Description of Work: Replaced 2 garage doors and garage door opener with outside access pad. Gentleman was prompt and did the whole entire job by himself. Excellent job! Had everything set up to do his work and was very organized.

Description of Work: Put in a double sized garage door and cables, springs, etc. |Shawn, the installer, was professional and friendly. He did a great job and cleaned up afterwards. |The estimator, Andy, who came and did all the measurements was also very accommodating. Even the girls at the office were friendly and helpful. |I would definitely recommend TGS.

Description of Work: The technician came in asked me what the issue was and I explained what it is and he started to go off by saying these are low grade doors and the garage door opener is not good quality and it would be best to rebuild the door and I can do it at $595- I asked him what it entails- he mentioned the best parts- 40000 cycles, Pulley, rollers, cords etc. So I asked him what are other options and he mentioned I can use the parts which are 10000 cycles but I don't recommend it and I don't carry it myself. I also asked him what are the other things that is done in tune-up- he mentioned few things so I said just changed the pulleys since I need to pay him the service charge I asked him to change the part I never changed in the last 15 years. | |I don't know if the guys are salaried or they get paid commissions- maybe that is why they were upselling. | |Also he thought that I was naïve and don't know what he was talking- I just played dumb to see what analysis he gave. | |So was NOT HAPPY because he was upselling and didn't let the customers know what the options are and then let them make their decision he went straight for the kill. | |He apologized and said he was wrong in not explaining the options. But we started off on the wrong foot.

Description of Work: Fixed garage door. Though couple days later it broke it was not there fault. However we there a second time for 5 minutes and still charged me another $80. Though it was policy felt a little much.

Description of Work: I had a broken torsion spring on my garage door. I checked Angie's List, saw Total Garage Solutions listed with good ratings. I called, talked to Judy, told her about the broken spring, mentioned I had seen the ad on Angie's List. I asked if I would get a discount for using someone from Angie's List. She said yes, and scheduled a technician to come to my house. He came, checked out the broken spring, checked some sizes, and gave me a rough estimate of between $500-$600. I told him I thought that was way too high, and even though it is a tough job, the prices for the springs were much higher then prices I had checked on the Internet. I told him I wanted to get more estimates, and he said he had to charge me about $80 for a service call. I told him Judy had never said there was a charge for an estimate, and when he called her, and I talked to her, she denied saying there would be a discount for Angie's List customers. After some arguing, she didn't charge me for the estimate,, but her overall attitude wasn't something I would think Angie's List would be happy with. I am now seeking other estimates, but wanted to report this while I was still angry. Jacob Kopp
