Jamar Home Remodeling

I contracted Jamar to install Anderson Woodright windows in my house. They also installed a door to a deck. I do commercial real estate managment for a living and have dealt with commercial contractors for 30 years. Residential is a different animal. I feared that they would be unprofessional and do a job where we had to call them back and they woudln't come. My fears were unfounded with Jamar. They showed up with a crew of good people. They treated my home with respect and as if it were their own. They were clean and very careful not to put a nick in the wall or wood floors. They covered the carpet. They cleaned and left no debris anywhere. They replaced a kitchen window that was sitting on a soap stone counter top and back splash. If they put even a scratch in the stone my wife (who didn't want to do the work - she felt the old windows were better) would have let me hear it till death. I told the guys to be careful and they didn't do any damage to the stone. The installation was perfect. The crew was great. They all spoke English and were excellent and very professional. Before the work started, I asked Jamar for a Certificate of Insurance naming me as an additional insured - a standard practice in commerical construction. They had their agent issue a cert for me and I had it in an hour. The fellow I dealt with in the proposal process was Greg. I didn't know that Greg and his father owned the company. Greg took me through the whole proposal process and also was there working the whole time. His father, Jim, showed up while the work was going on. I could tell immediately that he was a pro and knew the business. I am really happy that I chose Jamar. Also, the craftsmanship of the workers was first rate. I am very pleased. I would use them again and have contracted them to put new siding on my house and to replace the gutters. When they come to do that work, I am not even going to be around. I am going to go to work and let them do their thing. I won't even think twice about it during the day. I know they will treat my house, lawn and driveway with care. And one last thing, I want to thank Angie and her List for putting us together.

They did an excellent job, very professional, great attention to detail. They responded to all questions and calls. They scheduled promptly and were on time, did a great job and cleaned up great afterwards. I was worried about such a big job--but there was absolutely nothing to worry about. GREAT JOB! I do not write many reviews, but I felt I just had to for this company. I tell all my friends about them now!

From start to finish, this was a remarkably smooth process. Greg came out to evaluate our current windows and to estimate what it would cost us to replace them. He paid great attention to what we were looking for. In addition to hearing our ideas, Greg also provided some of his own ideas; he really has great vision. Within a few days, I received a copy of the estimate, which really spelled out everything that was going to be done, and at what cost. The installation went very well. Greg and Mario worked professionally and efficiently. The project took two (2) days. In one day, the windows ( American Jewel [Series 1700]: 11 double hung, 1 quad casement, 2 awning windows, and 1 glider. Andersen: 1 casement) were replaced. On the next day, all the window wrapping, caulking, and trim was done (exterior and interior). I was, and still am, thrilled with the end product; they truly did a beautiful job! If you are considering replacing windows in your home, I highly recommend Jamar Construction.

This belated review is for the job done about a year ago. I had three quotes for the siding work and chose JAMAR as their price to value ratio appeared to be the best. Jim was really good at communicating details and expectations of the project. He explained all the choices of siding materials, pros and cons, provided samples for consideration and also emailed pics of projects done recently for visual comparison. As I am an engineer, I know how important to get all the aspects into consideration and know the details before making the decision. Once the contract is signed (he never pushed on contract), the installation timing was set to ~ 4 weeks after. The actual installation done a couple of weeks later than planned time due to bad weather and their busy schedule (all communicated promptly). But once it starts, the project progressed smoothly and completed on time. All the workers showed up early in the morning and worked hard throughout the day. All the workers does not speak English (well) except the head. All the communication was done through the head. Jim showed up every day to inspect progress and further communicate needs to make sure work were done correctly and satisfying. Upon completion, the house looks completely new and attractive. I got tons of compliments from my neighbors and even people passing by. They are willing to take extra time and effort to correct things whenever it is pointed out. I had found two pieces of plywood are rotten but not replace after the wrap and insulation have been put on. I told the head and he immediately called Jim, who then brought material for repair the same day. They opened up the area for repair and re-wrap and insulated it. Gutters and leaders are installed by another company, which cares about customer as well. They checked with me about colors I want to use for the leaders to make sure all come together with the best results. Even after the project is done for more than 6 months, I had consulted and got Jim's reply when I found some icicles hanging from the new soffit panel after the brutal weather we had last winter. The only thing I had to point out is the small repair for the stucco. I did not find out this part had not been done until the day before the project was supposed to be wrapped up. It seems that Jim forgot this part as it was a tiny part of the whole project. After the reminder, he quickly went to get the material and had the workers started repairing. Due to the fact that cement had to be left dry for more than 24 hrs, I have to paint it myself. It is not a big deal as the work only takes about 20 min to finish. It maybe a good idea to go through all the details of the project one more time the day it starts to ensure everything is covered. Overall, I am very satisfied and had recommended JAMAR to my friend who recently consult me for a siding contractor.

