Description of Work: I had my roof replaced. Of course, with waiting until December - the weather kept pushing things out - but the guys arrived at 7:30am-ish and were completed, cleaned up and gone by 2:30pm! Great job - now just waiting to hear about next steps for solar panels!

Description of Work: Salesman came to house on Friday morning and spent approximately 30mins on roof and 30 mins talking to me. He couldn't provide an estimate but promised I would get via email on Monday. 3 weeks later still no estimate and no response to email and phone calls

Description of Work: Replaced roofing shingles damaged from Hurricane Sandy. They were very responsive despite the wide spread damage, and price was as good if not better than other quotes received.

Description of Work: Complete tear off and replacement of existing roof on 3300 sf two story colonial with 2 car garage on side. Salesman was knowledgable and courteous, and was prompt with the bid. The proposal was complete and consistent with our discussions. Salesman was responsive to minor customer change requests at no additional cost. Keller was lowest qualified bidder out of 3 obtained. Contract was awarded on the basis of low cost, quality of roofing system, warranty, and experience of supervision and workers. All workers are direct employees of Keller, and not subcontract laborers. The job was completed on schedule, within one day including cleanup, with no extras. There have been no problems with the roof since the job was completed. The home office was cooperative with the payment plan (reasonable amount of deposit, payment with credit card accepted). The contractor obtained and provided the necessary permits, and furnished the warranty documents. I would recommend this contractor to others.

Description of Work: Took out two windows. Ran electric. Installed sliding doors to a double decker deck which he built. Had to take down old screen house and excavate. Install siding where needed.

Description of Work: The roofers showed up on time and worked from approximately 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. I have a large roof, about 3800 square feet. They placed tarps around the entire house to protect the siding, removed all the old shingles, removed an old skylight and installed a new one, installed new pipe flanges on vent pipes, installed aluminum flashing around chimney, and cleaned up all debris when job was completed. | |They brought a dumpster the day before the job was performed, and returned the next day early in the morning to remove it. For that short period of time, I parked cars on my lawn to give them access to the whole driveway as they requested. | |I had a leak around the skylight on the previous roof and with a new skylight and new roof, that problem should disappear. I haven't had a hard enough rain storm to determine if the leak is fixed yet. | |The only small complaint I could offer is that when I met with the salesman initially in early June, I told him I needed the work done prior to July 18th I was having guests up for that weekend who would be staying in the bedroom with the leak in the skylight. I was told the job could be moved up to meet that date, but July came and went and although I sent an email stating that the job should have been done in July, no one from the company acknowledged my email or my concern. Fortunately, it did not rain over that weekend so there were no issues. I was a little disappointed though, and was left with the feeling that once they got the job, no one bothered to address this issue. | |I've only had the new roof less than a week, and will have to wait to see how it fares through the next winter. All in all, I thought that George J. Keller Sons did a very good job, and delivered a quality product.

Description of Work: They put on a new roof. Great job. Quick and clean. Price was right in line and their salesman was so informative. And now they're scheduled to install solar panels. Looking forward to that.

Description of Work: Gutters and siding

Description of Work: I did not want a ridge vented roof and I luckily caught the workers cutting open the roof and no on the job spoke English and the truck driver delivering the products spoke to them in their language and asked them to stop. The owner or project manager was not on the job during the beginning of the job. Also they left nails in the gutters and when gutters were cleaned the nails were blown all over the lawn and driveway. In addition cleanup left pieces of old roof shingles on the lawn.

Description of Work: Only communicated via e-mail. If they had told me this in the beginning it would have alleviated many of the issues. No phone call was ever placed to alert that roof was scheduled to be done. They just showed up in the morning with no notice. I had to call them back several times to remove plastic wrap from chimney flashing and to remove debris from between house and gutters. Gutters are all now loose and pulled away from the house causing water from the roof to pour down between house and gutter. This then has caused flooding in my basement. They were to have run a magnet over property to remove random roofing nails...but we're still finding them. While I got a new roof, this has caused many more issues and a lot of aggravation. Almost one full year later no one has ever contacted me to see if I was pleased with the job. I cannot in good consciousness recommend this Company to others.

Description of Work: This job consisted of new roofing (removing the old roof -- 2 layers) plus new siding (removing old siding). In both cases the prior house covering (roof and siding) were approx 30+ yrs. old and had received some minor damage due to our area's recent hurricanes (e.g.; IRENE and SANDY did a number to NJ). All old material/debris was removed from the site. The grounds were meticulously checked/raked for debris (do expect some nails to linger if you have mulch and bushes surrounding your house - I found about 15 in the remaining mulch). For the roofing Keller and Sons will put a protective netting around your building structure to protect your siding and windows. For the siding all exterior windows and doors will be caulked for a protective seal. I had checked a number of roofers prior to my contract with Keller & Sons (FYI -- they had done the previous roof 30 years ago and I never experienced a single leak). As part of their service Keller & Sons has a website which will educate you all about roofing/siding/windows etc. -- very informative (highly recommend). Their reps will make a house call and discuss all aspects of their job -- materials, labor, how the work is to be done. Their office support is great too. Since I have dealt with Keller & Sons a number of time I highly recommend their services.

Description of Work: I hired this company to repair an overhang/deck with new railings and floor. They replaced my roof in early September and were to start this part of the job after that was done. The work began about 3 weeks after the roof had been done. I had sent an email inquiring as to when work would begin and was told it would be later in the week. The crew came to demo on a day that I did not know they were coming. GJ Keller did not call me to let me know. But I was happy they were finally started. I had a very good experience with this company for the roofing job so expected the same with this. However, I was sadly disappointed. The crew did not come back for about 10 days, maybe more, at which time they installed the floor covering only. The owner of the company told me, after I had asked why this was taking so long, that the carpenter was very busy and he had a hard time "getting the crew together" with the carpenter to get it all done. Keep in mind, this was in early October. Weeks and weeks went by, then hurricane Sandy hit. All this time I had NO railings on a deck overhang that is over 10 feet from the ground. After the hurricane, I waited about 2 weeks and emailed again. I knew they would be busy fixing roofs and other things that were damaged by the hurricane, but needed my deck to be finished, especially because it was dangerous. The owner told me they were swamped. I had no pity at that point. They had WEEKS to get it done before the hurricane and didn't. He told me it would be done the week of Thanksgiving, which it finally was--on Wednesday. It was almost 2 months for the entire project. They were here 4 or 5 times, usually just a few hours at a time. I felt like my project was a very low priority, which it probably was, but honestly I felt like I was deceived by this company. The representative that came to my house to give me the estimate told me the deck would be done within a couple of weeks after the roof. That was NOT the case. Had I known it would take two months to complete I would have probably looked elsewhere for a contractor. In conclusion, while the company did a good job, despite a few minor glitches along the way, I would not recommend them for smaller jobs such as this which involve carpentry. Apparently they don't have enough carpenters to go around. They did a fabulous job on my roof, for which I wrote a glowing review, and I can confidently recommend them for roofing jobsbut I believe their expertise is roofing and that is their strong suit.

Description of Work: We picked this company in May 2010 because of the recommendations by a neighbor and the reports on Angie's List. This company was not able to begin work immediately but this was not an issue for us as we were planning a trip the first week in June. When we returned they came immediately and completed the job in one day. They left the ground immaculately clean. We chose an energy efficient roof (White) and expect to receive a tax credit this tax year. New roof and new leaders and gutters make the house look almost new.
