Jamar Home Remodeling

Windows had been scheduled to be replaced on September 22 and 23 of 2011. It turned out that on these 2 days it was raining and on the 23rd it was raining really hard. I had requested that the dates be changed and work be done at another time when the weather was better. they insisted and assured me that they knew what they were doing,that the caulking they use penetrates the water and that their crew needed to work. The work was completed on 9/23/11 and i paid them off in full. A couple of days later someone, that was checking out the windows, pointed out to me that most of the windows had not been caulked on the outside and rain water had gotten under the aluminum. I contacted jim and he came back with one of his workers( Mario) and caulked all the outside windows. Two days after that there were some strong winds and the bottom part of 2 of the windows blew in and one of the glass shattered. it seems like these 2 windows had not been set in their tracts right.. Again Jim returned took out the window with the broken glass and went and got it fixed. With regards to the doors i had to tell them to put a molding around the frame of 2 of the doors as there was like a half inch gap all around. They were going to leave them like that. PS....I would use them again, because they are very nice people. However, knowing what i know now, i would watch them more closely and make sure everything is caulked properly before i would pay them off in full. Also i would not want the job done on a rainy day as the workers didn't really want to get wet working on the outside of the house.

Overall their performance was excellent. Their staff kept me informed of what was going on and advised me along the way. They suggested I replace the shutters on my house since the old ones were in pretty bad shape, they would've put the old ones back on if I wanted but I took their advise and had them install new shutters. They completed the work in three days, cleaned up and put everything back pretty much where it belonged. From the original sales call to completion of the work, I was very happy with this contractor. I'm already thinking about having them install new windows and a new storm door to compliment the new siding. Overall, a great contractor for what they do.

I called several vendors for estimates. Jamar called me back the same day and came over the very next day to get the specs for the estimate. I had the detailed proposal several days later. Their pricing seemed very fair - they gave me a start date and arrived on time on the agreed-upon day. The owner was on site several times a day. The workers were lovely - efficient and neat. The yard was completely cleared at the end of each day - no debris was left. I am extremely happy with the work that Jamar did and highly recommend them.

The sales consultation was my best experience out of all the companies i got a quote from while looking for windows. The salesman from Jamar was informational, professional, and never did i feel like this gentleman was going to spend unnecessary time with the usual "must-sign-now" sales pitch so often seen by windows salesmen. I was very relieved to see that what i had read was true about their pleasant sales approach. The waiting part of getting my windows was a bit longer than i was originally told and a slight lack of responsiveness on updates was starting to get me worried, but i didn't dwell on the delay too much because it kind of worked out at the end and Jim made sure to go with an installation date that worked best for me. Installation day was very smooth - the installation crew arrived right on time as i was told and though small i thought for the number of windows to be installed, they worked efficiently and with minimal disruption considering what they had to get accomplished. The windows have not been tested with wet weather since the installation, but they have certainly been tested with cold days and so far so good. The workmanship looks great both inside and out. I'm very pleased with the overall results.

We had called two other companies before finding Jamar and their stellar ratings and evaluations on Angie's List. We decided to go with Jamar after meeting with their sales rep, Emery, who showed up exactly on time, was patient and professional. He provided us with various options for what we needed done and answered all of our questions and concerns. The best part of our meeting with Emery was that he was not 'hard-sell' at all, and, unlike one of the other companies which came out, he didn't feel it necessary to 'bad-mouth' the competition. He presented us with the facts, with very competitive pricing, and the information we needed to make an informed decision. The actual work was done about two months later - which we had been told in advance would be the case. Greg and Mario came out to do the installation and, like Emery, they were prompt, polite, and professional. These poor guys worked on a cold rainy day without hesitation or complaint... Greg explained everything that they were going to do and was very patient in answering all of our questions. He and Mario were terrific. The whole job took two days to complete (fortunately the weather was better for them the second day). The windows look terrific, work perfectly, and we immediately noticed the difference in how much they cut down on the draftiness of the rooms in which they were installed and how much quieter those rooms are now. It is rare that I have so much good to say about an experience with contractors. From sales to installation to dealing with owner Jim (who could not have been more friendly and helpful) on the phone - these guys set the standard for contractors and are the kind of people you wish you were able to deal with for everything you need to do on your house. We will need additional windows replaced this year and some other work done on the house and we look forward to doing business with Jim and his company again. Thank you Jim, Emery, Greg, Mario (and Pablo who did the capping on the garage door) for an excellent experience and an excellent job!

