Description of Work: Very bizarre. Gave estimate to remodel our bathroom for $13,000, about $1,500 less than other bids. Then I asked for a contract. He replied that I should just sign the estimate. I replied I would need a contract, along the lines of the Angies List article http://www.angieslist.com/contractor/signing-a-contract.htm. I said I wanted proof he had a current license, insurance and bonding, as that was on his business card and the side of his truck. I also indicated that I would using a charge card for the deposit, as his website indicated he took charge cards. I also asked for a lien release and that he obtain any required permits. I also asked for a termination clause. I've had bad luck in the past with contractors getting injured after starting the job, so this was important to me. He called my wife back that night and said we were asking too much and he wasn't sure he was still interested in doing the work. I don't know what in particular was upsetting to him as he refused to answer subsequent phone calls. I was willing to amend my requests but did not get the opportunity. Not answering phone calls is clearly unprofessional so I decided not to do business with this company.

+ 0 moreAfter Hurricane Sandy, my heat was not working properly. After trying to resolve this myself, I called Patriot Mechanical for assistance. He showed up a little late, because he was finishing up another job. Once he arrived, he got me working, but quickly identified the issue as a problem with my thermostat. I told him I would replace that myself. I purchased the new thermostat and installed it, but it did not resolve the issue. I called him again and asked for him to come back the next day. He showed up as requested and looked at the wiring on the thermostat. He identified that it was not correct and resolved the issue. He did not charge me for a second trip. Overall, I was very happy with his work and will use him again.
Description of Work: My heating system was not working correctly and the temperature was not able to be adjusted. It was either fully on or fully off. Patriot Mechanical rewired the system correctly.