I have used them twice now and they are good. Their work was good. I have no complaints. They were professional, their price had been at the higher end of the range but they were good and they seemed to care about the work they do. They take pride in the work that they do.

Greg from Jamar came to our house to give us an estimate for the renovation of our enclosed porch. He thoroughly explained all of our options and exactly what they would do. I received an estimate by email and by regular mail a few days later. The estimate was very detailed and described and listed everything they would do and of course how much it would cost. The estimate included two different price options for different windows. After accepting the contract and providing a down payment our 4-6 week installation window began. We got a call from Jamar less than a month later and scheduled the job. Jim, Greg and their crew showed up on time and began the renovation/transformation. Greg and Mario systematically deconstructed and reconstructed each wall as only true professionals can. Because of the existing rot in the main support beams, all of the electrical had to be replaced. Greg made a call to one of his electricians (Bob) and he showed up the next day. On day two Greg and Mario continued building the walls and began the installation of a few of the windows. Bob arrived and carefully explained my electrical options. He was an experienced professional and listened to my suggestions for additional outlets and worked out a plan to accomplish all of my electrical needs. As any electrical was not included in the original estimate, Bob gave me an additional estimate for the new electrical installation. The estimate was very fair and I accepted. Bob began working immediately. Bob, Greg and Mario worked well as a team and after day 2 all of the old windows and rotted wood were taken away and we were well on our way to having a new porch. On day 3 work continued on varied fronts including trim and insulation inside and out. In addition, siding was cut and installed on the outside. Bob continued his electrical work and would finish by days end. Greg and Mario would need one more day. The final day included more trim, caulking and siding work. As the job came to a close the crew cleaned up everything, sweeping the area and picking up whatever scraps they could find. Once everything was finished it looked beautiful. Jamar had transformed the enclosed porch into an entirely new living area. Besides being really good at what they do, Jim, Greg, Mario and Bob are really good people. (even my wife liked them!) I would hire them again in a minute with the confidence that every aspect of the project would be completed professionally and in a timely manner.

The owner (Jim) and I had a little trouble communicating in the beginning as we kept missing each other's calls but once we were able to get on the same page, everything went great. My house was built in the 1940's and the windows were old wooden, single pane ones that badly leaked cold/hot air. I also had some windows in my garage that had a lot of dry rot and my insurance company was pushing for them to be replaced right away. I had 3 different styles of windows replaced (16 in total). The windows were ordered in November and installed in early January. The Jamar crew did a great job, and was very good at cleaning up after themselves. In addition to replacing the windows I had asked them to repair some siding which they added in at no cost while another contractor had quoted $3,000 for the same work. The work took 2 days to complete, and while they were onsite the first day, I asked them to quote on replacing a bedroom door that had a hole in it. They gave me a fair quote and managed to get that work done the next day as well.

The work went very well. Jim and the team were prompt, professional, and the work was done over two days, one of which was new year's eve! In retrospect, I somewhat wish that I had chosen the 1700 series or higher, but that is not a reflection on Jim or JAMAR - it's just my own wish looking back. The windows JAMAR installed look great, and are much cleaner and clearer than what I had (I had the original single-pane wood windows - my house was built circa 1940). I am not all that experienced, but as far as I can tell they did an excellent job with the installation, and I have noticed an improvement in the warmth upstairs in my house - plus it's also quieter. There was no change in pricing or surprises from what the original estimate and agreements were. Jim came out both days of the work, to make sure things got off to a good start, and then to ensure that everything was done properly and bring me the warrantee and other documentation. Overall, I was just really pleased with Jim and Greg and the JAMAR team. I chose them based on other Angie's List reviews, and I was not disappointed. I would definitely recommend them and would consider using them again for other projects.

