The contractor never showed.
Description of Work: Gave me an estimate over the phone. Told me he was going to have a person pick up my table top after work and that I needed to take the dining room table apart. I did and his person never showed nor did he call me to apologize. He finally did about 2-3 weeks later leaving me a voicemail saying he had me confused with another person. Then he called again saying he was available. Very unprofessional.

On October 29, 2012 hurricane Sandy struck New Jersey, with 85 MPH winds. A large wind gust caused 2 large branches of a 170 year old pine tree to break off, landing on the roof of the 230 year old stone house, destroying a chimney, structural timbers supporting the roof, and penetrating the ceilings of 3 rooms with side branches. One of these branches landed on a work table, splintering it (but stopping the branch from doing further damage to the house). Naturally, furniture in these 3 rooms was damaged by falling plaster, timbers and water entering through the gap. Our insurer recommended Griffin's Refinishing to restore the furniture that was damaged. We were contacted personally by Kevin Griffin, the proprietor, who arranged for pickup of the damaged pieces and delivery after the repairs were completed. Note that Griffin's is over 60 miles from us, so the pickup and delivery was an important part of the service. Once they had the pieces the actual work went incredibly fast; we had all of the work back within 3 weeks, all beautifully restored, and actually better than it had been prior to the damage. Throughout the process we were kept informed of progress, and asked about preferences for fabric, finish and colors. On all of these we went with Mr. Griffin's recommendations and were pleased with the results.
Description of Work: Restored and refinished furniture damaged when a tree fell on our house during hurricane Sandy in 2012. The work included a victorian work table that a tree branch penetrated, 2 spindle-back chairs, an upholstered chair and a sewing/storage cabinet. Griffin found a replacement top for the table that matched perfectly, refinished the chairs and cabinet (including a gouge out of the top of the cabinet), reupholstered and refinished the chair.
