Jamar Home Remodeling

This could not have been a better or more refreshing contracting experience. Jamar is an exemplary company on all fronts - workmanship, professionalism, conscientiousness, punctuality and price. Owner Jim Catanzaro's son and manager / foreman Greg was my point person from estimate to finish. He was always friendly but professional (as well as a skilled craftsman), and always THERE. From the get go, his estimate was timely and detailed, but easy to understand and surprisingly *under* any of the other competitive estimates I received (which was a big shock since they were the highest rated company) . Never once was I "sold" to or condescendingly told what I should do. I felt listened to which made it more collaborative. Materials were delivered in a timely fashion. When work commenced, my house is an old tudor that posed a lot of unique installation "surprise" problems almost every step of the way. Greg and crew addressed each problem above and beyond the call (and price) of the contract and never came to me to renegotiate or increase the agreed price of the contract. The crew was polite, unobtrusive and cleaned up daily after work was finished. All work was skillfully completed in the time scheduled and everything looks great. Above and beyond: Along the way the crew found issues that needed to be addressed that were outside the parameters of this job. Greg presented the issues and possible solutions without ever making me feel like it was urgent or he was selling more services to me. In fact I had to ask him, "When I get around to it, can *you* guys do that for me?" lol. Also we decided that new doors should be added to the job. When the estimate came back too high for my budget, Greg worked diligently with me to find a satisfactory way to reduce the cost. Full disclosure, I simply didn't have the budget for the doors or further repair but I can tell you that when I do, I won't have anyone but Jamar do the work. The best work, materials and communication for the lowest price? What's to think about?

With any house project one is always concerned with the aggravation during the process. This project was the opposite for us. The Jamar Team was spotless and completed the entire house within the tine duration provided. Our home looks brand new and we couldn't be happier We would reccomend Jamar to any homeowner for any home remodeling work. And by the way, we just asked the back to install a new garage door an pd Windows, they do it all

The Jamar construction team were prompt, very pleasant, professional, and thorough. They did a couple of extra repairs without charge. Definitely would recommend them.

PROS: Jim was great. Professional, Knowledgeable, on-time and detail oriented. His proposals were even better: extremely detailed listing all materials, services, installation techniques etc. which allowed me to feel at ease. Very little, if anything was left to question. Between the great AL reviews and dealing with Jim, I have no doubt Jamar would have done a top notch installation. CONS: Very Expensive. I don't mind paying a premium for quality work, but this was way above my budget and $2,000+ more than the next lowest bid (after negotiations). I researched the material costs at local retail prices which were about $4,800 +/- and did not reflect any contractor discounts. This figure included misc. supplies for framing, interior moldings, exterior j-channels, caulk/foam etc. Labor costs + profit was around $4,000. Install would take < 1 day. I couldn't justify this pricing and Jim wasn't open to negotiating. Jamar seems to be a very good contractor with a great track record, I wish him continued success.

We changed our contract multiple times before the job was started. Each revision request was accommodated and quickly followed by a revised contract. Through experience with various other house projects, we learned that it is important to make sure that your contract covers all work that you are requesting. Jamar fulfilled all contractual obligations to our satisfaction. The crew was very efficient and competent. The owner and project manager made frequent visits to the project site to ensure the quality of the job. We requested a refacing of our cement foundation. Although Jamar does not work with cement foundation, they were willing to subcontract the work to a very good and reliable cement contractor. Small problems were quickly resolved by the owner to our satisfaction. The job came out beautifully. We were very happy with the professionalism of Jamar and highly recommend them!

Greg, Mario and Bruce did a phenomenal job. They worked very efficiently and paid close attention to detail.

He was a no show and didn't even have the decency to give me a call.

In 2011, they quoted a total price of $2086 for four windows by American Jewels. They gave an estimate and they were willing to take a small deposit. They came within a few weeks when they said they're going to do this and install. They were very nice. Everything was done very cleanly. Three years later I had a problem with one window not closing, he came back the very next morning and showed me how to close the window properly and wouldn't take any money. He was very nice. They are very decent and honorable people. Everything was done to perfection.

Once the door came in they wanted to install it in two days, but my schedule didn't permit so I had it installed in a couple of weeks. They arrived on time and quickly got to work. They took off the old door quickly and installed wood to make the top and the sides of the door level. They were very patient and detailed in their work and knew exactly what they were doing. After installing the door, threshold, and cauking it was finished. The difference was so dramatic I wouldn't believe it was same doorway. Previously there were huge gaps, now it is sealed tight on all sides of the door and looks beautiful. They cleaned all the areas after the 3 hours it took to finish the job, which was unbelievable considering the difficult work that needed to be done. The reason i tried them is because i had two windows installed by them and they also did an exellent job. Would highly recommend them, their work is incredible !

Jamar is a great company to deal with. Both Jim and Greg are real professionals who are very fair in their pricing and the quality of the work was great.

The project went great. Jim and his crew did a very professional job. The new living room window and door look beautiful. I'm very pleased with the work. No more drafty window and door. They were meticulous with the work they did. They were easy to work with and responsive to questions. I would definitely use them again and will highly recommend them to friends and neighbors. It went great! I called for an estimate, he came by explained everything to me. Gave me sample homes to actually view the siding he's done in the colors I choose. Once the materials were ordered, he scheduled a date to start work. Took care of the permits and completed the work in a timely and efficient manner. Jim was awesome! He was in constant contact with me, and let me know of anything I asked him. Came on site both days the work was being done. Once finished they cleaned up great and my house looks brand new!! Super happy with job.