My overall experience with Jamar was wonderful! They were responsive, prompt, professional, talented (I have an old house), and courteous. I would definitely, and without reservation, use them again. My back door, doorway, and windows were in bad shape and there was water damage all around. The entire door frame jiggled when you opened and closed the door. Greg, from Jamar, came out to take a look at the door and windows the day after I called to schedule an appointment. He was on a job in my neighborhood and was able to visit me promptly. He took a look at the problem, listened to my concerns, and was able to give me an estimate--with three possible options--the very next day. We began the process in November and I had a beautiful door and windows installed in time for Christmas. An added plus was that Jim, from Jamar, was there to oversee the entire installation and make sure that everything was as it should be. What a dream! Pick up the phone and call now!

Amazing experience. We had two custom sized doors replaced and installed. From helping us find non standard sized custom door manufacturer to installation, the process was wonderful. Installation was seamless and quality of work is top notch. Very happy with Jamar and already planning more projects with them.

Replaced old wood siding with Hardie plank siding, replaced gutters, some windows, and three exterior doors. Everything went very smoothly and the work was done with the highest quality. This is the second time we have used Jamar and they are the only contractor that we have ever been happy with. One of the windows was delivered in a different configuration than ordered. They found a way to correct it the next day rather than waiting for five weeks. Also, there was a storm coming, so they worked extra long hours and even came in on Saturday to make sure we could get our gutters put in on time. They go above and beyond to make sure you are completely happy. The finished product looks great!

First of all I want to say that Jim is a pleasure to work with. He was the only provider who responded from Angies list. He promptly went to the service address and gave me an estimate. He also spoke to my brother to agree upon pricing. Work was finished in one day. The tenants praised both Jim and his staff for their courtesy and professionalism. The work looks great, everything was cleaned up nicely. I highly recommend them.

Everything was good. So far so good. I think they are very professional. I would rate them highly, and I would recommend them.

The job was approved by my insurance. They did the job I asked and they did it good.

From start to finish I was extremely satisfied. I received a few quotes and Jim's estimates were similar to some others but his professionalism sold me. He did everything he said in a timely manner. He showed up at my house every day to check on his workers and ensured the work was properly done. He coordinated all parts of the job, got the permits and all in all the house looks incredible. I love everything he did and I would completelyrecommend his company. He is also a very honest guy. He were planning to do other work and he actually said it wasnt needed and saved us some money as well. GREAT GUY AND GREAT WORK!!!!!

The contractor arrived at his specified time. His crew worked quickly and efficiently. Jim made it a point to stop by and see how things were going. He provided help where needed. At the conclusion, a sincere effort to clean the premises, make sure everything fit perfectly, and insure our satisfaction with the work performed.

The work was done promptly and with very high quality. Started on Monday, completed by Friday. I had a few questions at the start to make sure we got what was wanted, and Jim was able to come over quickly and respond. Everything turned out very well.

They were just great! Very professional and trustworthy. They took longer to get to the job than I had anticipated but it turned out I wasn't in a hurry after all. When they came, I couldn't have been more pleased. They rebuilt the framing and the door is now solid and level. They completely finished all the trim work and did everything with careful concern for my home and floors. It was quality work all the way and Bruce and Mario worked fast, efficiently and with great skill. I highly recommend them...and I can see why they are busy. I took a star off for the price... but really they were worth it.

All of the work was done within 4-5 days. The workers arrived by 7:30am each day and worked full days which enabled the job to be completed more quickly although there was a lot to do. The final result looked professionally done, clean up was performed on a daily basis, and we have received very complimentary comments by several neighbors. We were very satisfied with the end result and would recommend Jamar for anyone needing siding replacement, help with replacing doors which were not standard-sized and needed to be specially ordered, and replacement of window trims.

I used Jamar Home Remodeling, his name is Jim and he was very good. He came when he said he was supposed to come. He gave us an estimate. He did the work that he said he was going to do. They cleaned up. I would use them again. Their prices were reasonable. He was excellent.

They provided financing which was six months with zero interest. The work was good and dealing with the gentleman was also good.

Jim and his company are the most professional contractors I have ever dealt with. He was very responsive and easy to work with. From start to finish he did not rush us but when work did get started, they worked quickly, cleanly and with great attention to detail. We were very satisfied with their workmanship and price.

Work was done very professionally. Clean-up was superb. Guys were very protective about my floors and furntiture.

Jim called me back that night said he would call me in a day or two to arrange for a call to estimate, Over two weeks and no return call. Won't call them again.

I had a small job to replace aluminum trim on the fascia. Jim was responsive, professional, and gave a fair estimate.