After having several window replacement companies come to the house, and, after becoming members of Angie's List, we called Jamar. I cannot tell you how much of a pleasure it has been working with this company. Greg, the owner's son, came to the house to provide an estimate and take measurements. He was thorough, professional and very credible. He also put our minds at ease by advising he would be on site during the actual window replacement phase of the project which involved enlargening some window openings to accomodate for larger, prettier, more energy-efficient windows. He listened to our concerns and provided clear options as to what might work/look best with our style of home (Ranch). Being happy with what we heard and saw, we decided to hire Jamar. They showed up on time, were maticulous, and left having performed a wonderful job. I would recommend them in a heart-beat and would definitely hire them again if the need ever arose. If I had to offer up any opportunities for improvement it would be just one...to please just try to respond to email inquiries in a bit more timely manner. Overall, though, this company is TOPS on my list and they are wonderful to work with. THANK YOU, JAMAR CONTRUCTION, FOR HELPING TO BEAUTIFY OUR HOME AND INSTALL MORE ENERGY EFFICIENT WINDOWS! Overall the experience was good. The guys who came out were professional and worked efficiently. They did a great job of finishing the work inside and out.

It looks terrific and we were very happy with the work. All in all, a very positive experience. The only downside? The price was a bit steep, (but not awful) and they left a bit of a mess -- mostly construction dust, which washed away in the next rain. But we would definitely use them again.

I called for an estimate and received it in a couple of weeks. They said I would be scheduled for the work to be done. I did not hear from them for a couple of weeks and I had to call twice over a span of a month to get a date for work to be done. They completed the work in one day.

I found Jamar to be extremely professional and courteous throughout the entire process - from estimate through completion. I am very pleased with the project. I would certainly recommend them in the future.

This company does not do work in Stanhope, NJ Told me you should remove their name from that area

I called up Jamar and spoke with Jim, the owner. We set a date for him to come to my condo and give me an estimate. He arrived on time and took measurements of the windows. He then suggested a brand (American Jewel) and style of window that would be good for me. My condo association requires us to have a certain type and color of window, and he said these would be good. Jim emailed and also sent me a physical copy of the estimate .I decided to hire Jamar for the job (their estimate was $200 less than both Lowes' and Home Depot's initial estimate). They said they would be able to do the job in about 4 weeks, which was fine with me. We set the date for the installation. Unfortunately, my condo association decided to replace the concrete on my front porch the SAME day my windows were to be installed! I called Jim early in the morning and told him there would be other workers here that might get in the way, but both the condo association workers and Jim said they would be able to work around each other, so that was good. Jim arrived on time with 2 other workers, his son Greg and Mario. Greg and Mario did the actual installation. Jim stayed for a while to watch them get started, and came back again later on to check up on things. Greg and Mario did an EXCELLENT job. It was obvious they were very skilled and knew exactly what they were doing. They were very efficient and had the whole job done in a few hours, even with the inconvenience of having to work around the people fixing the porch. I am in the process of doing some other remodeling in my condo, and Greg gave me some suggestions on how to do these other jobs. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Jamar to all my family and friends.

We cannot express enough how great of an experience we had during the entire process. The process began on 3/7/11 and was completed around 3/28/11. Jim Catanzano's son Greg and their work crew began with windows, removing old windows and installing new, then installed the doors. The work was impeccable, neat and clean. The men were very skilled and did a great job! The process of removing the single door and window to install sliding glass doors was impressive - Greg worked on this himself and his work was perfect. Then the siding began - removing old cedar shakes, repairing any water damage, wrapping the house with special paper, then special insulated board, then installing the hardiplank siding to perfection. The trim was done very nicely, and anything we questioned was changed to meet our desires. Jim had contracted out (with Lou Major) for the masonry, and this was worked on during the above work. Lou and his workcrew removed old painted brick from front porch wall, removed porch floor, and old walkway. Over the course of the work above, Lou installed the new cultured stone, poured porch floor, and walkway and laid the bluestone on all. There were a couple of concerns that came up in the process of the work, but Lou was always willing to resolve any issues as they arose. Overall, we were absolutely thrilled every step of the way with the complete transformation of our house. (will post pictures). Jim Catanzano was very pleasant to work with and showed up on the job every day. Also, his son Greg was wonderful. Their entire workcrew were extremely hardworking and skilled. Surprisingly, they never used our bathroom -- still wondering how they managed that... but they were certainly welcome to use it. I highly recommend JAMAR - and it was all the great reviews on this site that led us to them to begin with. And we are very happy with our decision.

I called and talked to a lot of window companies, had four of them over and got estimates. Jamar windows clearly knows window installation. Their salesman explained everything I asked about in detail, including why my 1991 installed cheapo windows no longer opened without the services of a body builder or two. We spent a good hour talking about older buildings with unusual size windows, recent developments in window design, materials, the works. Jamar returned my calls promptly. I got a real person on the telephone when I called during normal business hours. (Strangely enough most replacement window companies were just impossible to reach by telephone after the preliminary sales pitch took place.) I got a detailed estimate in a reasonable period of time via Email. Good customer service. Jamar offered me all the top names in windows with any option I wanted. I had done a lot of internet research comparing styles and pricing so I got a feel for how this window replacement industry works. My impression is you really need to consult Angie's list before you pick a window installer because there are a lot of very inferior operations out there who are all to eager to take your money and leave you with another set of poorly funktioning window. In contrast I was favorably impressed with Jamar Windows. Ultimately I went with a less expensive company that manafacture and install only their own product. However Jamar's prices were fair. I would have used Jamar if I wanted absolutely top line windows badly enough to pay for them. But real estate prices have been dropping and my condo building is already the nicest one on the block. So I took the budget option.