This is my third review for Jamar. Let me tell you why I love these guys: Greg and his crew have installed 23 new windows in my home as well as one sliding glass door. This was done in three separate installations over a period of three years - as we were unable to afford to do it all at once. We still have a number of windows to go as well as one more sliding glass door to be replaced and we will definitely have these guys do it once we are able. My previous reviews detail how competitive their pricing is, how well the installations went, and how happy we are with all of our new American Jewel windows as well as the Andersen sliding glass door. What my previous reviews DON'T say is how terrific these guys are on follow-up. Every time I have had an issue or question regarding the windows or screens, either Jim or Gregg has been super quick to respond. Today I had some work done on my roof due to an ice dam, and one of the window screens installed by Jamar a year ago was damaged. The roofing company is willing to fix it - my problem is I could not for the life of me figure out how to remove the screen. I called Gregg, who answered immediately and walked me through how I needed to tilt the windows in and jimmy the screen out. Having done that and thanked Gregg, I realized I had done something wrong and the top window was no longer staying in place. I called Gregg back. Once again he answered immediately and walked me through how I needed to get the window back on its track. Gregg has always been available for whatever questions have arisen over the past three years and has addressed each one with the same patience and professionalism he shows in all his work. I highly recommend Gregg and Jamar. They are the kind of contractor you wish you dealt with all the time: honest, reliable, patient, and professional.

After interviewing 5 contractors, we decided to hire Jamar and we did not regret. Greg spent a lot of time with us helping select siding style and color. Jim was with his crew every day, answering our every annoying question :). The job was done on-time. Reasonable price. No extra cost. I would recommend them to everyone! Great job, Jim and Greg!

Helpful and courteous. Installed anderson woodwright windows quickly and with precision. Windows look great, eliminated draft.

The owners were always very responsive to both emails and phone calls. Jim came to our house for the estimate and brought siding and roofing samples to help us visualize a final look. They also connected us with a great electrician to help move our electrical service on the exterior. The finished look of our house is a night and day improvement. We went from the dog on the block to the envy. I can't say enough about the quality of the Jamar craftsmanship! I would highly recommend their services to anyone seeking similar services.

Have been wanting to write this review for a long time. I had three estimates for the work I wanted done. JAMAR's was not the cheapest or most expensive just the most honest. The other two estimates did not include removal of the old rotted siding. The other two companies said they would put the new siding right over the old siding. They told me it was not necessary to remove but if I wanted it done it would cost several thousand more. Only Jim from JAMAR recommended the removal of the old siding because it was in such bad shape . I wanted the old siding removed. It was a good thing because when they removed the old siding they did find mold on one large corner area of the house and they replaced it at no additional cost. It was built into the contract. When I had difficulty picking out a color Jim directed me to several choices that people were happy with. I was going to go for a lighter grey. He advised me that over time siding tends to fade and I would appreciate the darker grey he recommended. He was right! When discussing insulation he did not push a sale and let me decide if I wanted it or not. He used an insulation contractor. We all have noticed an improvement in the inside temperature of the house. All work was done in a professional and timely manner. Workers were here early in the morning and worked beyond dusk. All debris was cleaned up and removed. Also only a small deposit was required up front. The remaining balance was due upon completion. I paid Jim the balance the Friday before Hurricane Sandy. I thought all that work would simply blow away. It did not. It has weathered many storms since then. It has been two years and I am still quite happy with the job and appreciate the professionalism, the hard work and courtesy that was shown me at all times!

We had a family room, which lacked natural light. At the onset of the project, we weren't sure exactly what to do in the room to bring in more natural light, while not breaking the budget. Jim was very patient and helpful with us as we asked him to give us quotes on many different options. What we ended up doing was perfect, and the once very dark family room has been transformed to a room filled with warm natural lighting. For anyone who has experienced the frustrating process of home renovations, sometimes the biggest challenge of the entire process can be finding someone to do the work! I'm glad we found Jamar. Jim and his team are very professional, skilled, and courteous - and friendly! I felt very comfortable with them working in my home. The project went smoothly, was done in a timely manner, and the outcome was exceptional. I would not hesitate to recommend Jamar. I have already! And I plan on contacting Jim for future projects that need to be done in our home.

Excellent. Greg and crew arrived on time and removed the old windows and installed new ones without a hitch. Strong attention to detail meant everything fit and looked great even though the home is 50 years old and the original windows and sills were rotted. Polite, hard working crew cleaned up afterwards leaving the room spotless. Have used them again with similar fine results.

The installer came on Saturday which was so good since I work. I had things to do that day so i am glad he came 1/2 earlier and got right to work. Very professional, emthodical, and careful not to damage any existing woodwork. Tarp was layed down to ensure a quick cleanup. It didn't take very long about 1 1/2 hours. Very impressed! Would highly recommend them.

It went very well. The providers were professional, on time and the work is excellent!

Jim replied to my email request almost immediately and came to do the work the next day. The price was very reasonable and the work was done quickly and very well. I would definitely use them again!

We hired Jamar after getting several estimates from other contractors. Jim was the only one to suggest that we could replace the window itself without having to remove the entire existing structure. This saved us money and a lot of inconvenience. Jim was also the only one to check the outside of the window, the overhang, etc. The window came in ahead of schedule, the installation was done very efficiently, and it looks great. I would not hesitate to use Jamar again for any contracting work that we may need in the future.

The worker was courteous and professional. He worked meticulously for 2 ½ hours to cut the wooden clapboard and aluminum siding and replace them.

The crew showed up in the morning as expected and started setting up. They did great work and replaced all the damaged materials like the j channel around the windows and the rotted wood under the damaged siding. After they finished it looked like it had never been damaged before and they cleaned up after themselves very thoroughly. Over all it was a fair price for great work. I would use them again in a heartbeat and would most definitely recommend them to anyone who asked me.
