dealers. Most replacement burners can be bought for $10 or less each. THese start at $40 plus tax and shipping. I stopped in to see about getting new ones to Abers. They were real pleasant. Said I would hear from them> days pass and they call and say they can get one (not 3) at the above price. Grill is going in the garbage. Horribly disappointing that you think you buy something of good quality from a local vendor and it doesn't last and its expensive to repair.

Dear Mr. [removed member name], It is truly regrettable that you have graded Alber's Fireplaces with a C since we are a Retail Store and not the Manufacturer of the product who, as in all cases, is the responsible party for their product. After being in business for 38 years we do, however, feel a great responsibility in servicing our customers at the highest level possible. I did review your original purchase for the Vermont Castings Grill made on June 2, 2006 at a cost of $550.00 which included the Grill Cover and Bar-B-Q Brush. In 2008 Vermont Castings was sold and unfortunately the company that purchased it did not honor any warranties prior to that date. We have worked very hard for all of our customers to provide parts and assist in warranties whenever possible. However, as I stated, we are not the Manufacturer and have no control over the policies they make. In most all cases, the Retail Store that sells a certain Brand does not issue the Warranty for the product which is always issued by the Manufacturer. It did take a few days to research your situation and inquire through several of our Distributors as to whether we could get the burners for your Grill. Since the Grill is 8 years old they were no longer producing the Burners for it which is why we were only able to find one, through much research. I certainly understand your frustration and wish Vermont Castings still produced the product, however, after a longer period of years have passed, it is sometimes difficult to provided parts from the Manufacturer. Sadly, it is difficult for me to understand why you felt the need to grade Alber's Fireplaces as you did. With the economic situation our country has been in over the last five years, the Small Business has been hit very hard. A review like this makes that situation even more difficult. The Internet has made it very easy for people to sit at their computers and express whatever opinion they would like. In a case like this, it puts a blemish on the Retail Business itself when it is the Product and Manufacturer of it that you are dissatisfied with. It is very disheartening for a Small Business just trying to keep their customers happy. Alber's Fireplaces has worked very hard to continue to provide our customers with a high level of service. We receive so many calls from people who never purchased from us telling us the store they bought it from is out of business or never called back after 4 weeks. We always try our hardest to help those customers in need also. Again, I understand your frustration and offer my apologies. I hope you will contact me if you would like to discuss this further. I was unsure how to replace them. I found Alber's Fireplaces through Angie's List. My experience overall was great. They were very professional and made the process seem seamless. I didn't realize how many options I would have in replacing my fireplace doors but they everything seem simple and easy. The only thing that may be an hiccup for some is that they only install on Monday's. So I had to make sure I was home from work the day of installation.
Description of Work: Alber's Fireplaces replaced my shattered fireplace glass doors with new doors.