Greg is a consummate professional and a great guy. He promptly gave a fair estimate and helped us out with putting in new windows and doors in our basement. I then hired him again to put in a new sliding door in our living room. The craftsmanship is excellent and he finished it up in half a day. His carpentry work was fantastic and the finished product was beautiful and efficient. He saw that I was having trouble hanging an interior door and chiseled out the hinges and helped me hang it without extra charge. Great work, great company. Will hire again in the future and you should too.

The three-man team arrived on the day and time specified, and they were completely prepared. The supervisor's name was Greg. He introduced himself when he arrived, and over the course of the replacement explained everything I asked about. They removed the old window and its hip roof in pieces, being careful not to harm the wood floors inside or the driveway outside. They then installed the new bow window frame carefully, aligning and squaring the frame so that all four windows would open and close easily. Now, the only reason my wife and I had the old bow window replaced was because the hip roof leaked badly. We had a lot of water coming in whenever it rained hard outside ... especially if the rain came from the south. To ensure that the new bow window wouldn't leak, Greg and his team included all sorts of protection on the hip roof as well as installing the hip roof at a greater pitch so rain would run off more quickly. While we've had no hard rains since the bow window was installed, I feel confident that the new window will not leak. All three men were courteous and professional the entire time they worked on the project. They cleaned up after themselves very well inside in the living room as well as outside on the driveway. They hauled away the old material, too.

I chose Jamar through Angie's List reviews. Jim (Owner) was very easy to deal with and very honest. His crew was very professional. They showed up when they said they would, cleaned up after themselves every day and finished the job quickly. Most importantly, the quality of the work was excellent. I would not hesitate to hire Jamar again or recommend them to anyone in the market for siding, windows and gutters.

I read reports on Angie's list and decided to go with this company. It is a privately owned company run by a gentleman, Jim, who was very easy to deal with. I needed an immediate replacement of gutters, and he sent a crew the next day who did a very professional job. I needed to install 2 new windows, and the person who came to give us the estimate was very good. But he never sent me the estimate for a week even after I left a couple of messages. I almost gave up on them until I called one more time and Jim the owner picked up apologized and was upset at his people and immediately sent me the estimate. Talking to him I was reassured that he would do a good job, and from that point onwards I only dealt with Jim. After I finally got my permit from the town, the install date was done quickly. Greg, the owners son came and installed the 2 new windows(not replacement) and did a very professional and clean finish. Cleaned up very well and the finish was so good that it appeared the windows were always there. After the job was done, the owner called to make sure the job was done to my satisfaction.

I recently purchase a 1958 fixer-upper house with original, single-pane windows, some of which did not open (painted shut), some of which didn't close/lock. I collected quotes from five different companies and JAMAR easily came at the top of my short list. The company's owner, Jim, came out to see me twice at my house, promptly called me back whenever I contacted them with questions, and very helpful and knowledgeable about the process and the windows selection. He is truly a great guy - down to earth, patient, friendly, the exact opposite of the proverbial pushy salesman. The job was completed right on schedule in 1.5 days, about 4 weeks after the contract was signed. The team included Gregg (Jim's son) and two other guys who worked hard and did an outstanding job. I am very picky about details, so when I say they were meticulous, I mean it. They were also very friendly and easy to have around while the work was going on. Jim stopped by later in the day as well to check up on the progress of the project and assist with the debris removal. Now the project is complete, the new windows look great and I am truly grateful to everybody at JAMAR for a job truly well done! I wish them nothing but the best and I highly recommend them to anyone in need of new windows.

They were to expensive. He was a very nice guy however.

The entire experience was managed very well. The sales person Emery with the owner Jim was able to give us a very detailed quote so we understood where the money was being invested and if we had to, we had options to swap out certain components. He was able to ball park the timeline where it would take about 3 to 4 weeks to order the doors, and 1 to 2 days for installation. 20% was put down as deposit. On the day of installation, Greg with an assistant came in ready to rip down the old and install the new. They were very meticulous on getting the door frame plum. Majority of the work was done on day 1. Day 2 was just finishing off the screens and demonstrating how to replace the screens with the storms. Everything was professional and above board and would like to use this company on a future project regarding redoing our garage and bathroom.

They did a really superb job. They were very professional, on time, and they did the work in one day. I was very happy with the result.

WE contacted 3 companies and could have gone any of the three as they were all on Angies list. These guys were clearly more professional. They explained everything they would do and how long it would take.They arrived when they said they would and basically did all the work in order it was described. It is nice to have stuff happen like you want it to.

Jamar did an excellent job. They showed up on time, layed drop cloths, did a totally professional job and cleaned up when they were done
